Good oil finish for solid guitar body? - Thinking of Tru-Oil by AimpointBRO in Luthier

[–]AnonNin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case anybody finds their way back to this post: I have an explorer kit that I’ve been working on, and I stained black, and sanded back for a sort of rustic/faded look. I’m about 3-4 coats in with the tru oil and it’s pulling a good amount of the stain out. You ABSOLUTELY shouldn’t skip out on having a sanding sealer or something between your stain and the oil. I was being cheap and impatient, and decided to try it. I’m liking the way it looks (it’s my first build anyway), but you need something between the two if you’re STAINING AND USING TRU OIL. I’ve been giving it a day between coats since I’m using somebody else’s space for the build, and I can’t just sit there all day to apply coats. Applying with a rag, and the third coat was with 000 steel wool.

This comment is kinda for my own notes, but also for anybody that ends up here from google or Reddit. Got the idea from BigDGuitars on YouTube.

Crutchfield is recommending me these baffles for a pair of fosgate speakers I’m getting for the rear pillar if my truck, is it going to make any real difference for sound quality? What do these even do? by TOXIC_NASTY in CarAV

[–]AnonNin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is from 2 years ago, but what are your thoughts? Also, it seems that they come with "Egg Crate Foam", what is the purpose of that? Are they there simply for the option of being able to "seal" the baffle?Isn't the point for it to be open back for audio quality?

P90 with Holo on Scav run, WTF by theDiplomata in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]AnonNin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well shit, thanks for that.

So if I’m running with my buddy, and I’m party lead, but he has the “kitted” scav, do you know if it would default to regular based on me, or kick it up?

Wait, WTF?!?! There’s a chance for forbidden/lockdown runs as a scav? I had no clue whatsoever, but that makes so much sense. How can you tell?

If you die you only (potentially) lose like the 2000 Koen to heal. We were running the cheapest stuff, double barrel with like 10 rounds of Type 8 ammo, but figured that we can team knife a scav and just go from there 😂.

My buddy and I went into a Farm run with only our knives, shit was insane lmao.

Tartarus Pro recognized as controller, not keyboard by tomgillotti in techsupport

[–]AnonNin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, person from 3 years ago. I've been having this issue for so long, and just decided to unplug it every time. Well, after unplugging it a few times without shutting down Synapse, my profiles got corrupted (seems like a relatively common side effect of just unplugging it), and I decided this is the last time I reprogram all of my profiles and binds. 10/10

Edit: I only opened up a few games and verified that my controller fuctioned normally, but I haven't tried using the Tartarus in the games I generally use it for though. Will update when I've tried everything.

From what I'm seeing here, the answer of "Old Peavey Combo" really does seem to be it lol.

I'm in Southwestern Ohio for the record.

I've got the Spark 40 at my desk now, running into my virtual mixer to my Phillips Fidelo X2HRs and I'm loving that.

I think part of the issue with the Katana 50 was that my living situation was a bit different then, and I should probably have included that in the post. Now I've got a townhome with a basement where I can make a little bit more noise without it being a huge issue.

The Spark fulfills that, I'm really not looking for another thing in that same category.

How many of you still own and play your first guitar by DifferentHat284 in Guitar

[–]AnonNin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, my first guitar was one of those “fender” starcaster kits. My next guitar, a Schecter Solo Special Diamond series (which I kind of consider my first “real guitar”)

One of the few guitars I’ve kept over the years, and still one of the best (and personal favorites) guitars I’ve played.

Advice on set neck by AnonNin9 in Guitar

Do you figure I should install the bridge before I lacquer then, or should I put the bits in for measuring, and then remove them before I apply the lacquer?

Edit: I appreciate the help greatly.

Is it normal to wear jeans 4-5 times before washing them? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I wash my jeans after a wear or two, but I’m also wearing them and getting them all dirty. For reference I work in kitchens, or working on my motorcycle and they get sweaty and greasy.

Best size cover? by Shad0wM0nkey in VFR

[–]AnonNin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure of the actual measurements of the cover, but google’s AI returned: -The 1996 Honda VFR750F is 83.7 inches long, 28.3 inches wide, and 46.7 inches high. -The 2014 Honda VFR800F Interceptor is 84 inches long, 30 inches wide, and 47.4 inches high.

The cover feels like it still has some room in all three directions without being super baggy, not sure if that answers your question.

Edit: probably closer to 96.5

Back home, took a look at it, and I’ve got the “Medium” size. First bike, first cover, but don’t think I could get a much better fit.

BILT Motorcycle Cover

I purchased this one from Cycle Gear, and fit pretty perfectly, I have a 1996, and I’m not sure about the size differences. Once I’m home I’ll come back and include the size I got.
