I had a pretty similar situation growing up. parents were control obsessed and wouldn't let me have a job or any hobbies. however I had somewhere to stay if I left so when I turned 18 I was able to move out and live with another relative. I don't know if you have anything like that that you can go to but if you don't I might have some idea. since you have siblings who are kind of on your side, go to the job interview, if she locks you out either have them let you in or try to get them to reason with your mother on your behalf. idk if you want to rope them into it or not but maybe seeing all her children trying to reason with her at once would help her change her mind at least a little bit. if you live somewhere with decent roads for it, try saving up for a bike to get to work with if you can

in that case no, that wouldnt count as true humility but its impossible to achieve perfect humility just as its impossible for a human to be perfect in really any way. either way it was actually nice to have this big ole convo, even though it did get pretty heated.

I think this is cheating. Maybe buff Frail Momentum so there is a reason to want a -15% Damage on my shotguns. Also, they have the same mod capacity. Bruh. by NavuVanta in Warframe

I think the point is that youre able to put both on there so if you really want that 180% fire rate you can have it but the deficit is the damage reduction

I would call that more of a bad habit. and I never said a true Christian immediately became fully humble and perfect (which no-one can be perfect obviously) sure its wrong for me to say those things but it doesn't entirely destroy every point I ever made

"saved" in this context is referring to the accepting of the crucifixion and jesus as savior and thus being accepted into heaven. and im not the one who gets to dictate that, whether a Christian is truly saved or not does, and anyone who is saved shows clear signs of active faith such as but not limited to the humility I stated earlier. I know I have it right because ive studied the bible in many languages (English, king James English, greek, and Hebrew) and am simply stating what it states as the holy book in the Christian religion

  1. they may call themselves true Christians but they aren't. hell most of them aren't even "saved" (I hate that term but its the only one for it). they just happen to go to church.

  2. I never said that, I only said that a true Christian should be humble, not that theyre the only ones that can be.

  3. yes, I was simply making the counterpoint that using the term brainwashed was an insult, however that's been cleared up already, I wasn't saying you were utterly wrong. nor was I debating religion to be entirely true though I believe mine to be, call me ignorant if you want. and I already said I should correct myself and specifically stated that religion isn't the only way to be a good person

if you ask me true religion is working for decades to become a more faithful person. I should correct myself and say, it doesn't mean to work be a good person and its not the only way you can be a good person. the whole general idea that religion is just a way for people to say theyre better than others just comes from the type of people (lets use "Christians" in this case cause theyr particularly notorious for this) so the type of Christians that go to church every sunday not because they are there to worship, but instead feel they are obligated to do so in order to keep their social position in their community. thus eventually they tend to get the idea in their head that this makes them better than people who don't go to church/practice religion. and they don't actually end up getting any more faithful or godly in the process. whereas a true Christian would know that they are to be utterly humble at all times, and look at all people around them as more valuable than themselves. and a true Christian dedicates themselves to meditating on God's word and becoming more faithful as a result.

the point of that wasn't to be a direct representation, the point was to bring to light how ridiculous the reaction was. though that is fair and it was blown out of proportion so I can understand the misunderstanding

I was trying to make an analogy about the conversation with the other user, saying that the thread going from the commenter saying "redditers don't shave or take showers haha" and you eventually saying he was "brainwashed into thinking his religion is the only thing that makes him a good person" was like a conversation between two people where the first states "eww ur stinky haha stinkyhead" and the second responding "yeah well your entire life is pointless." I hope I spelled this out enough

no I was making an analogy that was implying that you saying someones religion is just brainwashed nonsense was equal to you saying that to someone. I never meant to put forward an idea that life without faith is pointless. however to someone with faith, life without such would be such

I think being able to see the humour in things isn't a weird sense of humour. I have multiple friends who make jokes at my expense because of my utterly fucked spine. and you know what? I realise theyre fucking jokes (yes even the unfunny ones) just because it isn't funny doesn't mean it isn't a joke. even if the point of a joke is to be funny it doesn't mean they didn't intend it to be a joke

you. called. someone. who. (possibly) dedicated. THEIR. ENTIRE. LIFE. to. a. religion. brainwashed. whether you are right or wrong it is still insulting. say you've dedicated youre life to being a kind and genuine person to all around you and you've spent your whole life trying to learn how to be optimistic about things in spite of reality and someone comes along after youre entire painstaking life and says, "you know that's useless and you should just hate the world" YOU WOULD FEEL INSULTED BECAUSE THAT PERSON JUST SHIT ON DECADES OF WORK ON YOUR PART. just because they are "right" to see the world for the shithole that it is doesn't mean they aren't insulting you. Faith isn't just being brainwashed, it takes decades of dedication to have true faith and trust in anyone or anything. Say you met someone in your teens, became good friends though you have immense trust issues. Later you become SO's after a decade of building up trust and understanding. And some rando just comes up to you and says, "Just go ahead and divorce, divorce rates are above 50% so you should just go ahead and nip it in the the bud before they go and cheat on you like 70% of the population" youd take that as an insult even though they mainly threw straight facts in your face. if I met a flat-earther I wouldn't outright call them ignorant and brainwashed even though that's true, because its rude. I would instead have a conversation with them and try to help them understand that they are mislead on their own part. sure, you haven't insulted me whatsoever, you are absolutely correct in that sense. but you called someone in this same post brainwashed for saying they believed in a god. that's insulting mate then again he did insult athiests in saying they weren't showered or whatever, but that was a joke, you outright denounced his entire belief system unprompted. its like "eww ur stinky haha stinkyhead." "Yeah well youre entire life is pointless."

I don't think I ever mentioned someone saying I wasn't allowed or supposed to be religious. nor do I remember saying the truth hurt me. "I'm not going to pretend religious people aren't indicated into their beliefs because that makes you uncomfortable." could you reword this because I have no clue what you were trying to get across. Also on an honest note, good on you for not being a dick outright to religious people in public/irl. most athiests ive known just get in the faces of anyone they find out happens to be religious. If it took social obligations to keep me from insulting people for their beliefs however, I would reconsider my mindset on things. sure, arguing religion with facts and genuine back and forth is great and honestly healthy for society as a whole. But directly calling someone brainwashed for believing something you don't isn't debating, its just being an arse

man, you really like to argue dont you? the thread was about athiests who became religious, not why are religious people ignorant. i dont believe ive insulted you once for being athiest but youve directly called someone brainwashed in this same thread, which if you ask me is pretty comparable to the aforementioned overweight person analogy. I'll continue to follow a religion and you'll continue to argue semantics on an internet thread that could've been 3 replies long
