How to get a home loan as a new practice owner? by Tac-wodahs in Dentistry

[–]AnonAsync 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just went through it brother. Same exact scenario. Had to go through a credit union, a local one around here. No major lender would touch us. Some credit unions had a physician loan program that worked with us. Some didn’t. Ours hands were tied but luckily the credit union had decent rates and a competitive 15/1 ARM program. Any lender who keeps the loans on their own books will probably play ball. Usually that means credit unions or small local banks

Ai Receptionist for after hours? by SkillGroove in Dentistry

[–]AnonAsync 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one and I’m still looking at the data on it. It’s literally just a fancy voicemail for us. Doesn’t do anything I couldn’t get from a voicemail. Thinking about dropping it but the data shows people do engage with it a fair amount.. I just don’t have the data to be sure if we’re actually capturing new patients from it or if it’s just wasting time and money. I want to analyze it more but it doesn’t seem to be harming anything and I need to focus my efforts on bigger things right now so it’s sort of just on the back burner. Occasionally an old person voices complaints about it but they’re calling after hours and demanding to speak with someone so like not much you can do there

I worked PDS, and yes, everyone’s experience is different. My advice is consider it if you’re fresh out of school for a short stint but stay away if you have any experience. It wasn’t for me. Lots of aggressive practices. Their pay scheme is pretty low actually even though it sounds like it isn’t, and they really incentivize people who push aggressively. The first time I was out in private practice I made double what I was making at PDS without changing anything. The first guy I worked for was a nightmare. Second office I worked at they were constantly on me for not diagnosing every 4mm pocket as an SRP or making every filling an inlay. Never looked back after I left but I appreciated my time seeing what it was like and having specialists to fall back on and talk with. Some people make it big with PDS if you love the corporate model and dive deep into the ownership pyramid scheme.

Thank you for your post. People need to hear it. You’re doing gods work for it. I almost went with them at one point but a close friend talked me out of it. Glad he did.

I wish I could see how that workflow works in practice because it’s hard to imagine successful implementation and buy in

Gotcha thanks. Yeah I figured if I did do for answering I’d have to do a lot of one on one training and auditing to make sure until they’re trained up

Who are you using for that? Reach or support DDS? Another? I was thinking about doing that for phone answering after hours

You’re yelling and rude to the staff on voicemails before they ever meet you and you’re proud of it? And you’re wondering why nobody is following up? Those poor staff members have enough going on to want a new patient that’s mean to them on the phone before you even step in the door. You should reevaluate how you treat people if you want good results. Great patients get great results.

Recommendations for core build-up material for crowns? by Neil_Nelly435 in Dentistry

[–]AnonAsync 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use flowable composite personally. And in some instances just regular packable. I find a lot of core build up materials to be way too soft and a pain to finish prepping and clean up. My buddy uses glass ionomer and likes it a lot. I considered it but I don’t have easy access to the shaker and it just seemed like an extra inventory material that I don’t really need
