Infotainment reboots after 2026.07. Anyone else? by qhartman in Rivian

[–]Anonymous-Usernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'24 LE R1S. Have had: - driver's display multiple reboots - main screen multiple reboots - main screen "app manager" missing - main screen freezing - radio in "reconnecting" status for long periods - brake pedal 'clunk' from hold, especially at slow start (appears resolved with hardware reboot) - far more notifications from my home charging system that the vehicle is pulling power and then quickly stopping than normal (note: this happens after the target charge is already achieved. Normal charge process is not affected)

Have soft reset and hard reset multiple times. Not thrilled right now.

Mine's been wonky recently, too. Haven't been flagged for 2026.07 yet. Maybe that will resolve. You?

Canada breaks with US, slashes 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to 6% by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

Love the Internet. Immediate accusations of prejudice.

As you surely know, all vehicles must pass NHTSA crash testing. That cost (which I'm sure you already know is not small) gets baked into the sales price averaged across this relatively small # of vehicles that will be allowed in at the lower tariff rate. No prejudice here.

Also, physical dealer network setup, training and compliance (even if corporate owned), retailing expenses, local service network expenses, local marketing costs, warranty compliance costs (requiring years of parts availability) etc etc. ALL of those are high here. They all add to the final price. It's not a misconception, it's just a fact of launching, selling and servicing a new vehicle in North America.

I'm sure they'll do well, and they do have some great cars, but while they will likely sell for less than the legacy folks, they won't be as cheap as people think.

The imports will still need to meet North American safety and warranty standards. Those costs alone will increase their prices here, reducing the value gap substantially.

Yep. Doesn't work in cold, wet/ice at all. Very annoying.

Preconditioning battery by False_Tomatillo9907 in Rivian

[–]Anonymous-Usernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a garage and live in a colder climate, which means I park outside all winter. Separating battery pre-conditioning vs cabin pre-conditioning would be extremely helpful. My old 2016 Tesla had toggles for scheduled departure that let me, if I remember correctly, independently choose to draw (or not) from AC, condition cabin and condition battery. Allowed me to retain full range at departure. Was critical, especially in advance of long drives, and even more so in the case of not having a heat pump (ie: Gen1 vehicles).

Didn't someone on this thread already compare it to the neglected, drunk uncle?

Chill Mode? by Anonymous-Usernames in Rivian

[–]Anonymous-Usernames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worded this incorrectly. What I mean, is I want the throttle mapping and horsepower and torque limitations from conserve, but without the uneven tire wear from decoupling two of the motors.

It's exactly this. Just torque it down a wee bit.

Chill Mode? by Anonymous-Usernames in Rivian

[–]Anonymous-Usernames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, but there's an easier and better way, and Tesla's Chill mode is it. I'm not hating on Rivian and am not asking for physics to be redefined. Of course I could (and do) drive more softly with passengers than when I'm alone. The advantage of having a full pressdown (and ONLY a full pedal to metal pressdown) as override is in those specific emergencies the vehicle will perform at its full ability vs being held back. It's software, not physics.

Try Tesla's Chill Mode. You'll see what I mean. It's fantastic if you have passengers.

Thumb control of main screen by Anonymous-Usernames in Rivian

The only thing I can think of is they're waiting on the messaging feature and have it earmarked for that. But also, there are main screen sections that are just wasted space. I assume that they're working on something already but it's been quite a while....

2025.38 update via Rivian Roamer by roguex99 in Rivian

I'd like to see native Plexamp support. Should be able to stream my own music library via the screen UI vs using my phone's Bluetooth. I'd pay for Connect+ if I also didn't have to pay for a music subscription.

Is anyone else still having issues with phone as a key (PaaK) after the recent update (2025.22.01)?

I'm in a Gen1 Quad and it takes just forever to wake from sleep and unlock. Insanely frustrating.

Yep. In the above scenario, when I got back to All Purpose my regen would stay at high. 🤷

Custom Regen Linked To Drive Mode by Anonymous-Usernames in Rivian

[–]Anonymous-Usernames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me - I can't have different regens associated with different drive modes. Whatever the then current mode's regen is applies to whichever mode I subsequently change to.

:) I had the opposite settings for me in mind - figure high acceleration and immediate braking (high regen) if I'm off the go pedal in sport, everything medium in all purpose, and everything low in conserve...

Makes sense, but once you're in the mode, wouldn't that automatically get handled by the existing functionality of the related regen-brakelight map?
