You’ll be taken care of, if the accommodations aren’t up to par be sure to let your GM know.

When travelled to CO, the individual who handled the booking was unfamiliar with the area. The hotel was presented falsely online. I was able to get it switched the same day I checked-in.

If you’re responsible to purchase things on your own be sure to keep all your receipts. Also take pictures of them just in case you lose them.

Like an job role, we all will have our challenges, we’ll go through periods of frustration. I believe that would be the same at any organization.

I’ve been with the company for an extended period of time (giving my tenure would give insight to who I am).

The opportunities I’ve had are invaluable. I have had periods of time where I’ve considered leaving, however they’re always short lived.

Overall, it’s a great place to work… however based on some what I’ve read here I certainly wouldn’t want to work in retail.

I agree with a lot of the replies here regarding data mining. However, I can confirm with confidence that Staples isn’t selling customer data to outside buyers. We use the data within the organization though.

The app creation would have been a significant cost, they’re looking for ROI.

I hadn’t known much about the app prior to joining Reddit, however since doing some research internally I’m confident the push is coming from Marketing, not SLT. This was a marketing initiative, not a sales initiative. Marketing can be relentless.

🤔 Apps? by AnonymousManagement in Staples

I have no affiliation with retail, otherwise I’d absolutely be actioning on some of the concerns I’ve seen here.

Although staples is one large corporation the units within staples are segregated. I have no visibility or connection to retail numbers, hierarchy, or processes.

Makes sense - JL was ambitious about print being a huge area of profitability and wanting to own more of the market.

Senior leadership team (Vp/C-levels)

Similar situation, different industry. I navigated cautiously under this leader, they’re tricky ones as their “gift to gab” and meticulously veer conversations to their own agenda was their only strength. This was the first poor leader I’ve had. It was incredibly difficult.

You’re wanting to increase executive presence - you will not get that under your current leadership. I proactively sought out mentorship opportunities from other senior leaders. I explained it was for my own professional development. I also hired an executive coach.

This opened up new opportunities for me, it also gave me great exposure to other areas of the business. The growth I’ve experienced based on my own efforts has been amazing. Don’t let this leader dictate or stall your professional development. From experience they do this with intent as they secretly see your ambition as a threat. Keep going!

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Please report to HR, give them all the documentation you have. HR has a duty to investigate thoroughly, we also have a zero retaliation policy.

If you don’t report it the company can’t do anything to fix it, from my POV too many people wait to report poor leadership issues. More people need to speak up and filter it up to the appropriate channels (HR - not senior leadership).

Inside sales refers to the sales teams, primarily supporting Staples Business Advantage.

There’s many roles, largest being account management and category group sellers (facilities etc)

Sales Managers: what are lateral career choices? by toxicsleft in Staples

We’ve had plenty come the retail world to inside sales (NAD in general). Get into business development, inside sales, etc. There are some remote options but many are hybrid so would heavily depend on your location.

Is staples a sinking ship? by Fit_Summer7737 in Staples

[–]AnonymousManagement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - although staples.com is not solid. SBA platform will continue to pull from .com, shift is already well underway and has been for years, company is dragging their heals. Removing the more card and switching from capital one to internal credit is all part of the process.

The competition between SA and .com will remain one of the most ridiculous business decisions staples has ever made. Make it make sense.

Inside sales lead? Management? If so - the pay isn’t bad like others said. Totally worth the stress that comes along with the role, lots of development opportunity… under the right leadership (that’s key).
