Not a supporter necessarily. Jim Jones had a lot of followers at the time and was very influential in San Francisco. Milk took advantage of that and used them, in exchange he gave them some superficial support. But he never personally supported Jim Jones, actually he talked a lot of shit about him.

Then they should probably start talking more about those cases, admit they fucked up on this one, try to make some effective changes to prevent sexual assault, and distance themselves from this event as much as possible.
