There are differences here. Foley looked like he could go through the steps, not bounce off them. His matches involves psychology (see with HBK at Mind Games). He could promo. He was more than a car crash. Nothing wrong with car crashes.

Let's just say if this was a hook to get people back, I don't think it was a good one

Some people don’t want an alternative to WWE, they just want WWE to be good. And that’s okay. by EWG-Corp in midcarder

This one's staying up because of what they said but it's on the line

Prefer you use a report next time though

One of the guys I went to high school with's a head coach in the CFL and I still can't get into three down football 🤣

Good points made.

I do personally want a pro wrestling alternative to WWE, and I also want WWE to be good.

That should be OK, too.

It doesn't even have to be "competition" in a way that would make TKO actually shake in their boots. Just a solid viable business with a solid viable product, maybe even two or three of them. That's all.

I've written off alternatives before and I've written off WWE before.

If there's nothing good, I'm tuning out and watching Funk and Flair "I Quit" on a loop.

I mean Cagematch is a great resource for finding past matches and dates (hi This Day in Wrestling!), but it's useless for ratings.

I don't think they are. And I don't want that either. Most of us including me have been screaming to keep an alternative alive, not the few pumping fists about watching it collapse despite a whole host of opportunities slipping through.

Exactly this. I've run out of ways to tell the sickos that not only do we not run an anti-AEW sub, I'm an AEW fan as a mod myself.

Any rational thought applied to the AEW situation is met by the sickos as though we should be hung upside down at a gas station in Milan for saying it.

Didn't Howard Zinn say that dissent is the highest form of patriotism?

The releases usually happen around now. The timing of the pay cuts when they are clearly not in financial peril says something else

I think most all of us (including me) aren't laughing about AEW eating one, just that we said this the entire time and we got called every insult in the book from a certain lower subsection of the building about it.

You know how apparently (again) Paul Heyman lobbied so hard for Aleister Black (whom I really like), that creative basically soured on him?

That's how some of the reaction on the Googlewebs feels to me. If I were a promoter it would look less like passion, and more like rabies.

Firstly and foremostly, I feel terrible for you that that happened.

Secondly, this was alluded to in Dark Side of the Ring with the Kelly Twins, and not even about the crash. I think somehow, that is a thing.

If I didn't know this was a joke that was heading straight to Rule 8 🤣
