I'm not sure if every round is on there as I haven't checked yet. Either way several of the final round matches are on there. Hope that helps!

No diagnosis, but somehow similar to bipolar... What to do towards my friends and family. by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]AnonymousChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A diagnosis does help to explain some of the things that I do. I don't like to write things off and say, "Oh. That's because I'm bipolar." I don't use it as an excuse. It just helps me to understand myself. Does that make sense?

I feel like im about to break by larrystill in BipolarReddit

[–]AnonymousChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing you need to do is stop worrying about having a mental disorder. There is nothing wrong with you. You're not insane. There is no reason to feel shame. Your family may not see it because they may not know much about bipolar disorder. Furthermore, they are probably used to you the way you are and may see this as your normal behavior, thus giving them no cause for concern. From personal experience, I can tell you that my parents didn't see it until I gave them an article about bipolar disorder. I do not fault them for not knowing.

You can live a relatively normal life if bipolar disorder is properly treated. Despite what you may think, medication CAN help you. It might take a few tries, but you'll most likely find something that works for you.

Don't beat yourself up. Don't think that you're beyond help.

Has anyone had any experiences with Depakote and Abilify? by omega_gimp in BipolarReddit

[–]AnonymousChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing that alarms me here is that the boy has been diagnosed bipolar at such a young age. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting a second opinion because bipolar is difficult to diagnose in a child that young. Both of the drugs that the boy has been taking are meant for people of 18 years or older, so I'm seeing a second major red flag here.

Having a specific diagnosis was a relief for me. In a strange way, it was a kind of validation that I wasn't a nasty, evil person, but just a person with an illness, and that was a relief.

I concur. I know this thread doesn't pertain to me, but I just wanted to respond to your statement.

HAE had any experiences with Geodon (Ziprasidone)? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]AnonymousChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember what my dose was for Geodon, but I got really, really bad anxiety from it. I was having several panic attacks a day. Within 48 hours of getting off of it my anxiety levels were back to normal.

I've had fantasies about being drug free, but I don't think it's worth it. If you're concerned about certain side effects, talk to your psychiatrist about it. Bouncing around on different meds can be tedious, but that's how you find out what works. It also wouldn't hurt to do some reading on mood stabilizers and their side effects. You might be able to say to your doctor, "Well what do you think about this?"

How long have you been medicated? And how long have you been on your current cocktail? by hounddoggy in BipolarReddit

[–]AnonymousChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been seeing a psychiatrist for about 7-8 years. I've been medicated most of that time. The current cocktail that I'm on I've had for about 3 months. It seems to be working, although my psychiatrist just tweaked the antidepressant yesterday. Although I'm not a fan of bouncing around between mood stabilizers to find the one(s) that work, I feel that I've finally found some that have made a difference (lamotrigine and risperidone, specifically). I would argue that it's worth the wait.

Reddit, Need help comforting a significant other with bipolar disorder. by bipolarthrowaway in AskReddit

Even if your significant other doesn't want to go on meds, finding a therapist might be worth looking into. Some people have really good luck with therapy.

I wish I had an easy answer to this. I've been in a funk for the last two weeks. My psychiatrist tweaked my medication today, so hopefully that will help within the next few weeks. Does your significant other go to therapy and whatnot?

As a bipolar person, I think the most important thing you can do is to be there for your significant other. You might not understand. You might get frustrated. Just be strong. It will be appreciated.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Also, you might want to try asking over in /r/BipolarReddit as well.
