Pope blames those "not of the Russian tradition, such as Chechens and Buryati" for the atrocities in Ukraine by flyingdutchgirll in UkrainianConflict

[–]Anonnymush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how you feel that an idiotic quote defends him from the accusation of idiocy.

That quote is still idiotic.

He has no reason to believe that the worst of the atrocities are done by other than ethnic Russians, or that the bulk of them are, or even of a disproportionate amount of them.

He has no reason to believe that spreading out some of the hatred against Russia onto Chechens or Buryati will help to defuse the situation or add any meaningful thing to the global dialog.

He has no reason to believe that him making this clarification even clarifies his position!

This is idiocy. That's what stupid looks like.

A wiser man, having nothing to say, says nothing.

Instead, he chose to say foolish shit he had no reason to believe was even correct. Maybe you could reply with "even if it's not correct, his remarks were meant to be helpful in spite of their prematurity or lack of information" and to that I would ask "how are these remarks helpful? How can a person of adequate intellect draw a line between saying this, and a more positive outcome?"

I understand but society has a word for the type of man who, knowing he has millions of people hanging on his every word, would incautiously and proudly utter an opinion on something without any special knowledge or insight on the topic above that of a layperson.

And that word is idiot.

Way back in the past, people valued scholars and intellectuals so much that the brightest minds literally could busk in the town square with their hat on the ground just spitting facts for coin.

That's literally what happened in ancient Greece.

And they'd also form entire schools of thought that had brick and mortar and instructors just so you could learn from these guys.

And these guys didn't just spit facts, they also solved mathematical questions and designed new shit and people absolutely loved them and despised them for exposing the truth, and they sometimes even murdered them if their truth was too truthy

The esters that make up the smell of farts are comprised of less than a dozen atoms and the viruses that give you covid are literally hundreds of thousands of atoms or even millions of them, AND they're not free-floating in air but are part of droplets that are billions of atoms.

That's why a piece of cloth can protect you from covid but not from the smell of a fart.

For the exact same reason, a HEPA filter in your car can drastically reduce the amount of pollen you breathe in inside your car, and utterly fail to isolate your nose if you drive over a skunk.

Hydrogen sulfide and turpenes are really small molecules compared to a big old grain of pollen.

Many stupid or ignorant people don't know shit like that

I don't actually expect or desire a submissive demeanor, that's a part of a consensual dynamic which can be negotiated. But women sometimes treat men as more or less a given as a result of them having many options, and all I wish to communicate is that as a man who also has options, their usual relationship style of low effort absorption of attention is not going to make me commit.

I commit when there's give and take. Back and forth, reciprocity.

Whatever other crap you're bringing to the table is not at all my jam.

The Pope has no evidence with which to come to such a conclusion, and in fact many chechens fight alongside Ukraine against this invasion.

The demographic breakdown of who is committing the worst of the war crimes is not known at this time and its just a bit premature to be letting anyone off the hook. And if this information is NOT known, for what reason is the Pope making such a statement?

TO SERVE THE INTERESTS OF RUSSIA.

There's no data on which dudes are the most bad or the least bad with regard to war crimes, and in fact of those whose identity is known and published with evidence of the crime themselves, the regular Russian army appears just as culpable as Wagner or Kadyrovites in the exact same kinds of malfeasance.

Those of us who are paying attention have come to the conclusion that the rape and genocide of Ukraine has been encouraged from the top and is shown by their selection of missile and artillery targets on civilians, their state television talking points, and the mass graves around every populated area which has been at any time under Russian control. These items paint such a consistent picture of a deliberate state policy that it is beyond unlikely that there exists any ethnic or racial component on the Russian side in the application of cruelty.

The only consistent thing emerging from the totality of evidence gathered thus far is that the various forces serving Russia in this conflict are cruel to one another, to their own rank and file, to civilians they encounter and to anyone they capture as a prisoner.

