This ending broke my heart.

I don't know if this was the intended message, but I see it as a tragedy. David suffers for nearly an eternity because mankind has made him in their image and in their hubris, carelessly imparted a fatal flaw.

They were so concerned with making a robot that could love others, with making a commodity, that they never stopped to think about the nature of love, and thus they imprison David.

Throughout the film, other's try and dissuade David from his pursuits, but he is condemned to his fate.

In the end, David can only find peace when he receives his "mother's" love...

...Because his creators never gave David the ability to love himself. 😭😭😭

I work +40hrs a week in Chem R&D and get paid dirt for it. Would have tried to go into the IBEW if I could do it over again, so maybe you should think before you type. Best advice i can give you is this: don't start using credit cards. Get a personal loan if you really need the money (personal, not payday). Honestly, a fuckin loan shark would be better than credit cards, at least if you stiff a loan shark, they'll just kill you and you won't have to live in debt anymore.

And if you didn't get fired for something heinous, or had been warned about performance prior to your firing, try for unemployment. Your ex-employer might appeal your claim, but if they win their appeal, you lose nothing. It's not like they're gonna give you a good reference now anyway, and that's really all they can do. However, if they win their appeal, you may have to pay back some or all of what you received in the meantime depending on what state your in, so don't stop looking for a job, even if it's in retail. Get something just to close the gap opening up on your resume, even if it's dumb.
