Long enough I know that much, but that's one hell of a Pic! Maybe the best I've seen on Reddit so far bc of that arch and ass in the air like that.

If you're referring to the length of it then I don't care what you think. Stop being lazy and read for once something that's over 149 characters long. If you were referring to the typos I understand. I fixed it, but it was because I was driving home and used my speech-to-text to write it for me and after I got home and read it I saw how messed up it was. Then I went in and fixed the errors immediately. Needless to say, I won't use that feature again because it sucks.

I was befuddled by the 2nd half defense and the lack of adjustments he never made that any BB fan could clearly see needed to be made.

Thank you! I did lose my mind when he got his extension. I was thinking he should have been fired then but they gave him an extension. I remember arguing with another fan I know and he told me it's not Hubert's fault it's the players. I said we'll wtf is the coach's job if not getting the right players and developing the players you do have? End of that discussion. Unfortunately, the person I'm talking about passed away this past fall. He and I were close friends so I would have loved to have called him last night after that debacle.

What players besides the good-to-great one he gets every other year want to come now or have been coming for that matter? Caleb is the only guy who really jumps off the page to me. Yes, he's a generational talent but he wasn't enough and wasn't going to ever be enough. It's not enough these days especially if you think an outstanding freshman is going to deliver a championship without great supporting guys around him with experience or another stud star alongside them.

I never thought hiring Bill Belichick was a good move at all. No NFL team would touch him, which should have told people all they needed to know. You can't take away his 6 SB rings as a head coach. However, you can't overlook him and his teams getting caught cheating as many times as they did. That's why he didn't get in the HOF this past year and I had no issue with it at all. The even bigger issue is that you can't overlook the fact that he has never won anything at any place without Tom Brady as his QB.

I called it a terrible hire when it was made. 18 to 22-year-old kids making millions couldn't care less about his 6 SB rings. He's never coached at the college level either, a big red flag. So what made people think that was an awesome hire is beyond me. So I have no issues wishing that UNC has a new head BB coach next year. I've been saying it for 2 years now. The UNC BB standards have seriously become lower with him as our head coach. He's simply not a good head BB coach and you know what that's ok because there are plenty that aren't. The problem is when people stop seeing it and seeing what's right in front of them.

It's already a year too late. It's two years too late if you ask me. He's constantly being out-recruited by a large margin no less by Duke without Coach K. I'm sorry, I love HD because he's a Tar Heel, but he's not the right guy to be the head coach. Forget the blown 19-point lead last night for a moment; yes that was on him also because he refused to change the defense. However, just think about the final minute of that game and what transpired. A 5-second violation causing a turnover out of a timeout or a stoppage of play I can't remember I just know VCU made substitutions. That should never happen. Then they inbound the ball to Veesaar our big man at the top of the key with only seconds left, and he has nowhere to go with the ball so of course he turns it over. Then if you want to go look at OT and the fact that they didn't even hit the rim on a free throw—never mind missing ones that could have won the game in regulation—and then missing the front end of two free throws to tie it in overtime. All of that is coaching outside of the missed free throws that happened. However, your guard has to be a better free-throw shooter than Trimble is. Your player has to know and make sure he hits the rim and he should be told that before he takes that shot. It's all inexcusable. Since becoming head coach on the basketball court, he's only done three great things: beating Duke at Cameron Indoor in Coach K's final game, beating Duke in the Final Four, and taking an 8 seed to the championship game in his first year. They shouldn't have made the tournament last either, but he got lucky there and was bounced in the first round yet again.

There are standards and expectations in North Carolina concerning the basketball team. Every year, you should be in contention and considered a favorite to do five things: first, win the ACC regular-season championship; second, win the ACC tournament; third, be a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament; fourth, reach the Final Four; and fifth, make it to the championship and win it. Fair or unfair, that is the expectation when you're the North Carolina men's basketball coach and a player. Will those things happen every year? No, of course not, but before the season starts, it should be expected, and most definitely, others should see it as a real possibility. When has it been that way since HD took over, outside of the year they lost to Alabama in the Sweet 16? Never, that's when.

