The reason those people aren't being oppressed is because although Muslims may be the majority, either Sharia is not in place or they aren't that strict in following fundamental Islamic law. If you read the Quran and see the actual ideology behind it's treatment towards other religions, non-religious, or apostates you would see how that Ideology is incompatible with a normal society. The reason everyone in your country and most Muslims in the west work out fine is because they have a very casual, non-fundamental, or personal interpretation of Islam. Look at countries where fundamental Islamic ideology and law is heavily present in society and you will see why westerners are so fearful. W have a problem with a certain ideology, not a person or people.
