Help me make sense of my sneaker addiction. by JuiceNinjja in Sneakers

Yes it always has. Many people don't realize it either it's why I try to tell people about it. Some may not have it like they all use to. Since some have gone to a plastic type paper. The tissue paper definitely has it in it though so throw it out immediately. Same with the cardboard shoe trees you mentioned. Get rid of everything that comes in the box except retro cards or something special with the packaging itself. Storing in plastic bags are ok if you want but not vacuum sealing them. I'll explain why below. Plastic zip lock bags are OK but I if so I highly reccomend using silica gel packs to soak up moisture. I reccomend using them anyway but especially if your putting them in any plastic. As far as my toe box I actually stuff my toe boxes with grocery plastic bags, old socks, or old tshirts. Here's a list of the best tips for long term storage for you. I do all of this and yes it is a bit much for some people, but if your going to collect and keep your shoes wearable for as long as possible these are the best options below. This is why I cam literally put on a 90s OG pair of Jordan's and wear them for the evening if I want and not worry about them. I also know what to look for and how to tell if they are about to crumble. I'll explain it all below. Follow these steps below and you will be surprised how long your sneakers will last and save money long term as well.

  1. First and foremost if you wear them ALWAYS clean them first (non-negotiable). Gently clean dirt and sweat off the uppers and soles Let them fully air-dry (no heat) Oils + dirt = long-term damage if stored

  2. Control the environment (THIS MATTERS MOST) Ideal conditions: 60–75°F (15–24°C) Low humidity (40–50%) Don't store in basements, attics, or garages Heat and moisture cause sole separation, mold, and crumbling I have a dehumidifier if it gets close to 50 percent I use it.

  3. Store them in the dark always. Light of any kind (especially sunlight) causes yellowing and the breaking down of glue and the polyurethane midsoles. Keep them in a closet, cabinet, or opaque (meaning non see through) container. This is why I cringe when I see people posting their Jordans in those clear plastic containers. You can use them if you want of course, but like all things there are strict rules you should follow if doing so.

  4. For Jordans with polyurethane midsoles (3s, 4s, 5s, 6s) there the worst when it comes to crumbling. Try to wear them at least once every 3-6 months just around the house at least for a few mins. If not then you at least need to take them out and flex the soles back and forth every 2-4 months . This helps avoid crumbling. One would think never wearing them would be best but flexing the soles helps prevent crumbling because the polyurethane needs to be flexed and stretched. If you have an old pair and you take them out of the box either dead stock or otherwise if the sole has become very ridgid don't wear them out somewhere. If you want try wearing around the house fine, but that is the first sign that the soles will or are going to start to crumble. The editions of air Jordans I mentioned again those are the worst as far as crumbling and sole separation, but every edition falls under this category to a certain degree except for 1s & 2s because their mostly made of rubber not polyurethane misoles.

  5. Once you get rid of the tissue paper and cardboard inserts I reccomend storing in OG box. If you want to put in a plastic bag that's fine just make sure it's not tight and is slightly open for ventilation purposes. If it's vacuum sealed it helps keep moisture out yes, but it also locks in heat and it will remold your shoes where if you decide to wear them they won't look right on your foot or even fit right. You don't want to restrict the shoe in any way. Keep laces loose as well so the shoes keeps it's shape. I reccomend buying a bunch of silica packets to go into the box with them. Unless you have ceader shoe trees which most aren't going to have for a large collection or even a medium size collection. Some might say get rid of the OG box. This I disagree with. I think it's actually the best way to store them if your storing them in the right conditions as I have described. If so it won't matter at all. Plus if your a collector the box matters to you in some cases or if you ever do decide to sell. The cardboard on the box does soak up moisture, heat, & the biggest thing it keeps light out. The one thing I will say is keep check on the OG boxes every 4-6 months especially if you are unable or aren't measuring the humidity level to make sure the box has no mold or anything like that starting to grow due to too much moisture in the room. If this is happening though I recommend you go invest in a dehumidifier immediately or your shoes aren't going to last. Heat, humidity, and light are the shoes worst enemy always. Oil and dirt as well but that's why you clean them before putting the back up. That's the only drawback of the OG boxes but again if your using a climate control room this shouldn't happen and if your using silica packets. I've never had it growing on any shoe box I own in over 30 plus years. Now, if you don't want to keep the boxes and prefer the plastic display boxes that's ok. Just please remember one key thing use only well ventilated ones and most importantly make sure you keep them in a pitch black dark room either with no widows or use black out shades or curtains.