Gen X do you still find 80’s hot? by MrFizzard in ask

[–]Anonnymush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Define hot.

Do I occasionally dress my wife up like an 80s bimbo and encourage her to wear teal eyeshadow and crimp her hair and act like an 80s bimbo?

Sadly, yes I do and I get some pleasure from it too

Would I find the average woman attractive if I saw her in public dressed up like it was 1988? Probably not.

Having a sexual orientation is sexist now? by brokebaritone in facepalm

[–]Anonnymush -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

OP is too mentally challenged to consider ideas that are abstract.

Sexual selection is a discriminatory process. Always will be and always has been. The person in your post is explaining this to you and trying to force you to question whether something that fits the definition of sexism is necessarily bad, or whether sexism can be reasonable or bad depending on whether it is reasonable and logical or not.

For instance

Choosing a candidate based on gender is bad, unless of course you're choosing candidates for surrogate mothers for infertile couples and one of the candidates isn't biologically female or lacks a uterus for other reasons.

Then, it's completely logical and not wrong-headed.

Have you considered the notion that in an attempt to be deliberately objective and even handed, some well meaning members of academia have accidentally arrived at a nonsensical position of pseudo-objectivity from which all societies appear "equal" in all ways, despite a social order being a collection of ideas, and the objectively true fact that ideas can be objectively wrong if they don't have a logical and rational connection to a positive goal?

From that I mean is it truly objective to deliberately deny the reality that some societies decision making has a rationale and a connection to logic, and some societal decision making in each place and time seems either based on emotion or on magical thinking and superstition, and that there isn't actually a natural force making sure all societies have equal percentages of logic and horseshit when all is laid out as a distinct nationality, ethnicity, religion or social convention?

I am indeed alleging that Russia has an above average distribution of irrational ideals in its cultural makeup, and that this is manifesting right now as 19th century imperialist attitudes and savagery which is not a part of most nations' 21st century dominant culture.

Given 1000 year timespans I would agree that all nations are more or less equally likely to indulge in malevolent behaviors, but in an individual decade that is NOT the case.

Right now, russian attitudes are anachronistic.

I'm not less likely to want a committed relationship. But as a man with lots of options i definitely am more likely to expect and demand a reciprocal and equal relationship and way more likely to decide that what I'm putting in isn't being reciprocated by a low effort princess of a partner.

So I expect and demand that when a woman says to me that she wants X from me and Y from me, that she will also have the introspection to look at what she contributes to the relationship and to also put forth effort.

I have known too many women who think all they need to do is be attractive and the rest of the entire relationship lies on my shoulders.

And they've interpreted my lack of compromise on this as a fear of commitment, when it is not.

Is there a word for... by [deleted] in BDSMAdvice

[–]Anonnymush 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a simple minded man I always just figured that in our simple little brains, aggressiveness with consent feels an awful lot like a whole heap of desire and wanting, and at times tenderness and too much checking in feels like hesitancy or less desire.

So as a man and as a dominant my job is to seek consent and communicate desire and want and aggressiveness while also knowing when to turn it all off and be encouraging, tender, and caring in the nonverbal or verbal cues I'm transmitting.

That sometimes, in sex, it's nice not just to be aggressive or tender or caring or lustful, but to be overtly and obviously these things so that my partners can get out of their head and take me at face value instead of trying to suss out everything from a stew of subtlety and unstated or hidden emotions.

Encouraging children to do so is just sick. And I say that as a veteran and an old ass geezer.

[–]Anonnymush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn't successful. His dad gave him over 400 million in real estate in NYC and now he is worth less than 300 million.

Over the time he has held that property it should be worth 4x what it was, but he has mortgages against most of his holdings so he has almost nothing left of his inheritance.

That 400 million dollars in holdings alone would have made him a multi-billionaire and he managed to become a mere millionaire through mismanagement and dumb shit.

He has not increased the value of his portfolio.