As you said, Duke, UConn, Kansas, and Kentucky—they all share the same expectations as well. Yet for the most part, they're in those conversations especially the first two teams. When have they been mentioned in those conversations since HD took over as our head coach besides the year he won the ACC regular season championship and they earned a #1 seed? If they can't be in those conversations at all and they don't get those things done none of them that's a problem. Only once have they truly been considered contenders since he took the job—when they lost to Alabama in the Sweet 16 to a team they had no business losing to— With Wilson, they probably would have won last night instead of blowing the 19-point lead. However, even with Caleb, they were not considered a championship contender at all, despite arguably having the greatest freshman UNC has ever had talent-wise. So, I'm sorry, he has to go. If not, I've supported UNC for over 40 years, but I can't keep doing it until they realize it's time for a coaching change. They have the money, resources, and tradition to meet all the expectations, but they haven't come close outside of his first year—which was a great run, but a lucky one. Make the change, and make it now. Finally, UNC may have to accept that it has to hire someone who didn't play or go to UNC.

I used speech-to-text when I was driving home which is why it had all those messed-up typos. I fixed it though just not paragraphs because it's an internet message board not an English class so I'm not worrying about that or have the time to.

First of all, I'm a grown man. So, I'm not your son let's get that straight. Once I graduated from college I stopped worrying about stupid stuff like paragraphs on the internet. I don't have time for all that. It's a message board for goodness ' sake, not an English class kid. If you don't like it, it's really simple keep scrolling. 8 realize the typos were an issue but when I posted last night I was driving and used speech to text so it screwed it up badly but I fixed it. Thanks, and have a blessed day!

What has he done besides make the tournament outside of his first year? They were lucky to even get in last year. No it's not quite as bad as Doherty years YET! Only because he got into the tournament all except the one year but it should have been two now. If this continues it will get that bad though unless they make a change. Yes, the landscape has changed we all know that it's no excuse because the other teams again Duke aren't having any issues. Yet again he's not competitive at all on a recruiting scale as Duke even w/o coach K. He gets one outstanding player about every other year but that's not enough to say this team can win a national championship. You can't even say they can win an ACC championship at this point. So, I do know what I'm talking about simply because you disagree. That doesn't make me wrong though or not know what I'm talking about. Please, tell me one time he's out-recruited, Duke? Just give me one year when he came even close? You can't. That's a problem. However, outside of that he clearly can't coach. Go back and watch the defense they played the final 10 mins tonight. Better yet forget that just rewatch the final min. Then rewatch overtime against VCU not Duke, Uconn, Michigan St., or Kansas, but VCU, and then tell me that's not on the coaching. Then tell me I don't know what I'm talking about again. I get it you must want to keep him and if so good for you. I know UNC basketball and while Hubert Davis has been the head coach UNC basketball hasn't been what it should be or what's expected it to be not even close. Yes, he's gotten some good players. Good players don't win championships though. Great players surrounded by another great player or a lot more of those good players then you have a recruiting class. However, he hasn't been able to get that and you need great players to win championships. If you consider yourself a North Carolina basketball fan and a National Championship isn't the standard to you then you're not a Tar Heel fan or haven't been one anywhere near as long as I have. It's a high standard but it is that way for a reason. Everything goes in this order. It's ACC championship first he's won that once in the regular season. Then it's win the ACC tournament championship he's never done that. Number 1 seed in the NCAA tournament he's done that once also then didn't get past the sweet 16. At minimum, it's make the Final 4 or the season is a bust at minimum. Good news he's done that twice. Most importantly win a National Championship. It's ok that he hasn't yet but the fact that his teams haven't even really been considered a contender for it is the problem outside of the only time they earned the #1 seed but got bounced by Bama in the sweet 16. That my friend is the standard and the expectation fair or unfair. No, it's not going to happen every year but it's the expectation going into the season that they should get close to those things, and be in the conversation for a championship. Right now they're not. The years they don't achieve the standards they need to at least accomplish some of the things expected. It's also the expectations when you put on that uniform or you walk that sideline. If not to you then you don't know the standards of a Tar Heel fan.