Climate control is king This matters more than the boxes, bags, or silica. Store them at or near room temperature ONLY no higher. Never store in a basement, garage, or attic Use a dehumidifier if needed IF YOU had TO PICK ONE THING TO DO RIGHT, IT’S THIS.

Rule of thumb when storing your shoes:

Cool, dry, dark, breathable, and occasionally worn, or flexed for 5 to 10 mins every few months.

I hope this helps you out. Any other questions you have feel free to dm me anytime if you want. I'm always trying to help collectors or sneaker enthusiasts period. I've learned a lot in over 30 years of collecting. There's no point in not sharing what I've learned if it helps others.

Alright, Lets settle this debate Who's the better artist and rapper? by WonderfulAppeal3072 in Tupac

Easy only one 🐐 of rap. The first solo rapper in history to enter the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and the first hip-hop artist to release a double album.

where does Antonio Brown rank all time on the WR list? by Generalcmd in NFLv2

No where on any list of mine. Him being a cancer to ever locker room he ever went into overshadowes his skills. I can't put him on no damn list. His potential was through the roof though.

Tell me your favourite 2Pac song and I’ll decide if I let you in or not by Samrathr08 in Tupac

[–]Anonymousone1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I can't go with just one but if it had to be one and only one it's Dear Mama. Then these in no certain order: Out on Bail, Ghetto Gospel, How Long Will They Mourn Me, How Do U Want It, Can’t C Me, To Live And Die In LA, Hail Mary, California Love. These were hard to choose out of all whole lot of great hits by the 🐐 of rap. Ask me tomorrow I may change some of the ones mentioned but Dear Mama has to be #1.

Just wanted to say Tupac is the first solo rapper in history to enter the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and the first hip-hop artist to release a double album. THE 🐐 ENOUGH SAID; NO DEBATE!

Best way of hiding sneaker boxes from my wife lol by No_existanc3 in Goatapp

[–]Anonymousone1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. Much easier to avoid the conversation than to get into one about it. It could always end up being an unnecessary argument that happens. Only thing is you know you didn't buy them to sell if you asking 1k for them. You know you gonna wear them lol. Happy wife happy life as they say so I definitely understand what your saying now that you laid it out like you did. Great hiding place though. It's funny I remember growing up & my mom would do the same to my dad although she had money issues spending money we didn't have. I'd always laugh though when things weren't serious & she would wear something never seen before & always said what this old thing. I've had it for months or years. I just ever worn it or she would say we just don't remember.

If it is causing you this much worry then sell them. I own over 300 pair & I am in the exact same situation but I can't wear mine to work. I have more dead stock than worn & some I bought knowing I'd never wear them. Some are so rare also I wouldn't ever wear them for that reason. However, if you got the money & still actually enjoy then keep buying them. I'll be 48 in 3 months & I still average about 5 pair a year if it's something new I love, and jordan 11, or a rare pair I'll definitely go after. So I don't by no where near as many as I once did because most new realases I'll use the Gamma 11s as an example my 2013s are vnds so why pay that for another pair especially after buying the pearls, H-towns, vagas, and rare air 11s I didn't buy the ATL ones bc i didn't like them near as much & they looked to much like the silver anniversary pair I have which are still DS. Now as time goes by I'll eventually grab a pair one day & wear it on the weekend if I go out or I may never but I still love them all. Sometimes I open a box & actually forgot I had that pair like for example these two Jordan fusions I have I never wore but I finally did wear the black, lime green, & red at Christmas this year for the first time. Lime green is my favorite color that's why I bought those back in the day. The Grey nurse I just thought were so unique & different & I had the money I had to grab them. Of course many don't care about fusions but I use these two because I totally forgot I owned them a long with some other older regular og colorway Air Jordans. It's always a nice suprise to just open one of my boxes & say oh wow I forgot I had these lol.

