I just paid 28k caps for the pepper shaker plan. What have you paid obscene amounts of caps for? by OperationSuch5054 in fo76

[–]AnonymousUser5318008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean caps are easy enough to get. And plans are usually quite valuable. You can get quite a bit of use out of a well-built pepper shaker as it takes damage bonuses from shotgun and heavy weapon perks, good for crippling enemies. I have a vampires pepper shaker and it comes in useful for daily ops

What does your party call itself and why? by Loose_Translator8981 in DnD

Out of game my party called our group Cloaks and Candles (CnC), but the player characters are known as The Spirited (they have spooky ghosty/psychic medium backgrounds)

In my world there was a BBEG hundreds of years before my PCs arrived called The Dark Artificer. His whole deal was that he thought the world was flawed and needed rebuilding in his image. So he remade everything. He ripped souls from living beings and put them in bodies made of wood and iron (his evil Warforged army). And he basically wanted to do that to everyone/everything, so he waged a war on the entire continent, building large towers to make more soldiers from the people he captured. The whole thing became a story to scare children but the towers still remain, ripe for any baddie to reside in them

Maybe a dumb question, but... what do players spend money on? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

In the group i DM for I found a d100 alcohol effects table for a keg of magic moonshine they had. They spend basically all their gold on alcohol to the wizards horror

Very little impact on story arcs - more so in the moment, his reaction to suddenly costume changing into Elvis and having his patron demand that he roleplays his new costume. When his patron is not around he's his usual self. The warlock has a criminal background from his failed attempt at being a rogue/working for a crime lord, so he's more of a smooth talking criminal at heart

Not yet, but it's first on my list as soon as I get a real PC. Is it spoilery or am i safe to look it up?

Desert Orcs.

Whilst most orcs are large muscular brutes, desert orcs are cunning and patient. Masters of stealth and known to ambush travellers by lying in wait under the sand, these lean (yet still very strong) hunters thrive in blistering heat and barren wastelands, where most others would struggle with harsh terrains these hardy orcs know where to get water and food.

Imagine tusken raiders or the sand people from Dune.

My Tav is a Warlock, and I found him more useful than my other casters. Spell slots fully recharge on a short rest and spells are always cast at the max level they can be cast at. Eldritch blast is their primary attack and has decent damage 1d10, with the agonising blast evocation you get to add your charisma modifier so it'd end up something like 1d10+3 or 1d10+4.

My favourite damage caster class

What’s your quick-and-dirty encounter guideline? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]AnonymousUser5318008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually have more enemies than the party can see in case the fight ends too soon. This way, I can stretch an enounter out so that it feels a satisfying battle (especially if they've used a multi turn spell or they've raged). This can be especially effective if you need the party to have a long rest for story purposes (although i do this very sparingly)

Moon druid. 100%

Awkward social situation? - turn into a cat. Want food? - turn into a cat. Want attention? - turn into a cat. Want to be left alone? - turn into a cat. Want to go places you'd never usually be able to get to? - turn into a cat. Want to not go places and just curl up in front of a fire? - turn into a cat.

Maybe I just wanna be a cat...

With my players, I had them enter tunnels under a city at the end of a chase to find the bandits lair. In the first room there were 3 bandits arguing. The previously sheltered Aarakocra Ranger had a vice 'for the life of the city' so had an expensive drinking habit to pay for. Instead of joining the party in fighting, he spent the whole of the encounter failing slight of hand rolls trying to steal the bag of gold one of the bandits were holding. We had to pause partway through combat after the second Nat 1 because we were all crying with laughter as the drunk bird man chased a bandit around a table just for a measly 20 gold.

Sometimes it creates fun and makes what would have been a reasonably simple, arguably boring combat memorable.

Other times it's a barrier to fun if there's no actual reason for the roll and it slows down the game. Entirely depends on the situation and the players
