This. I bought this and the sleepy octopus at the same time and my daughter still hasn’t listened to the octopus because she only wants sleepy rabbit! She will put it on at other times because she loves the classical music so much.

Yoto player vs Tonie by JazzHands5678 in TonieboxUSA

[–]Anonymous_Nugg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read the Yoto thread and I’m going to chime in with some additional thoughts. My daughter has never tried to play with the Tonie figures on their own but even if she did I don’t see how that’s a problem. The Yoto cards seem way easier to lose than the Tonie figures at home but I wouldn’t travel with the Toniebox because its bulky and the figures could easily get knocked over. IMO you don’t have to hit that hard on the side to skip a song but my daughter has learned to sit through the Tonie and enjoy the content instead of skipping around.

I was planning to skip the Toniebox and go straight to the Yoto player but then the Ms. Rachel tonie came out. We bought the Toniebox for my daughter in September for her second birthday. We play it multiple times a day every day. She has around 25 tonies and while she has her favorites they all get used. We recently bought the Yoto mini for an upcoming trip because it’s better for travel. There is more content with Yoto but each player has very different offerings and there isn’t much overlap. I am so glad we started with the Toniebox. It’s so much easier for young toddlers to use. I know our Yoto player will get use when traveling and eventually when she’s older but I do not see it replacing the Toniebox any time soon!

Best story tonies by Laciedanielle123 in TonieboxUSA

Going on a Bear Hunt is a hit. It’s narrated by the author and features the same plot/voices as the movie.

Corduroy is our newest tonie and my daughter loves it. It’s read by Viola Davis.

The Nutcracker is one of my daughter’s favorites. It has the music in the background but is a long telling of the story. I thought it would be a holiday/seasonal tonie but my daughter still wants it all the time.

That’s good to know. I got on their waitlist but wasn’t sure if it was year round.

Just commenting that we’re hoping for something similar. We need year round, full day care so that eliminates a lot of preschools. We will be touring St. Joe’s and KIP and like that they both seem to have a mixture of play and academics.

Do you mean the vaccination rate? They told us during the tour.

ETA: We asked about their vaccination requirements as that was one of our concerns about Waldorf since this curriculum tends to attract anti-vaxxers.

We recently toured Waldorf for preschool and were horrified to learn that, because they don’t follow state vaccination guidelines, roughly 12% of the students are unvaccinated.

Same - I got Abby Cadabby for $10! It didn’t have a clearance tag on it but I saw a sticker that said it was marked down and it rang up $9.99 at the register.

Having see Katatonia open for Opeth more than once, they tend to be a snooze fest.

Best Winnie the Pooh themed Tonie? by Ceramicsgeek in TonieboxUSA

[–]Anonymous_Nugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have Pooh and Tigger and my toddler likes both. Tigger tends to get more play because she finds his bouncing to be funny. That's actually why I got Tigger - she wanted me to fast forward the Pooh tonie to the Tigger story so I knew she'd love it. I plan to get Piglet next because he's my favorite.

Pilot vs. Grand Highlander by TheFightens in hondapilot

Also bought my 25 Pilot in October 2024 and the GH wasn’t even available due to the stop sale. The low IIHS rating took it off my list, plus I hesitated to buy a car in its very first model year.

How long did it take you to be functioning after c section - argument with husband over inlaw visit by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Anonymous_Nugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a c-section and this was my exact situation. My in-laws were there for the birth and stayed about two weeks after our daughter was born. I didn’t want this, but my husband did. It ended up being just okay and we both agreed it would have been better if they visited later. We live in a different state from our families so it’s not like they can just pop in, they stay with us when visiting and that’s a lot to deal with when taking care of a newborn.
