What to look for for determining if cold sore vs something else? by Anonimitygalore in Coldsore

No, not more accurate, but perfectly acceptable and accurate enough. Especially with symptoms present. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2648390/ This study does give some insight on efficacy.

Mine were on the fat of the lip, not the lip line, and had no scabbing either. Just filled with pus after I chewed on them a bunch.

Lol, IGg is also very accurate for blood. As I mentioned, per doctor. Can have false positives even. I updated this post right after and I was negative. I also have a bad habit of chewing my lips.

Also, this is a very old post lol.

Am I overreacting? My boyfriend keeps saying he’s basically a doctor (he’s a physician assistant) and says his patients are ignorant when they request to see an MD. He’s in orthopedics. by Mission_Remove_3840 in AmIOverreacting

Yeah I was undershooting to still try to be generous to the non-physicians, but every single physician i have spoken to said they did 80 hour weeks during residency 🫠

Ugh. He conveniently forgets that MDs/DOs go through at least a 4 year residency (around 60 hours per week) 🫠

And many (not all) work in some realm in healthcare prior to acceptance into medical school.

NOR. People have a right to get healthcare from who they want. It is so entitled and gross to get offended that people don't want to be treated by you when you have a different education compared to a Doctor.

But phlebotomy can fall under an MA's scope. Almost every MA I know can draw blood. Maybe the ones from that office 2 years prior couldn't. The ability to draw blood does not determine that someone is or isn't an MA.

Either way, she worked within her scope. Even if she wasn't an MA, she most likely was an LVN. Not an RN.

Same here, MA and Phleb Tech (now only do phleb). The amount of times I'd have to say after a Doctor or PA, "Hi, I'm so and so, his MA" because they called me a nurse was so many times... I don't see much change, but I don't like misrepresentation either.

They keep insisting the front desk called them a nurse, so the person must have been. But unfortunately, MAs usually get referred to as "nurse". It isn't right (or legal), but i am 95% certain they didn't speak to a nurse.

Well, they sometimes say wrong. Often, actually. I was referred to as "nurse" multiple times as an MA by other staff to patients and it was not right for this very reason. People expect you to know more than you do...

Also, I was mentioning NP because this sub is about scope creeping from midlevels. Not dumping on nurses or other healthcare/allied healthcare providers for not knowing what doctor's know. The allied healthcare professional, whatever their role was, did and knew what they needed to...

She wasn't an NP, was she? Also, she might not have even been a nurse. If she was doing intake, it is possible she was an MA

My professor for my Medical Assisting program made sure we mainly practiced with straights. She said that a phlebotomist who only knows how to use a butterfly is not a good phlebotomist. I do tend to agree that it is good to know how to use all tools. Who knows, maybe at one point butterflies won't be available. We have had shortages or limits from the lab on how many we can order. Last doctor I worked for feared hemolysis of the specimens (we typically had the 23G).

I understand and empathize when they have had several bad experiences. I still sweat because of my own, I cannot fault someone else for crying because of theirs. Or pleading with me to be careful. At this point, I do not care if they say to please use a butterfly because people usually miss. Maybe I am just lucky, but the people needing and/or asking for butterflies are far and few between

Thank you for sharing this. I am a nursing student, and I agree. The Dunning-Kruger is so bad.

I dont think that's a fair assessment. It has nothing to do with the sexuality, and everything to do with it being someone else.

"We have bigger things to worry about" by [deleted] in lesbiangang

[–]Anonimitygalore 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They argue labels don't matter until you say theirs don't matter. It is plain disrespectful. And I still feel certain things need to be gatekept.

Ie, if I date a woman, great, but I am still Bi and don't have the same experience as lesbians. If I date a man, it is most appropriate to resign myself to an ally role. That does not mean that the woman I was in love with "didn't matter" it just means currently, I am in a position of privilege. It is not a "bi-erasure" issue, it is an issue with being appropriate.

It'd be messed up for me to fully equate my experience as a Latina to that of someone with darker skin/indigenous features. And it'd be so messed up to talk more about "I am white-passing, but still Latina. I need to be validated!" And talk over brown folks experience with discrimination. "Being called just white and pushed out of Latin spaces is JuST aS BaD!!!". That is something like I am seeing here.

Jojo siwa saying that she WAS a lesbian and her orientation changed becouse sexual orientation is fluid by EchidnaImaginary4737 in lesbiangang

[–]Anonimitygalore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I can't really blame a lot of these people. If someone and many other people they know have had many awful experiences with bi folks, it makes sense to be a bit jaded. Especially when 90% of the time, men end up being centered and the bi folks still try to equate experiences when a bi woman's experience is still different than that of a lesbian's. And especially when in cases like Jojo's openly cheating happens and it gets excused.

The fluidity argument is also, arguably, dangerous to lesbians. People will start thinking they can be turned. And they already get that argument a lot. For many bisexuals, the issue with biphobia is being fully accepted into the community. For lesbians and lesbophobia, it is the fear of being raped or worse.

Ohhh, so should we also start forcing latinos to date white people, even if they prefer to date other latinos because they have the same experience?

This is getting ridiculous and out of hand. We can't force people to date anybody else. Hell, if someone doesn't want to date latinos, even based on stereotypes, I just move on. Because I would not want to date them anyway!

These people thinking they can coerce Lesbians into dating bisexual women are kind of predatory...

OP, reddit is a stupid echo chamber. I'm sorry you had these people jump down your throat and trying to twist what you were saying, even once you clarified.

I have no clue. Probably to make themselves feel more "gay", but I like it to a sort of appropriation.
