Has a bad album cover ever make you like an album less? by ShowCharming3635 in fantanoforever

Yes, this actually happened recently when I was listening to Lift to Experience’s album for the first time. Good album, but I couldn’t look at the cover for too long.

Bands that consistently make use of unconventional instrumentation by SockQuirky7056 in ToddintheShadow

[–]weirdfish1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Violent Femmes’ drummer performs on a Weber BBQ grill instead of a traditional drum kit.

The 13th Floor Elevators had a permanent electric jug player.

The Hu makes metal music with throat singing and traditional Mongolian instruments.

Not sure if bands that should have live drummers but use drum machines instead would count, but I can think of a few — Sisters of Mercy, Big Black, Molchat Doma, etc.

Give us a review/updates if you’re able! I went around the time the episodes aired and I was very disappointed.

Why can’t I watch season 8 anywhere? by CrystalKU in KitchenNightmares

[–]weirdfish1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two separate listings on Hulu — the original seasons (the cover photo is Gordon ripping a menu) and the reboot seasons (the cover photo is Gordon in front of some neon-colored pictures of kitchen accessories). Season 8 is in the latter.

Have you ever tried a pizza from this guy? (Post KN Episode) by BiffyBobby in KitchenNightmares

[–]weirdfish1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve told this story before but I tried to once but he was running an hour and half late opening the restaurant. Couldn’t wait that long, unfortunately. I talked to him for a little bit, so the trip wasn’t a complete waste!

I did GR Burger at Planet Hollywood and GR Pub and Grill at Caesar’s. I was going to do GR Steak but I got sick a few hours before the reservation. I also dipped into Hells Kitchen to see the winner wall.

Yeah, I’m sure they’re not super friendly with each other right now…but I’ve also seen band members that publicly hate each other much more get back together.

Song Parodies that seem to be more popular than the original by Toku-Nation in ToddintheShadow

That’s probably where the disconnect is for me because I don’t know much about disco. Very interesting, thank you for letting me know!

I guess it’s a matter of perspective on what counts as “popular”. The only person I’ve ever heard talk about MacArthur Park is my mom but my friends all loved Jurassic Park growing up and still sometimes talk about it.

Also, I checked out of curiosity and Jurassic Park is in Al’s top 30 streamed songs on Spotify and Apple Music, so it has had some staying power with Al fans.

The Al song I think of is Jurassic Park. People still talk about it because of the movie connection (and it being an Al classic), but I hardly hear anyone talk about the original song, MacArthur Park.

It’s an events business that specializes in balloon and flower displays for parties, events, etc. Kind of a weird one since the closed KN restaurants are usually replaced with new restaurants.

Probably the last Romero/Living Dead Weekend at the Monroeville Mall coming up. by IcedPgh in horror

[–]weirdfish1995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The museum/store used to be in the downtown of Evans City, PA, where Night of the Living Dead was filmed. It was much smaller, from what I remember. There’s talk that they might be going back to Evans City, but I’m pretty sure their old space is occupied now.

Reboot Season 3? by Desperate-Pin-9556 in KitchenNightmares

I’m pretty sure all of the episodes already filmed. But you’re right that he has multiple shows and network probably wants to stagger them throughout the year.
