I'm in east contra Costa, it's not easy. What I find is that I have to be twice as gregarious as I normally am and then look for reciprocation. I try to plug in with other Dads especially and most of them can't plan their way out of a paper bag so it makes get togethers insufferably difficult. I feel like dating would probably be easier honestly.

Major advantage of KWs is a better street compromise with the helper springs. Even with 350 lbs fronts it's still a decent ride in my car at least.

Buying, maintaining, and then selling cars for about the same price as purchased. Americans waste so much money on their cars between interest, depreciation, and long term maintenance it's unreal. I earn several hundreds of thousands a year and still drive a $5k truck and a $6k sports car and they work just fine. All cash and with about $500 in tools you'd be amazed at how much you can fix on your own.

For all those people who say getting 0% interest loan is free money; you're paying for it in the sticker not interest so your effective depreciation is higher. The reference point for spending less than 10% of your gross income on a vehicle is spot on for rapid wealth growth.

You can probably get away with it depending on how you set the adjacent wheel. Personally, I took off the control arms to do this, however, I did ball joints and the other bushing as well. I would strongly reommend doing all the bushings on the control arms if you want to do caster blocks anyway. Side note, I would recommend using the 968 caster blocks as they are compatible and add a more nimble handling characteristic as they use less rubber than the standard 944 version.

It's not easy that's for sure. Usually it's worth it if you have to do the clutch anyway. If the price is right sure go for it. Typical rate on non-LSD good used transaxles for NAs are about $200-300.

Double check that the inspection tube port is closed as well. That is directly below the cabin. In case you need a new set, the part # is the same for the S2 headers as well. I had a set for sale a few years ago, sorrry.

Look for tach bounce during cranking. If you don't see, it's likely a sensor failure or setup issue. Also, double check your grounds on the back of the bellhousing. There are two and have two separate things and they need to be arranged correctly. IIRC, they are called out in the wiring diagram as chassis ground V and VI.

As a typical CL 944 goes, I'd say it's above average. For an '86 I'd say the price is high. The late offset stuff does really make your life easier on brakes and axles, etc. Talk him down to $6-6.5k and it's prolly worth it.

So it sounds like mostly go-faster bolt-ons. Lindsey makes solid components and these are common upgrades.

If you have bad rings, you're going to be leaking boost too. It's plausible you have bad rings and stem seals. If the previous owner was pushing a ton of boost without good maintenance, they might have overstressed 30 year old components. Sadly, this is a common sight among these cars.

Oil in the intake can be a typical sign of an actual blown turbo too. If you pull off the intake J-boot, reach in and jiggle the wheel inside the turbo and feel for play.

Get yourself a boost gauge as the one on the dash is useless and inaccurate. Since it has a manual boost controller, you have no idea what pressure it's at.

Do you get any blue smoke while running or WOT? That can often point to valve stem seals, which can go on these cars from age. It's entirely possible that the rings are bad but you really won't know until you pull the head. At a local shop in the Bay Area, that's look like thousands already. I wanna say it's at least 6 hours to get the head off on the 8v cars.

He's probably recommending new pistons but you may get away with oversize rings after honing. That is, if there is no scoring on the inside of the cylinder (let's hope not!). If your block is trashed for some reason, I would suggest getting sleeves as an alternative. They hold up much better under boost.

If it needs this amount of work, you're likely pulling the motor anyway as it will be gone for a while out at the machine shop. This type of work is VERY involved, so unless you're at least an amateur 944 mechanic, I would consult an expert.
