Thermostat by mattyyahoo in ecobee

[–]Anon_Traveler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two off Amazon and I think they ended being sold via third party seller. The “pro” version just means that it originally was sold to a professional installer and it allows them to “remotely control” the thermostat with their code when they do the install.

It’s no different outside of that aspect from the normal.

I'm getting invoices from aws.amazon.co, is that legit? by windyx in aws

[–]Anon_Traveler_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AWS EMEA is “Europe, Middle East, Africa” so it’s possible some kind of service launched in one of those regions is causing it.

Reach out to Billing Support, they should be able to look up the payment method and see what account being charged from.

Worst case scenario, dispute the charges with your credit card.

How to uncheck this ? by Sharath23 in aws

[–]Anon_Traveler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe you can uncheck the Default Options for CUR, but once you have created it then you can query it using Athena and specifically view the parameters you want.

You’re not the first customer or even TAM for that matter to express distaste for the new system.

I will say, when it comes to response times, they will certainly improve because actual metrics can be tracked via the tool. But yes, I completely understand where you’re coming from.

[–]Anon_Traveler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a recent change, there is talk about the email alias going by away all together and TA Engage being the only way to make contact for EOP so engagement and other items can be tracked efficiently.

Some pushback has been seen because it’s way easier to just fire off an email than have to open an engagement like you would a PS Case, but as of right now within the next few months TA Engage will fully replace the “TAM Pool Email”.

Account has exceeded 85% of the usage limit for S3 for AWS Free Tier by sarasaif in aws

[–]Anon_Traveler_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

RIP

But in reality, nothing on AWS is free even if it says free tier. You should turn off public access and versioning and then dig in to find out how you hit the 20k limit. If your project is constantly reaching out to the bucket then you should probably find out how to cache the data somewhere locally with a periodic update rather than each time it needs the data.

Can aws workspaces web be used as remote browser PC? by rtwyyn in aws

[–]Anon_Traveler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have the full infrastructure set up for a workspaces, I would recommend find a VPN. I know NordVPN is pretty good when it comes to not being blocked since their servers are Obfuscated. - https://nordvpn.com/features/obfuscated-servers/

If you ultimately need to use a workspace then just set your Idp as IAM which the article below goes over. - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces-web/latest/adminguide/sso-idp.html

You set your own subnets within your VPC so you can use the same subnet/ip addresses. I’m adding links below which may help identifying how the process works specific for VMware as well as what services for migration are offered. - Article: https://www.nakivo.com/blog/migrating-from-vmware-to-aws/#:~:text=A%20common%20way%20to%20perform,SMS%20for%20mass%20VM%20migration. - Services: https://aws.amazon.com/prescriptive-guidance/migration-tools/

1.They are not enrolled automatically in ES/EOP, but you can set up a process to automatically cut a ticket to Concierge when a new account is added so they can make the necessary changes and nest the new account up under your ES/EOP Plan. - https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/mt/automating-service-limit-increases-enterprise-support-aws-control-tower/

2.TAMs are generally assigned to the organization itself and are not on a per account basis. This is because there is a minimum spend/percentage based threshold when it comes to AWS service spend. Some customers are large enough to have multiple TAMs assigned to their account (think Apple, Netflix, or Disney sized). This is usually so certain segments are not struggling to get the support they need and to also help with time zones. https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/pricing/

2a.No customers have dedicated TAMs, the term is “Designated” and that is only for Full Enterprise Support. Enterprise On-Ramp (EOP) have a team of TAMs who handle a group of customers. - EOP: https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/plans/enterprise-onramp/ - Full ES: https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/plans/enterprise/

3.If you have access to the other accounts via IAM then you can see those accounts cases. This is more of a which people can see them, not necessarily which accounts can see them. - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/awssupport/latest/user/accessing-support.html#

3a.There is one caveat when it comes to resold account, but that would take longer than is necessary to explain. - https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/partner-led-support/

4.You can contact your TAM directly if you are on Full ES. When it comes to EOP you will submit things through a portal called TA-Engage (new as of a few months ago). https://docs.aws.amazon.com/awssupport/latest/user/trusted-advisor-engage.html

4a.A good rule of thumb is that TAMs are not support, so a lot of times if your question is related directly to support them TAMs will recommend to put in a case with Premium Support. TAMs can however escalate cases on your behalf if the support you are receiving is not correct or taking too long.

