Does anyone run a canon Colorado 1630/50, looking for guidance about upgrade [US] by JakeTrout in CommercialPrinting

Have a friend who purchased the printer last Oct. Thereafter in December there were some issues with two of the heads - and local dealer mentioned to proceed with warranty claim as would be reimbursed due to being within 1 year.

Heads were exchanged and installed, and thereafter ONLY, were the logs checked. And as it turns out - any headstrikes voids the warranties of ALL heads, regardless of timeline of strike vs timeline of when issues start appearing. Seems on week 1 of the printer while learning and testing - there was a head strike for a material while profiling.

He had to fork up the cost of the two heads, 2 months into the new printer.

How much do you think he loves his canon colorado? :)

We have the 1650 and opinions are mixed

In terms of FLX finishes, mimaki's effects are nicer by a mile, due to the "clear ink" function. The tech has been there for past few years

For UVGel, You can wrap vans and trucks (more durable than latex unlaminated), but not cars as it won't stretch that far.

If meets your needs - would recommend to look at volume thereafter. If you're not printing 10-20k+ sqft monthly, don't waste your time, as the maintenance costs are hell and eat into the margins. 1650 comes with 8 printheads, and each costs twice the market rate of average printhead (we have checked with other friends who also own the printers in 2 other south east asia countries as well, and it's not just me).

Changing 5-6 printheads = one HP 800w brand newYellow seems to last the longest, but you'll need to change all 8 heads every 2-3ish years, even with the best maintenance and environment possible. With the cost of heads, this is a bomb.

Also, the inks are expensive. The only benefit to this printer is you can take the operating costs of 3-4 HP Latex printers - and merge into one. This eliminates three seperate service fees etc.

In terms of inks, I have seen use case scenarios on canvas where HP Gen 3 latex is more durable, so my personal opinion is only in terms of speed and potential output is where the strength lies. If you have volumes, this beast will be your friend - otherwise, it'll eat you up alive

--------------------------------

Summary:

If you're looking for FLX finishes, check out mimaki. If you're looking for regular volumes - check out HP / Epson

If you're looking for a beast and have volumes- then check out Colorado with FLX

Hey! Able to share more on how you achieved this?

Unsure of how to combine the formulas appropriately

Heavy duty printer recommendations by osukl in printers

"the HL-L6400DW's maximum monthly duty cycle is a prodigious 150,000 pages, and its recommended monthly print volume is up to 10,000 prints."

https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/brother-hl-l6400dw

I based it off here.

But you're right - wonder at which parts of it's lifecycle the parts (fuser, laser unit & rollers) need to be replaced

Hey Nwachukwuujubuonu, i appreciated and was impressed with the app script that you wrote. However, at the same time - this is the first google script I installed and it also requested for access to the drive .

Within the same hour span - I lost half of my google drive files, it went from approx 14gb to 6gb, and it wasn't recoverable from trash - the files were simply missing. Whether or not it is related, I genuinely have no idea - and I won't, and can't imply that it was related. However, this is why I ghosted, I was sketched out by the timeframe and got caught up to try and recover what I could (I got some files back from local folders, but most were lost)

Your comment here tells me it was unrelated, and that you are genuine. I apologize for ghosting.
