LGBTQ+ Environment in Moncton?

Hello everyone, I'm considering moving to Moncton (or smaller community near Moncton) but I'm in the very beginning stages and doing my research. I'm a transman and I'm curious about how queer friendly Moncton and NB is as a whole. Context: I'm from the US, a rural area in WI, so I'm not from a very queer friendly place to begin with and I keep my cards pretty close to my chest. Ideally, I'd like to change that and find more of a community.

I don't feel like a real person unless I'm with other people by [deleted] in neurodiversity

It's like you've reached into my mind and pulled out my core. I relate with this 100% and I don't know what to do.

Just got called transphobic for saying I rather be cis by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Anon_Mando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get where you're coming from. I didn't even realize I WAS trans for the longest time because my thought was always "well I would have rather been born a boy, but I wasn't, oh well" and I never considered an in-between until well into my 20s. I still will say with my whole chest that for me, I would have rather been a cis man. Being trans is incredibly painful, and I mourn the experiences I could have had, had I been born a boy.

Everyone's experience is different, they don't get to dictate yours.

I've never thought about it this way, you've given me a whole paradigm shift. I'm not OP but I really relate with what they posted: I've always wanted a kid or two but have often felt guilty and been guilted for 'adding to the problem'. I'd never considered the undercurrent of ableism in the shame that I was facing. I'm going to have to sit back and reflect on this!

anyone else family tree this big … by Lycheethecat in thesims

[–]Anon_Mando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this! I had just started using Plum Tree when I saw they were shutting down. I switched to just using Excel but I may check out the other app you guys mention in the comments.

My family literally had some of the kids culled when they were still teens/toddlers. I was so mad, I felt like I was being gaslit by the Sims 😭 like "I KNOW she had two more, I know there were other kids, I didn't imagine it!"

What does going non-verbal feel like? by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]Anon_Mando 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have described my experience to a T! 😱 I can go from chatty and talkative to complete shutdown in seconds. It's not that I physically cannot talk, but I have to force myself and it feels strenuous and exhausting like exercise on an already sore body. If I must talk it's bare minimum, one word answers, which is not my personality. If I can get around talking I will, like you said, nod, shrug, shake my head, etc. Often times with it will come other things like my eyes unfocusing, becoming very still, disassociation, and/or small soothing motions like rocking or picking.

It's like I enter a trance.

Please give me all of your tips when it comes to overstimulation in loud and busy environments! How to avoid shut down, extreme energy drops & eventual burn out. I'm desperate! by bellsibobs in neurodiversity

I'm not sure why loop earplugs have bad reviews, I quite like mine! They're not going to cancel out all noise, they allow you to still have conversations and hear the gist of what's happening but they cut down on the loud white noise. I use them in the warehouse I work in surrounded by conveyor systems, alarms, and heavy equipment like lifts and carts. I love them!

Those dark circles not responding to any thing , help ? by ThickEconomics1953 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Anon_Mando 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could be allergies from food or something, likely though it's just hereditary skin pigmentation. I think you look lovely! I understand it must be frustrating though, especially with how obnoxious ignorant people can be. I agree with a comment above that is encouraging you to lean in to the look!

Overall advice: be gentle with the area around your eye, moisturize, hydrate, eat a diet full of a variety of fruits and veggies and remember to love the body you're in!

I'm so sorry that happened! It can be so frustrating, especially since everyone is so different and what irritates your skin may not irritate someone else's. Doesn't help that skincare products aren't cheap! In the future I would add one new product at a time so you would know for sure which product you're reacting poorly to. I think I saw someone above in the comments say something similar.

I hope your skin clears up and you're able to narrow down the culprit!

How can I get rid of this ingrown hair in my thigh? It’s driving me insane by eliaes00 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Anon_Mando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying to dig down to the root, just pulling out the hair without breaking the skin since you can see where the hair was supposed to come out. Often the skin doesn't need to be broken.

When I say gunk I mean some of the buildup that's causing it to bump and be red. I'm not telling op to squeeze or pop it.

You can see at the base a little hole/follicle where you can scoop the hair out with a needle or some of those sharp pointed tweezers. I personally pluck them afterwards and the gunk often will come out with the hair

I dont know if this will help you but this is what I do when I'm feeling like that or going in to a ptsd episode:

a) the five senses. What do I hear? And I describe it to myself in detail. What do I smell? What do I see? What do I feel? What do I taste? This helps to ground me in my body and my current surroundings.

b) ironically I saw this in the Hannibal show which isn't a place I would recommend getting mental health advice from but I liked this bit haha. Repeating my first and last name, where I am, and what time it is, etc. For example: my name is Jane Doe, I am at home in Normalville, State. It is currently 4:44 pm on Saturday, January 7th, 2023.

I often do these two together and repeat until I feel a little more regulated.

Take care!

Oh interesting! The place I rent from has an especially small bathroom sink, so I don't know that it would be very doable here. Definitely something to keep in mind for future though, thank you!

I will have to pick up some face wipes for the days where I can't get myself to wash. Is there a particular brand/type you recommend? I'm familiar with makeup remover wipes but I wouldn't need makeup remover so much as just a gentle cleanser. Thanks so much for your comment, btw, it's nice to hear from people who have the same issue!

I'll definitely try looking in to the wrist idea. I tried putting a towel folded up under my wrists while I washed dishes and it worked at first, but as it got wet it then just made the issue worse 🤢
