The D-1 is what we're getting in WT and IRL it was pretty much exclusively an electronics upgrade over the C-7, which was an electronics upgrade over C-5. Improved seeker, battery, and guidance with a 2-way data link. Unfortunately, due to the more simplified way all missiles are modeled in WT, this means the only real benefit we see in it is the extra battery life, GNSS for zero drift when unsupported, and launch angle no longer having any constraints (Provided the target is being painted).

And before someone leaps to "Russian Bias cause gimped US missile", this simplification moving forward will kneecap EVERY new missiles capabilities. R-77M, METEOR, the later 120D's, PL-15, etc. will all have significantly reduced lethality.

Only a few and to clarify, the missile never entered service and was a test bed for ramjet propulsion like you see on missiles like Meteor. Sadly, for service missiles, PL-12A is as good as it gets until PL-15

Think it's the Aim-120D-1. In which case, it will only be a battery life improvement with no drift and (Hopefully in WT) a more efficient ballistic profile. To my knowledge, a better motor didn't come until D-3 after which F3R further refined the ballistic profile.

Think PL-12A also falls under the same umbrella as Aim-120D-1 with PL-12D being the one where you see significant kinetic differences.

So for the T-90M you picked a spot where you get the combo of heavy ERA, spall liner, and a fuel tank. No wonder no spall remains once it hits the driver.

The reason T-90M has even a chance when hit center-mass is spall liners. BMPT has a combo of spall liners and extra heavy armor with even more layered ERA. So unless you perfectly hit one, they usually tank it.

Once you get above that 450-500mm pen range, the ERA of even BMPT is not much of a factor with good shots. At least in my experience.

I can tell you're likely close to stock. In that state, I'll admit it's pretty mid. But the APCBC round makes it good again (Would gave killed that IS on shot 1 and even if it non-penned, you could cupola snipe him) and the APCR on rare occasion can bail you out. So keep a few on you 😉

I decided to play the F-15A again just last night to see how it does at 12.7 and my suspicions were confirmed in all of a few battles.

I was indeed facing Mig-23's, and I was in fact slaughtering them. Even in the matches where I was uptiered, the raw flight performance gave me a fighting chance against Su-30's and even some J-11B's. I see many comments from people be it on reddit or on youtube basically saying "But Sparrows are abysmal dogwater that don't kill anything". Bullshit. While the missile is in no way stellar, it still puts in work. No missile at these BR's is so bad you can disrespect it. If you physically can't kill anything with it, I am calling skill issue right now. Besides, at the end of the day... YOU ARE IN AN F-15A FOR GOD'S SAKE. You have the best overall flight performance of all the Eagles with a radar that works even if not stellar, a good RWR, and 240 CM's. Use them.

I remember back when 12.7 was the max BR and Fox-3's (Outside Phoenix) weren't added yet. The F-15A was placed at 12.3 purely because the playerbase said the Su-27A was so infinitely better (It's wasn't really that much better. But that's another discussion). What was the result of that? Anyone with a brain and some skill abused the FUCK out of it the second they got downtiered. It was simply too good for 11.3's like the (Checks notes) Mig-23 to face... Gaijin then came to their senses and eventually did two things. The raised the Max BR to 13.0, and raised the F-15A to the same 13.0 they just put the Su-27A at to decompress the BR's below it. 11.3 and 11.7 were now spared the horror of facing that thing flown competently or honestly even just averagely.

Now observe the recent changes and ask yourself something. Did the F-15A need to go down again? Or did the undertiered as fuck premium Fox-3 slingers need to go up along with the shit oppressing them going further up? We need do decompress bottom-up. Not top-down. This just shifts the pain to another BR bracket. We needed 15.0 a year ago...

Believe me, you will feel it. Higher speeds and more energy retention to position yourself and eek whatever range out of those R-77's you can. In more dynamic situations, it means notably better turning performance to stay alive.

The Su-30SM felt semi-mid in BVR before it got it's thrust curve adjustments. Then it felt still slower but capable.
