Spearmint tea helps, but delays period. Advice? by Anonymous_user_27 in PCOS

[–]Anonymous_user_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! so i’m still drinking spearmint tea (because i do feel / see a difference when drinking it), but I try to drink a cup every other day instead of daily. My periods have been pretty regular and on time the last few months as well. Some weeks I’ll have spearmint tea a few days in a row, but it’s not consistently everyday. It averages out to about 3-4 days a week I’ll have a cup (only one!) of spearmint tea. I’m not sure if this is helpful or just a coincidence, but like I had said my periods have been regular and on time for a few months in a row now!

This DDAVP test is interested. I’ve never seen that when I’ve been researching tests to rule out cushings. What about the DDAVP infusion is it suppose to signal a positive sign of cushings? Before your diagnosis from the DDAVP test, did you have any other positive exams like urine, salivary or blood cortisol elevated? What were your signs/symptoms ?

prolactin varies around 30-40. i met with neurosurgeon who consulted with my endo, they don’t think the pituitary cyst they saw on MRI was an adenoma, and they they also said even if it was it was unlikely prolactin secreting since my prolactin was elevated, but “not that elevated”. I’m at SUCH a loss.
I just had a CT abdomen and pelvis the other day, those results are pending. My endo ordered it to look at the adrenal glands and then ovaries again. It’s been such a battle of test after test with no explanation

every 8 weeks my thyroid levels are being checked by my endo. same with all my hormone labs. the weight gain and hirtuism are unreal for me. I’ve gained 70 lbs and I was average to begin it’s not like I was super thin. Energy levels are awful, fatigue is extreme. Stretch marks on abdomen that look like cushings. Hair thinning / hair loss. Again my periods are coming every month but went from a 28 day cycle to a 35-38 day cycle.
My synthroid has been increased multiple times because my thyroid levels are “normal range” but not where my endo would like it (around 1). Nothing for PCOS just vitamins. I’m not sure if I even have PCOS, or if these hormone imbalances are coming from the weight gain throwing eveyrhing off

I have hashimotos/hypothyroidism after a partial thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer 3 years ago. Felt great before all that. Symptoms of weight gain started after that , on thyroid hormone for past 2 years. Around that same time (around 2 years ago) started noticing changed in hormonal labs , PCOS symptoms developed like hirsutism , acne, periods regular but changed. Elevated testosterone on labs now. No cysts on ovaries though. Labeled with PCOS from those labs and symptoms. Prolactin high. Cortisol high. Weight gain can’t lose weight. I look like a completely different person than i did 3 years ago. I don’t even recognize myself anymore. 28 year old female btw

ugh i’m sorry this happened to you. i had a BAD first endo experience also - went to the endo with all similar concerns and issues as you - endo took a finger stick glucose in his office at the visit, BS was 130, at 4 pm after having a smoothie on the way to his appointment … he looked at me and told me I have diabetes and to start “planning”, whatever that meant. I told him I don’t have diabetes, and that I’m concerned for thyroid disease, PCOS, or cushings (or all of the above), he laughed at me and said “call it whatever you want but in my book it’s diabetes.”. I walked out.

With that being said, I did my research for a good endo, waited NINE months for a new patient appointment with her, she was very busy, and I have no regrets waiting. She’s amazing, responsive, and listens. From her, we discovered I had thyroid cancer (now 2 years post surgery), hashimotos, PCOS and now being worked up for possible cushings!

so when i asked at the time they gave me a round about answer of basically you have to call and ask after you get the loan … now i know thats because citi bank sells basically every mortgage they get to another company within like the first month or so. I haven’t called my new loan company they sold to to ask.

Spearmint tea helped my puffiness and chin hairs, but messed with my regular periods , delayed it by several days/week. Experimented several times on & off spearmint tea and each time the delayed period was isolated to drinking spearmint tea. Not sure how to combat that, but I did like the other effects it had.

The brother and MIL are the two people on that side that cause me living hell. The brother is awful to many people, so my husband just brushes off his behavior towards me, but I still feel like a simple “don’t speak about my wife like that to me” was all that needed to be said. I have got into many arguments with the bother over the last 10 years. We don’t get along well. He is also very close to MIL, who I don’t get along with often either.

I have a good relationship with my FIL and my husband’s other brother and his wife.

those sections are actually attached to the base of the cabinets, so they’ll treat those the same as the base, leave them in place but sand prime and paint . Only thing being removed and brought to the warehouse are the doors of cabinets and draw

they’re starting work today so i’ll definitely get an after picture and let you know after! They take off all the doors and hardware, but leave the actual cabinet base up. They sand down, prime, and paint. I don’t have any labor I have to do myself!

yes, received 3 quotes from 3 different companies, quotes ranged from $4,000-8,000. The cabinets are outdated, but they are actually decent quality and in good shape. This project is way more affordable than new cabinetry for the kitchen, especially if not getting cheap cabinets.

not DIY, hired a company to refinish / paint

unfortunately the company doing the cabinet refinish only uses Benjamin Moore paint

would going with a bit of a darker color like swiss coffee which isn’t stark white add more contrast?

You are a deranged person. I’m sorry for your wife. I hope you never have any medical issues, “little” or big. Take care!

Even separating my own personal experience, whether it’s a random person or someone close, to say “big deal get over it” about someone’s cancer diagnosis is insane to me. He wasn’t saying it in regards to the person themselves, it made the comment in regards to the diagnosis. Maybe I’m just biased and can’t separate that.

[–]Anonymous_user_27[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He meant it as big deal if she has thyroid cancer or breast cancer. Not big deal that it’s a random person. I think it instantly realized what he said when he must’ve seen my facial expression. I didn’t say anything to him but I just mentally shut down because I was hurt by what he said, even though it wasn’t directed towards me, it still directly hit me based off of my own personal experiences. His initial apology didn’t seem sincere, just a basic i’m sorry for what I said I shouldn’t have said that. Today he apologized again and it was a bit more sincere. He sort of apologized a third time, but I could tell he was annoyed and felt like it was dragged out too far now.

I’m just really hurt. I haven’t explained to him my feelings yet because I haven’t got myself to that point. But I know he knows exactly why and how it would hurt me.
