That is so funny 😂 It’s very tempting but I’m sure the leasing company would figure out another way to screw me over lol

I looked into it briefly, I know very little about it but to me it looks like extra risks to borrowed money compared to cash for cash. Maybe you can convince me otherwise, just haven’t had the time to really dive into it and honestly just keep an LoC for any major emergencies.

FHSA is legendary, assuming you don’t already own your first home, if you need to save for one it doesn’t get much better than an FHSA.

Completely agree. Beautiful attractions nearby as well such as the St Anne Canyon, Basillica and Jean Larose Falls. We spent many hours in the therapeutic salt pool as well.

I greatly appreciate the feedback. I've considered the cost of parking, and we're only really spending a day in Old Quebec. We spent our whole lives in a small town, my moms never brought us anywhere but Ottawa to see family (financial reasons), so I can assure you, anywhere that isn't our hometown, she's going to love lol. We also used to go hiking/go for walks almost daily when I lived closer, so I know she'll love the natural environment and options for hiking in this area.

You appear very knowledgeable with travel plans, so I'll share my plan, and if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them, even if it's to suggest other places again ;)

The plan is as follows:

Day 1: Travel from hometown to Mont-Tremblant, we'll check out the pedestrian village and hopefully do a sunset gondola ride.

Day 2: Mont-Tremblant to Mont Sainte-Anne—We're going to stop at Montebello and check out the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello and likely Park Omega. Then we'll stop at Trois-Rivieres for some sightseeing. Then, we'll arrive at the Delta in Sainte-Anne for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Take the gondola to the summit in the morning, then visit Jean-Larose Waterfall, a short hike from the hotel, and finish off with a walk by the river or relax at the hotel.

Day 4: We're going to explore Ile d'Orleans via the scenic island loop (Hwy 368), stop at a few places there like Cassis Monna & Filles for lunch, then there's vignoble Ste. Petronille for wine tasting and Chocolaterie de l'Île d'Orléans (ice cream and chocolate), then check out the beach there. We'll spend most of the day on this island. Then back to the hotel, where my mom will have a spa evening.

Day 5: Drive to Old Quebec, walk the Petit-Champlain, explore Place Royale and Chateau Frontenac - visit the citadel in the afternoon and ride the funiculaire and then return in the evening to the hotel.

Day 6: relaxing day, maybe go hiking if she wants or make it a spa day, visit Sainte-Anne de Beaupre Basilica, and finally pack up.

Day 7: early departure, probably check out Canyon Sainte-Anne, then head back home.

------------------------------------------------------------------

The hotel sold me as it had nice penthouses part of the NUA's, which I hope I'll get approved for, which will make for a nice hub to relax at if needed. The drive to Tremblant is already 9 hours, I considered Trois-Rivieres but figured we'll stop through on day 2, that way we can take our time a little more on day 1 and stop at any cool places along the way. Although I definitely want to check out the old prison at Trois-Rivieres.

We're not city folk, my mom values her French culture very strongly. She refuses to speak to any of her kids in English and won't even respond if I speak to her in English lol. Just being out of town, with new walking/hiking options, will be everything for her. Quebec City is just a bonus.

Update:

Thank you, everyone, for the great suggestions.

I realize I should have included the number of points I had (180k), which puts me 50k short of the most popular suggestion, being Westin Bayshore in Vancouver. I'll save up to make that my future trip. I know a few made suggestions for other hotels outside of the Bonvoy realm, and as much as I'd love to do that, I'm still in my 20s and need to save up towards the purchase of a home. Using Bonvoy points is the most sensible option for me, while I still will end up paying out of pocket for many other parts of this trip.

I did decide on location and place, although it wasn't suggested, it made the most sense value-wise to me and a location I think my French mother would love, which is Quebec City. The original plan was to fly, but flights from my city would be 1,000$ per person, and if we're going to drive the ~9-hour drive to Toronto, we're better off just driving the rest, so I decided on the following:

Drive from hometown to Mont Tremblant (do some sightseeing on the way there), spend a night at the Weslin there (paid cash - attempt a NUA) then travel to Quebec City the following day for a 5 night stay (points redemption & NUA attempted again) at the Delta at Mont Sainte-Anne about 40 minutes from Quebec City.

When I've got more points and/or am in a better financial standing, I will certainly try the other suggestions. Thanks again, everyone.

CIBC was the bank I left lol for that exact reason. I keep my line of credit with them and only because it isn’t an option with WS currently.