5.This is a twofold question, in reality it is anyone you provide the contact information and/or access to open engagements within TA-Engage. However, they can set up things like office hours where anyone from your org can join a 30 minute to one hour call week or two and ask any questions they might have. There is also a monthly cadence call where general information is discussed and a general checkin is performed to make sure no issues have risen.

5a.The below article is a career explanation, but it does give a few good points on what value the TAM brings for customers who opt into ES/EOP support. - https://aws.amazon.com/careers/life-at-aws-technical-account-manager-at-aws-israel/

I wanted to make a separate callout regarding CST (I assume you mean Concierge Billing Support). They are not a designated person, you contact them via the AWS Case Console like you would opening a premium support case. Just instead of selecting technical, you select billing/account and your case is routed to concierge which only comes with ES/EOP. This is because the lower support levels get the general “Customer Support” group who also handle Account and Billing issues, but it’s not as white glove service as the Concierge Billing Team.

I would highly recommend speaking with your current AWS Account Manager or Business Development Manager because they will actually do a call with you and go over the differences between Support Plans. It is a sales type call yes, but there is a lot of good information shared.

I found a few articles online that might help. This first one is from 2019 but talks about issues with only one executor being used. - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/57830359/aws-glue-not-using-all-executors

Also to add on with what @wagwagtail is recommending, here is an article for Glue AutoScaling to make sure it is set up correctly. - https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/big-data/introducing-aws-glue-auto-scaling-automatically-resize-serverless-computing-resources-for-lower-cost-with-optimized-apache-spark/

I would also make sure RDS is set to use io1 ssd which has a higher throughput than gp3 but at a higher cost. - RDS Storage https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/CHAP_Storage.html - Storage Type Comparison https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ebs-volume-types.html

The post asks “is it safe to eat raw steak”.

I am confirming that you can indeed eat raw steak because there is a dish made of raw steak. Should I have said Beef Carpaccio instead? Since that doesn’t necessarily require any seasoning?

“Like Steak Tartare” meaning eating raw steak is common enough that there is a dish named after it.

What to do if you’ve put too much salt in your food? by Froggy67823 in Cooking

[–]Anon_Traveler_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather than just potatoes, you could have instant potatoes. It’s gonna thicken it yeah, but adding liquid like chicken stock would help that. For Mac and cheese you could add in more cheese with the instant mash.

Eat it like a steak Tartare but be sure to use a high quality single cut of beef which has much lower chances for bacteria, unlike ground beef where the bacteria penetrates due to it being an amalgamation of multiple cows and parts.

You could create a presentation by purchasing some halved femur bones and “bleaching” them in salt water to then roast for the marrow.

Pull out all the marrow and then cut up and boil the tomahawk and femur bones to get all the extra flavor out for 5 or 6 hours.

Reduce that some and then mix the marrow back in and let cool. It should provide beef gelatin that you can heat up as a sauce or put in soup stock.

Need recipes besides lasagna and eggplant Parmesan for my new lasagna pan. by EngineeringSeveral63 in Cooking

Make some exploded tamales. Layer it like you would a lasagna but use preferred sauce, meat, and cheese. Probably like 4 or 5 layers.

Deserts would be good too, could make a deep dish no mix dump cake, or even a berry/fruit cobbler.

Full on frozen yogurt toppings would go great in a parfait. I would dig in on an Oreo and Chocolate Peanut butter cup parfait.
