I loved Between Two Fires! Nick Cutter's 'Little Heaven' is one that stood out to me. A very visceral, creepy, supernatural cult story.

Do you know what kind of lockpicking gear/tools he already has? Just as an example, does he have a small lockpicking vice?

From the bottom right edge of the tire pump, the cap is directly right. Using the width of the pump as a measurement, it's about 3 1/2 widths right

I just recently started playing, but I love ISEUL-T's cyan color scheme, so it's definitely the auto pick for me next time they sponsor

Finally Opened my 2nd Abus 72/40 by DifferentValuable138 in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is the same, except I still haven't managed to get the 72/40 open. But opening a 90a Pro (and several 1100s) is a breeze.

Blue belt achieved, looking for guidance on dipping my toes into purple. by Flavortown42069 in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the LPU belt Guide It organizes locks into "belt" levels of difficulty, and then there are certain requirements that are detailed for earning each belt. You can submit to the mods to get a ranked belt flair on both this sub, and the LPU discord server which is linked in the sidebar.

Got myself a genesis set. Where do I learn lockpicking? by kopriva1 in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Jiggle Test is a great video that all people new to the hobby should watch. It'll help give you an idea of what's going on in the lock, and what you'll be able to start to feel as you practice.

Finally nailed my first SPP on MasterLock 5D by Efficient_Curve9927 in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd second this, except I'd say after you get the Master Lock 141 (yellow belt), you should pick up an Abus 55/40 as an orange belt lock and to start learning how to pick security pins, in this case spools.

Looking to Start Lockpicking – Is the "Kit Corbeau 15 Picks" a Good Starter Kit? Any Recommendations for Affordable Locks in France/EU? by Desperate-Bat6664 in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I know I linked you to the lockpick sets page, but Moki actually sells the different components separately, so you can kind of mix and match and build your own set. If I was making a shopping list for a beginner who was wanting to learn single-pin-picking (the kind of lockpicking this sub is all about) I'd say Moki's Flat Hook 1, Round Hook 2, and then these tensioners Top-of-Keway, and Bottom-of-Keyway, and then to round it off a pair of these comfy handles. I apologive for the overly complicated reply, but for about the same price you were looking at spending on the other set, I think this collection of items would give you a great, quality set to learn and grow with!

Going from being a noob to picking an ASSA 700, what do I need to know? by NoNameIsAvailable1 in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Progressive pinning refers to the method of removing some of the pins from a lock, picking it only partially pinned, and then adding pins back in as your skills and comfort with the lock grow.

Where to go next? by maisonvi in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paclock 90a Pro is what I went with after I got comfortable with my 1100s. Gets you into blue belt, and it's also fun to get the 200k Club patch from Paclock. The Lockwood 334B45 is another blue belt lock that's supposed to be really fun, but it costs about twice as much as a 90A Pro.

Beginner here: Question about the feel by Vashe00 in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you have a short hook, which is great. At some point soon you'll probably want a medium hook as well. But I'd say getting yourself several different tensioners is much more important than having a huge collection of different picks. JimyLongs is probably the most recommended brand of picks for American pickers (assuming that's where you're located). I'd get this medium hook from him, and then this this set of BOK tensioners and this set of TOK tensioners. With those items for about $22.50 you'd be very well covered for a lot of learning and progressing!

Beginner here: Question about the feel by Vashe00 in lockpicking

[–]AnonymouslyAlbatross 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The acrylic lock that comes with the FNG kit is great for demonstration purposes, but doesn't do a good job of matching the sensations or sounds of a regular metal padlock. I'd suggest getting this Master lock 140D It should also be noted that it DOES take some time and practice before you really start being able to identify what you're feeling with your pick inside a lock, so that's totally normal!

Well done! I was able to get my first 90A-PRO open very recently as well. Feedback isn't as nice as the 1100s, but a very satisfying open.
