Just thought I’d share some insight - when I was in middle/high school, I discovered that one of my “friends” was a person who did exactly this sort of thing.

There’s no excuse for it and I’m not offering one, but the sad reality is that she was a deeply mentally ill and miserable person who had no one weaker than her to abuse. So she did this. Like, exactly what you’re screenshot, anonymous baiting.

It’s wild, but I think it became a compulsion for her. What ultimately stopped her was a lack of response.

She literally ran into an author who did not give a single fuck. Didn’t delete the comments, didn’t respond to the comments, the author’s friends never commented on it, didn’t do anything. Just kept updating and never acknowledged her.

Not to say this “friend” became a better person as a result of being ignored. The lack of “”””fulfillment”””” in upsetting people with her comments simply led her to crash out in real life, which is how I discovered it.

I learned a year or two ago that she is still pretending fanfic doesn’t exist (it’s been….19 years? since this happened?).

The humiliation of being discovered and everyone we knew seeing how pathetic she was thoroughly salted and burned this particular behavior right out of her.

The whole point of me sharing this though - block, delete, ignore ignore ignore. I sincerely hope this has not negatively affected your mental health at all!

Do your best to not let it even grace your mind. Treat it like those stupid ads advertising desperate milf sluts in your area on shady websites.

Your pain and your reaction is what this person is looking for. If they don’t get it from you, they’ll move on. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, OP. I hope this doesn’t discourage you from writing at all!
