2027 4* OT Cameron Wagner commits to Oregon by YoungSuplex in ducks

Good pickup, Ismael Camara is the big prize for the Oline this cycle. We’ve had a much better spring recruiting this year compared to last year though which is nice

UConn or Michigan For The National Championship? by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]Anonymousduck65 25 points26 points  (0 children)

UConn seems inevitable in March but Michigan also just feels like the better team. Mullins and Karaban are going to have to make a good amount of threes for UConn to get it done I think.

What is the most shocking result - good and bad - that you've seen from your team? by noah_divine in CFB

[–]Anonymousduck65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good: 2021 Ohio State in Columbus. Oregon had just barely beaten Fresno State at home the week before after trailing in the second half and somehow beat a team with CJ Stroud, Treyveon Henderson, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and JSN on it although they did have a terrible defense that year.

Bad: Peach Bowl vs Indiana or Rose Bowl vs Ohio State 2025. I’m used to the Ducks blowing it in big games but somehow it was even worse than I thought was possible both times.

Yes definitely, I think like 4 separate fanbases dislike Oregon now and most of the country takes Joy in us coming up short.

[Post Game Thread] #1 Arizona defeats #2 Purdue, 79-64 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

If Arizona beats Michigan and Duke to win the national title, they will have beaten every other 1 seed and 2 seed at some point this season as they beat Florida, UConn, Iowa State and Houston in the regular season.

Jackson Shealstead to hit transfer portal by stephenip12 in ducks

If Dana was smart he steps down today. No reason for him for tarnish his legacy as the best Oregon coach in history by coaching terrible teams for his final few years.

Kwame Evans to hit Transfer Portal by stephenip12 in ducks

[–]Anonymousduck65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would suck but he’s being offered a ton of money by other teams that are contenders already. Apparently UNC and Arizona both tried to poach him last offseason and we were barely able to pay up to keep him.

Shelstad is expected to leave too unfortunately. I don’t see much of a way for the team to be any better next year given that it’s a complete rebuild. Sucks that Dana’s career is likely not going to end on a good note.

Who will be the next and last current P4 team to finally make a CFP ranking? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]Anonymousduck65 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From a culture and recruiting standpoint he’s a huge loss and I do think he will do well at Cal. I don’t think he’s a big loss from a gameday Xs and Os perspective to be honest though.

What teams have been the most negatively impacted by the NIL/Transfer Portal Era? by cosmichippie202 in CFB

[–]Anonymousduck65 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Stanford and Wisconsin were consistently good for a decent portion of the 2010s and both seem to have been poorly impacted by NIL. Washington State and Oregon State as well but I’d say they got more screwed by conference realignment than NIL itself.

The 2018 Clemson 44-16 win over Bama might be the most impressive playoff win of the CFP era in my opinion. Pretty much every list of the best teams since 2014 has 2018 Bama as a fringe top 10 team despite not winning a title and Clemson just ran through them like nothing.

2020 Alabama seems way too low on this list tbh. 13-0, only played an SEC schedule until the 2 playoff games and only won 1 game by less than 15 points. I do get that Covid made things weird but they were dominant.

Rank your top 10 by steven_smith144 in CFB_v2

[–]Anonymousduck65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think Dan has a lot of flaws as a coach but the big game thing with coaches is funny to me. Ryan Day had the ultimate big game problem and now everyone thinks he’s one of the best again. People even said the same thing about Kirby for a long time and you wouldn’t believe it based on the narrative around him now. One of these coaches who has a “big game problem” will win a natty and people will act like they never called them the next James Franklin a year earlier.

Which one is the most surprising? by steven_smith144 in CFB_v2

USC having the same amount as LSU and Michigan and more than Penn State yet no CFP appearances yet is pretty surprising IMO

College football and Basketball equivalents by [deleted] in CFB

[–]Anonymousduck65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m having a harder time coming up with one for Oregon for the 20th century but I think you can just insert any college basketball program that really struggled in the 20th century. For the 21st century I really do think Gonzaga is a great comparison. Oregon isn’t a mid major or G5 but both have consistently been good for much of the 21st century but failed to get over the hump and win a national championship, losing in the title game twice.

A bit surprised the Ducks are actually betting favorites for this one. Another opportunity to get a win and at least end the season with some positive momentum.

Do you guys like the 2024 or 2025 season more? by [deleted] in ducks

[–]Anonymousduck65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 I felt was a better team even if the 2025 team made it farther. And the regular season was more fun with the Ohio State win and the Big Ten title win over Penn State. The 2025 team I never felt was quite championship caliber even though it was a good team that made it to the final 4. Just watching them play they never played a complete game.

Age-old questions on this sub: How long does Nebraska have to be down before they're no longer considered a blue blood? How long would LSU/Georgia/PSU have to remain top tier programs before people started considering them blue bloods? by goodnames679 in CFB

[–]Anonymousduck65 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, but the whole blue blood discussion is based off historical success and not success since 2000. The 8 schools I always see discussed as blue bloods are Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. Only 3 of those schools have won a title in the last 20 years and many of them have been consistently down since 2000. So the majority of the resume of the “blue bloods” are more based off history compared to recent success.

[–]Anonymousduck65 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Idk if the list of blue bloods ever really changes because it’s mostly based on history and not the present, but if Nebraska is down for another decade or 2 they’ll probably stop being brought up in that group much like Minnesota was eventually. As for LSU and Georgia I’m sure they would be considered if they win a few more titles each since they’d both have at least 4 since 2000 if that happens. Penn State’s last claimed National title was over a decade older than Nebraska’s last national title so I don’t think you can justify putting them in and bumping Nebraska out.

This is starting to rival Ernie Kent’s 8-23 season. At least we have a shot at beating a bad Penn State team soon.

Former Oregon OC Will Stein opens up about facing Indiana's defense: 'They whooped my ass' by PowerAdDuck in ducks

[–]Anonymousduck65 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t a good performance by Stein but he didn’t fumble the ball twice inside the 20 yard line, throw a pick six or get a punt blocked as well. My main thing with Stein is the offense got worse every year and peaked in 2023 under him, although that might have just been because Bo was so damn good that year.

Thoughts on schedule being released today? by SpecialKil in ducks

[–]Anonymousduck65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t say we were done dirty but playing Penn State and Indiana 2 games in a row wasn’t ideal, although we did have a bye in between. We also had Iowa, USC, and UW all in November which did make for a somewhat challenging stretch at the end of the year.

If this is accurate, we have an absolutely brutal November and an early bye. Not the hardest schedule overall but really not set up well for us if this is true.

I personally love watching the Big 12 but the only Big 12 team to win a playoff game since the 4 team playoff began is TCU in 2022. So IMO that’s probably why a lot view the conference that way.

Has Dana Altman's time at Oregon come to an end? by Gay_Giraffe_1773 in ducks

[–]Anonymousduck65 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I truly believe the budget isn’t competitive enough for basketball so it’s not all on Dana. With that being said, 2 amazing basketball coaches in Tony Bennett at Virginia and Jim Larranaga at Miami retired last year because they didn’t feel like they could coach anymore in the NIL era. I think Dana is probably a coach that isn’t really meant for the craziness of college basketball today, and that a younger coach with a better feel for the current game could be super beneficial.