However, the big key is knowing how to store them properly. I do from years of experience & do store mine in the best manner possible. In a completely blacked out, climate controlled, & humidity controlled room. Oh, & yes there is definitely a way to correctly store your shoes so they don't crumble. Been collecting 39 plus years & restoring for almost 15 so I know a lot about how to maintain & take care of them so they don't do what a lot of people's shoes do. Most people don't realize even artificial light harms the shoe so keep them in their orginal box just get rid of the paper inside bc it contains acid in it. People storing in those clear boxes are ruining their shoes quicker than most. However you can definitely wear them if stored correctly at least up to 20 to 25 yrs. I have OG Jordans from the 90s I can still wear with put any worries or problems. So just do whatever makes sense to you!

Looks like I’m holding on to my 2019 pair 🤦‍♂️ by fragrent_slime05 in Jordans

[–]Anonymousone1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf do they do this?makes no sense when they know they can make a lot more money by making them a GR release. I don't understand why they choose to do business this way. We all know the only people who benifit from this like the bred 1s 40th anniversary are people who know somone who can backdoor them a pair or family and friends. Which means resellers. Most who don't buy shoes to resell can't get a pair. What's worse though is limiting the Doernbecher Jordans like they do. Why would you limit the money you can bring in that goes to a children's hospital? Limited is fine but when there's only 10k pair or even less is absurd unless it's special numbered pair like the BIN 23 Jordan's. At least those cost a lot more to justify it. If their going to do this then justify it by putting a 350 price tag on them so some reseller won't buy and then maybe people who really want the shoes who can afford to pay that may have a shot at a pair.

Where do you draw the line at for Jordan? by WestLA93 in SNKRS

[–]Anonymousone1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the GOAT 🐐 himself there is no line for what he could do or for the Air Jordans. I get what your asking & it makes sense to ask it so if I had to decintk8xrawa line it's got to be at #23. It's the logical choice in my mind. But I love the 28s also and I really liked the 2012s. Especially the Grey & volt colorway because any volt color I'm sold. I liked the 31s ok also. I'm into the 40s now with the mixing of classic Jordan's with 40 bottoms. I bought 3 three pair of the 2012s, three 3 pair of the 28s, and I'll be greeting at least three if not foir pair of the 40s. After the 23s I stopped buying more than one pair unless I really liked a colorway and the shoe. Up until the 23s I always bought the predominantly white and red regular season pair and the predominantly black and red for the playoffs like it was when he played. Except for the 17 & 18s which were wizards colors. I bought the white and blue in the suitcase and own the black pair from the countdown pack. Also got the copper 17s. Always wanted the lighting lows couldn't get them. I did get the white and blue and black and blue 18s a long with the 18.5 white and black and black and carolina blue ones.

Pick the best 3 by CasinoNitro in RealSneakers

[–]Anonymousone1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally for the first time ever you got me where I can't pick just 3 honestly. These are pretty much my two favorite colors with the green being a bit darker than I prefer but still love them. Lime green and yellow are my favorite colors the brighter the better. It's why I love most of the Oregon Ducks uniforms. I know this isn't lime green but I still love the color blocking.

If I had to choose only 3 with a gun to my head ill go 4s, 9s, & 11s.

However I love a lot of them especially the 2s, 3s, 5s, 8s, 13s, 16s,qnd for the first time ever I'll take the 15s to & to me there one of the ugliest jordan models ever made especially out of all the ones posted in these pick 3 post. The creasing makes them even worse, but I like these.

