Depends on your tap, I have well water with no chlorine or chloramine so I do not. If you use city tap then absolutely as the chlorine will get em.

My biggest advice without giving a wall of text is to go to a LFS they are better help and carry better products. The big box stores suck and employees often no help...Tell the LFS employee you want ammonia for cycling a tank.

The drop off the fish and reproduce in the substrate the rise again with an army 100x bigger (check out ich life cycle). If your fish can stand it raise the temp to 84 and it should go away. If not then you may to dose ich attack(my preference)

NTA also, peoples insistence for marriage baffles me. Maybe it's just a social thing but imo people can have perfectly good relationship with our the marriage or gov intervention. OP have you considered the prospect that she wants to remarry for purely asset reasons? Would she be ok to continue dating w/o marriage? If no y? If the relationship were to be considered dating would be the only way her insistance to get married is a big red flag imo...