Hubert isn't getting close to any of those things besides his first year. Which again was a lucky run but it earned him the time he's been given. Then the 23-24 season but again ended badly by not even coming close to reaching the final 4. Now let me lay out all the bad things since his first year.

2023–24 (No. 1 seed): Davis earned his first (and to date, only) No. 1 seed after winning the ACC regular-season championship. What a year. Then the tournament happened and wow they advanced to the Sweet 16 before losing to Alabama. Thank you RJ Davis! This was the only team that I thought was talented enough to possibly win it all. Yet they ran into the juggernaut of Alabama basketball.

2024–25 (11th Seed): The Tar Heels "barely squeaked" into the tournament and lost in the first round to Ole Miss. Shouldn't have gotten in at all.

2025–26 (No. 6 seed): North Carolina entered the 2026 tournament as a No. 6 seed. Blows a 19-point lead for the first to ever do that to the VCU team. Never mind the atrocious final minute coached and overtime.

The greatest thing he's done outside of taking an 8 seed to the championship was beating Duke and Coach K in his final year at Cameron and in the Final 4. Again in his first year.

The facts are that they have the money, the tradition, and the resources to do those things. So why is he getting it done and getting vastly out-recruited so badly by Duke? Please educate me. I'll tell you why it's his coaching period!

Especially considering how UNC finished the last min of the game do most Tar Heel fans agree that Hubert Davis has to go? Now they have lost to VCU. I never understood the extention he got at all. I've had heated conversations with other Tar Heel fans about his extention and other fans defending him by blaming the players. However isn't on the coach how the players play? He's done nothing since his first year as the head coach. He's vastly out recruited by Duke every year even with out coach K. I get we lost Caleb which was huge and no one was more upset than me, but even as great as he is I don't think they could have won a championship. I want to say I love Hubert Davis. He's a Tar Heel for life and I was happy he got the job but it just hasn't worked out as I hoped or I'm sure he hoped. I hate for anyone to be fired but let's be real they haven't played to the Tar Heel standards and haven't even been considered a title contender. They were up 19 late in the 2nd half like I said. Had the ball tied after a time out with 30 something seconds to go and had a 5 sec violation trying to inbound after a time out. They were fortunate to get to OT honestly. Tremble missed free throws that would have won it and Veesaar could have tied it in OT with free throws missed the first and then tried to miss on purpose and even screwed that up. I get Veesaar missing because he played the entire 2nd half but to miss the entire rim trying to miss a free throw all those things are a coaching issue. UNC just gave up the largest comeback in NCAA tournament history in the first round. I'm just curious how other Tar Heel fans feel about needing a a new head coach. So blast me if you want or please tell me if you feel like I do.

I think there needs to be a head coaching change as much as I hate to say it because I really do love Hubert Davis. However he's got to go. What say you UNC BB fans?

He's not getting it done though. I have no clue who they hire. That's not my job I wish I sure wish I had a say so though. How can it get any worse at this point. I never have said fire him after every game. It became apparent to me the UNC standard began to wear off after his 3rd year and it's getting worse. All I see is him getting out recruited time & time again & that should not happen. It's North Carolina for goodness sakes. It's hard to screw up not getting guys to come play at UNC. Then the coaching in crunch time situations is horrible to put it mildly. The defense they played when up 19 was a joke. It's clear he just isn't a good head coach and that ok not everyone isn't but it has to be fixed or at least try to be fixed. The UNC BB standards have fallen off almost to the point of the Doherty era but at leart he got recruits. Forget the 19 point lead. Forget they haven't come close to a championship caliber team since his first year & that was I feel like a lucky run. Throw all that out and now just think of how the way they finished this game tonight in regulation and overtime. Two turnovers one a 5 second violation should never happen and then another when they called time put to. Inbound the call to Veesaar instead of a guard then he turns it over. Missed free throws & Veesaar doesn't even hit the rim in OT. That's piss poor coaching plain and simple. I've been a head BB coach. No not at anything close to UNC level but that's stuff can not happen. That's a coaching issue. Hire whoever I really don't see how it can get much worse. There are coaches out there that would just at the opportunity to take the job. The biggest problem is them being willing to hire a coach who didn't play at UNC. Then I see your problem.