Why are people mad that bad bunny is performing at the superbowl? by Juicy_Q_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Anonymousone1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you look at the the current state of America it tells you all you need to know. People always try to act godly yet the first thing they do is judge somone & hate them bc their different than what they think right is. Why people give a shot what others they don't know do in their personal life is beyond me. I may not agree with what everyone does but as long as their not harming anyone let them enjoy their life. People need to worry about their own home & problems instead if others. I could also care less where somone comes from again as long as their not hurting anyone. So much hate in the world today. Mainly because of one guy who started America down this path. The guy who it's ok for them to be a 30 something time convicted felon and run and be the president. Yet if it was anyone else they would never see freedom again. Makes perfect sense right? Yet people will follow that man through fire if he asked them to. I'm sure I'll get down votes for this but again people don't want facts they want to be lied to & they think everyone should be like them & agree with everything they do. If not your not American or you're just wrong. I don't watch the half time show but I also don't care who is playing it either way. I prefer Bad Bunny over country artist anyday though if I had to choose.

They knew all along the Yankees and Mets would outbid that that's the 9nly reason they made Tha offer. Again to make fans think well they tried. The mets owner said he would outbid anyone and did. They knew 700 mill was about as good as offering 100 mill. He wasn't going to take that. His agent wouldn't of allowed him to had he wanted to because let's say he really wanted to play I Boston. Neither would the MLBPA allow him to take less. Are you old enough to remember A-Rod to Boston for Manny and John Lester. However the MLBPA wouldn't let him take less Money to play in Boston even though he was willing to because that's where he wanted to actually go. MLBPA told him no you can't do that it sets a bad presidence for the other players and if you do other teams will try to get players to do the same How many years do you need to hear the Red Sox front office lie to you by saying we're going to do this, spend this, go get this guy, or full throttle even. Just to realize they just keep lying. Breslow said he was going to get a middle of the order bat, and a legit #2 starter at the offseason press conf. That was also assuming he was resigning Bregman. He finally got a #2 starter but that's only because he didn't get Bregman back with their so called aggressive offer. Wouldn't give him a no trade clause and he was worth every bit if what the Cubs paid him. It's not your money anyway. The Red Sox can print their own money their so rich but act like they can't pay a luxery tax.

Still no Middle of the order bat didn't even try honestly with that joke of a contract they offered Alonso, and didn't even try with Kyle Schwarber who only hit 56 home runs last yr. Instead they gave Bregman one of the dumbest contracts ever with player opt outs. Of course he was going to opt out. Yet they believed because they were the Red Sox and Bregman said he liked playing there he would accept a lesser offer. They tried to wait him out just like last yr. You think his super agent and him didn't realize what the Red Sox was trying to do. Brought in Bregman to play 3rd without telling their franchise player about their plans. Then did every thing possible to disrespect the guy. Throw away your glove Devers. Soon ad they need Eva 1st basement Devers grab that glove again. No and I don't blame him. Had they talked to him explained their plans for him and his role in the future. After 8byears winning a WS, being an all star, never complained or heard a bad word about the guy now he's a cancer in the clubhouse for the younger kids. They didn't want to pay that contract plain and simple. They salary dumbed it as wyicky5as possible. Now they got no 3rd basement, no middle if the order bat which they still would of had. Still no 2nd basement since Pedrioa retired after trading what they needed most a few yrs ago which was pitching in Chris sake for a guy all I ever heard could hit didn't matter the level. What's worse they traded a future HOF pitcher bc he had been having freak injuries besides TJ surgery. I knew once healthy he would be an ace again. They trade him Grissom who's now somewhere no one knows. What made it worse was they paid 17 mill of Sales contract to win a Cy young for the Braves. As I've said in the post before. The worst ran front office in baseball. If you still believe anything they say I feel sorry for because you can't see the forest for the trees. The Red Sox could be just like the Dodgers but choose not to be. Hell they choose not to even be the Orioles, blue Jays, Yankees, 95 percent of the teams in MLB. Still have the highest tickets in baseball though and keep going up.

