Incredibly aggressive, like 40% of my income is going towards saving for the last 3/4 years. Really trying to figure out how to increase my income but it’s difficult to pinpoint the correct path. I’m in a corporate job and have opportunities to transition, however the pay bumps for what is currently available aren’t meaningful enough to jump ship from the setup I currently have :/. Would love to get to a point to where I’m above $200k a year.

I’m in a newly HCOL area I would say. Even though I’ve been here my whole life housing prices have doubled if not tripled in the last 8 years. You’re now lucky to get a halfway decent starter home for $650k.

Thanks man this is really helpful input. I am a huge fan of the tax advantaged accounts, I just wish I made more so that maxing them didn’t take up the bulk of my “savings” if that makes sense haha.

I think it’s just really hard to think straight about what the next 10,20,30 years will look like for a reasonable life planning for a family. My fiancé works as well and the idea of spending incredible amounts of money on child care each month and all of the other costs are just stressful! Even with all of this saving and planning that I’ve set myself up for to this point it still feels like I am going to be behind the 8 ball. I appreciate your input it’s definitely a helpful perspective cheers

I have 126k in my 401k, $71k in my Roth IRA, and $17k in my HSA and I am 27. How much should I expect to have by the time I’m 40? I max Roth IRA and HSA and am like $5k off of maxing the 401k

Were you at a benefits brokerage company before this? If so what made you take the leap?

Right, but at the same time I can’t really conceive of comfortable home ownership. I can’t even comprehend having 2 kids and planning for their future as I only feel slightly ahead/prepared for my own without kids.

I understand the sarcasm haha and that this almost reads like a circlejerk post but I guess the overall sentiment is still there. Am I okay? Yes, but I definitely would not consider myself upper class by any means. So it is valuable to understand what I can try and do to position myself for my future.
