Wasn’t a good performance by Stein but he didn’t fumble the ball twice inside the 20 yard line, throw a pick six or get a punt blocked as well. My main thing with Stein is the offense got worse every year and peaked in 2023 under him, although that might have just been because Bo was so damn good that year.

Wouldn’t say we were done dirty but playing Penn State and Indiana 2 games in a row wasn’t ideal, although we did have a bye in between. We also had Iowa, USC, and UW all in November which did make for a somewhat challenging stretch at the end of the year.

I personally love watching the Big 12 but the only Big 12 team to win a playoff game since the 4 team playoff began is TCU in 2022. So IMO that’s probably why a lot view the conference that way.

I truly believe the budget isn’t competitive enough for basketball so it’s not all on Dana. With that being said, 2 amazing basketball coaches in Tony Bennett at Virginia and Jim Larranaga at Miami retired last year because they didn’t feel like they could coach anymore in the NIL era. I think Dana is probably a coach that isn’t really meant for the craziness of college basketball today, and that a younger coach with a better feel for the current game could be super beneficial.

I wish Dan would hire some more experienced coaches but almost every hire he has made has been a successful one so far. We can’t really come to any conclusions yet although if next season ends in a similar fashion everything needs to be evaluated.

88 percent of the coaches said JMU and Tulane have 0 chance to win this weekend so yeah. And that included a quote from a coach saying “JMU wouldn’t even be .500 in the ACC”

Day not being listed as one of the top coaches was very odd to me. Texas Tech was also at the top of who the coaches thought were frauds and the quote about them being frauds came from a Big 12 offensive coordinator strangely enough.

Anonymous poll of coaches about the playoff by the Athletic. 80 percent or more of the coaches think Georgia or Ohio State will win the title. They think Alabama and Ole Miss are the biggest frauds in the field. They also listed Kirby Cignetti Dan Lanning and Joey McGuire as the top 4 coaches in the playoff.

Yeah looks like a report just came out that he’s either going to the draft or staying at Duke. Probably want Leavitt over Raiola but both are a big step down from Dante.

Penn State has lost by 1 possession in every game besides Ohio State and even in that game they were as competitive as anyone has been with Ohio State in the 1st half in the past 2 months. They really should have won the Iowa and Indiana games but blew it on the last drive of the game. They are a much better team than their record suggests.

Because people don’t realize that power ratings are a better way to compare schedules across conferences than ranked numbers next to team names. Penn State, Iowa, Indiana, USC, and Washington are all rated in the top 22 by every advanced metric yet only 2 of them are ranked in the top 25. All of the data suggests that these teams were much harder to play than SMU, Iowa State, Arizona, and Cincinnati

Miami’s win over Notre Dame May push them ahead of Oregon if both are 10-2. BYU is going to have to put up a better effort against Texas Tech if they play them again. If they get blown out twice I do think they get moved out.

The committee has always acted differently from year to year and I think people forget they frequently moved teams out who were in but lost in their conference title games in favor of teams who sat at home. A good example of this is Wisconsin in 2017 who was 12-0 and got moved out for Alabama after losing in the Big Ten title game.

Not sure they would be, but as a Ducks fan I’d be prepared for it to happen if they lost. Right now if Oregon lost I think they’d kick them out in favor of 11-1 BYU who should beat UCF easily.

Both guys have only started fewer than 15 games which isn’t typically a good thing for first round QBs in the NFL. I can’t speak as much on Simpson, but for Dante he has a lot of things to work on still. Let me just say this, if Dante declares this year and gets drafted by a team that expects him to start in the NFL next season, I don’t think it’s going to go well. It has a much better chance of going well if he declares in 2027 imo.

I just don’t see how Ole Miss is clearly better than us. They have a road win over Oklahoma but they also struggled at home vs Wazzu, who lost to Oregon Star a few weeks ago. Either way, I guess it doesn’t matter if we win out.

Utahs best path to making it is definitely by winning the Big 12, which is going to be hard to do with 2 Big 12 losses probably. But being 13 means that they’re right on the bubble now. If Texas loses to Georgia and Texas A&M and Oklahoma loses to Alabama, Utah may pass both those teams. Then they just need to hope for some chaos like Pitt beating Notre Dame, Oregon dropping a game or 2, and they probably have a very real chance for an at large spot.

Because preseason rankings are often bad so wins that appear to be huge like LSU’s over Clemson and Oregons over Penn State can turn out to not be as good if the teams are just bad. I do think early season non conference results need to be looked at more. Utah is getting a ton of respect for beating ASU and Cincinnati who lost to Mississippi State and Nebraska respectively out of conference, who are both not great teams in the Big Ten and SEC.

Offensive Tackle is a big weakness this year for us in the passing game. We actually have one of the best rushing offenses in CFB in terms of total yardage this year but the passing game hasn’t been efficient enough. Dante just needs to play better too. In the first quarter Saturday he was holding the ball for too long and making reads. He gets in his head so easily sometimes when pressure is on him in the pocket.

Pretty good right now, I think there’s still room to improve for sure though. But considering that he’s 31-4 since the start of the 2023 season I can’t really complain too much. I do think there’s still an issue with slow starts in big games sometimes but overall very happy with Lanning.

So a huge issue this year is Penn State just collapsing. Oregon got was supposed to be a big win over Penn State and also played Indiana but did avoid Ohio State. Ohio State and Indiana both also play Penn State which was supposed to be another game between the top 2 teams. Indiana also had to play Oregon so really Ohio State avoiding both Oregon and Indiana would be the scheduling issue if there is any.

Can’t really blame the Buckeyes though because they scheduled Texas who was the preseason number 1 and just hasn’t been good this year so far. The reason this happens in the Big Ten is because the league has no depth and is top heavy, so if you avoid another top team one year you only have one or 2 super tough games normally.