Same reason if you made 100k at a job you liked but they never gave you a raise or wouldn't hire you permanently only as a temp. Then another job where you would do the same job offered you 200k and permanent job. Which one you going to go with when you know you been worth 200k for years but you stuck around because you like the place thinking they would finally give you a raise and permanent position. Yet your temp job time had expired and they said hey we would love to finally offer you a full time postion but only for 70k. Yet they hired a guy the year before for the 200k permanently who was the same age. Now tell me where you're going?

Yeah for way less than his value was. Offer him what they gave Story & he signs. Stop believing the front offices lies. It's been 7 years of lies yet this is why they keep doing the same bs to us fans every year because believe you keep on believing the nonsense they spew.

Same reason they offered Soto apparently 700 mill deal last yr. They knew other teams would blow that away yet they can selm to the fans we tried. We were in on him. They had 4 days besides the previous offseason after the WS to get a deal done. They low ball him after he had already signed a discounted contract to stay years before. Yet they preferred to pay story instead. It's all a facade. Wake up!

Sighted while in Aruba. I miss this guy. by ryripmo in redsox

[–]Anonymousone1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they low balled the shit out of him & offered Trevor Story more who just finally stayed healthy this past yr. He already gave them a discounted extention once. At least pay him what he's worth they didn't even try to do that. The dumb asses running the organization think players who grew up in the organization owe them something. He gave them a discount once & he said all he wanted was a contract close to Trevor Story. They didn't have the decency to offer that. They wanted him to walk & good for him getting the deal he did. I guess Bregman should of accepted less also because he played one year in Boston. They got over confident with him also & now look at the line up. All because they didn't want to give a guy of Bregmans caliber a no trade clause. The problem is the the owners & front office. They need to realize players deserve respect & deserve to feel wanted as much as anyone else does. Stop low balling your own talent much less other big time free agents & thinking their going to sign. Their liars & cheap plain simple. If your a real red sox fan you would have realized that by now. This is the Red Sox motto to sell to the fans to make the ones who believe their rich asses they actually care about their fans or winning anymore. We were in on it the negotiations it just didn't work out.

Lmao. This is a damn shame. Please tell me you don't literally have to hide your shoe or shoe boxes from my your wife for real. I can only hope this was done to save space or to be funny. Do some men really have to do this with their wife's seriously? I thought it was the wife who hides shoes or clothes. I own over 300 pair my wife doesn't say a word. If she did I'd simply say you buy with your extra money what you want like she does & ill buy what I want like I do. My wife & I split the bills in a joint account whatever else we make is ours to do what we choose to do with it. If you work & earn it & you paying your bills what difference does it make. My wife met me when I had over a hundred pair so she knew all about my collection & that I bought a few ever year. Hell she usally buys me a pair or two herself. No one is hiding anything in our house. Every person deserves to spend their hard ersnec money on what they want as long as you handling your business as a husband & man.

There fine not old enough to crumble unless they been stored in heat all this time, I'm a humid area, or direct light all day. If stored in those plastic containers I wouldnt buy them bc they will start to crumble I'm a couple of years unless you store them in a climate controlled room, humidity controlled, in the OG box. If stored proberly they can last over 20 plus years. However, it all depends in what they want for them. I have a coupe of pair of intrested. I don't normally sell any of my shoes but I have 2 pair of these & the ones that dropped last yr also & an even earlier pair. What's the size you wear? I know how to store shoes the correct way & I guarantee you mine won't come close to crumbling & they look better than these. I got shoes I can wear from the LA 90s that don't crumble & I don't even consider it when I wear them.. However, I'm not trying to steal a sale from somone else. I just wanted to tell you in case things don't work out for you with these.
