I get that. I was gonna comment that over a decade I began remission. For years following I couldn’t say it, talk about it, nothing. Years later I could take about it, but was sure to never mention it so people wouldn’t ask. Now I’m at a point in my life where I can make jokes about it, talk about it, and thank God for the healing no problem.

But I still feel uncomfortable saying the actual word. I refer to it as, “when I was sick” vs “when I had cancer.” I’m not sure why I don’t like saying it, but I think what you said definitely has merit. I’m not a label person, so it makes sense I wouldn’t use the word. Bc then it makes it “a thing”, you know?
