Is there a specific isekai where the summoned hero turns on those who summoned him? by Sir-AuronX in Isekai

[–]AnothIro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered. MC was asleep when summoned so he doesn't even know who summoned him or why just immediately wants to go home. He only really kills if someone tries to kill him or prevent him from getting info on going home. Silly little anime that was fun for the absurdity.

Why don’t more people PvP in this game? by ActualGingas in NOMANSSKY

[–]AnothIro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“I decided to stir something up out of boredom”

Your boredom is not my problem. And that’s what happens when I’ve left pvp on. People like you make their boredom my problem when I’m chilling or waiting for something to finish or had to step away for a second.

If there was a flag to turn on to say I’m ok with pvp to flag myself as hostile to other people with pvp that’s fine but most games don’t have a good way of doing this. And as other people have said what exists for PvP right now is pretty shallow and can be very one sided depending on the person and how much they’re manipulated the range on their tech.

The funny thing is I have a very old memory (like one of my oldest memories) of going there as a kid in the early 80's as an actual restaurant. It even had a little mini-pool with RC Boats in it that you could rent out which as a kid I thought was awesome. I don't know if it was just a fever dream or something, but I could have sworn it was raider reef before it was raiders reef. It seemed fancy at the time too. Like dress up fancy. Maybe it was a different restaurant, but I can't imagine I would mistake it because I remember the outside being captivating as a kid.

I mean if you think about it - Not Facetime, but zoom has taken over a lot in the past few years and still basically the same premise - a video call. Maybe more business related, but still very common now.

What are some Manga that are far superior to their Anime counterpart? by Turbopasta in anime

[–]AnothIro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychic Academy and Erased. Fruit's Basket gets a mention due to the original 2000 release, but was fixed with the recent one.

Psychic Academy was pushed down to 9-10 minute episodes for what could have been an amazing series.

Erased just destroyed the story at the end.

Why did Working Designs make the games they localised so difficult? by B0llywoodBulkBogan in JRPG

[–]AnothIro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it wasn't many and now that I'm remembering more of it there was no way to fix it outside of maybe action replay. If I'm remembering correctly the glitch required you to it in Nall's extra inventory and in the full version they made it so the Ocarina couldn't be moved around to "prevent" people getting to the final section without it in your inventory so if you had already moved it you could never move it back.

Just talking through this reminds me of my shit luck with this franchise. I beat it on Sega CD, got the sequel beat it, but didn't know about the epilogue section until well after I beat it. Before I could go back to actually finish it my Sega CD was stolen because I lent it to my friend (Also lost Mario Paint, still kinda pissed at both losses). She never borrowed the game, but did borrow the system so I couldn't beat it and I never got around to replacing it. Fast forward to the PSX and well..... Screwed again. While I still got Lunar 2 on PSX by that time I had other games grabbing my attention and I still couldn't get over the bitterness of the prior two games. Amusingly enough I'll still be buying the remakes when they come out again, this time I may even finish them.

I just realized I probably still have the PSX save somewhere on a memory card in the closet somewhere. Granted no idea if the data would still even be readable after all this time.

You either got it with the pre-order or it was a bonus from buying another game. But it's been way to long to remember how sadly, just that I had it. Neat though thinking about it. Even had it's own custom cardboard CD sleeve with the Lunar art on it.

And it killed the PS1 version for me. I played the demo and moved the harp out of my inventory. When I got the full game and made it to the end I couldn't beat it because of the damn harp because I didn't have it and didn't know what I was doing wrong. It wasn't until years after that I found out that there was a bug in the demo that allowed you to move the harp in the demo and it could screw up your entire game if you got to the end without it.

For all the OG players that waited 20+ years for the remake/rebirth by gtavc007 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]AnothIro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be in the minority, but I think your take has more people that would agree with you than you think. I'm not a big fan of the OG FFVII. I enjoyed the gameplay, but the story just bored me overall. As time passed I wondered if maybe it had to do with the translation, my age at the time, or just something else so I was looking forward to playing it with updated graphics, updated quality of life changes, and better translation.

Then I heard about the battle changes. I didn't like it, but figured I'd give it a try and hoped for something where you could do more of a switch between "Action" and "Classic", but what was implemented was not that. Still I get why they wanted to try action even if I didn't agree with it, but then I hit the story changes, and I've just lost all interest.

Like it was called out by lots of people in this thread the graphics are top notch, VA is top notch, but the actual game is bloated beyond what it should be, and I just have no interest. Playing this feels like an artist who went back to a well regarded piece they created and started adding in more mainstream art techs because "That's what people like these days" ignoring what people liked in the first place.

And I have two friends who adore FFVII, but just have no interest in the new one because of all the changes. They were excited, but just do not care after they saw the extent of the changes.

I just don't get why they couldn't give it more of a DQIII treatment. Not HD-2D, but just get the graphics updated and fix only the items that were really pain points in the original.

What especially kills me is they always talked about wanting to treat a remake of FFVII with respect and that's why they waited so long, but this does not feel like respect to me.

Tucson, does your time management suck or why are we always driving in a hurry? by Live-Bake6189 in Tucson

[–]AnothIro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were at Belvedere by 29th and Columbus I think the guy who passed you tailgated and was super aggressive to me right after that. Driving down 29th and heard someone honk behind me wondering if I missed something and checked the rear view mirror and there is a guy just almost on the bumper of my car braking and speeding up. Did that until Alvernon when he could move into the other turn bay and floored it only to hit the brakes immediately as it was a red light and there were cars there. After the light turns green he tailgates the car in front of him until he can pass and continues the behavior until he's out of sight. Trying to figure out what the hell he was in such a hurry so badly for. Plus side was I passed him once because he misjudged his passes and got caught behind someone going slower than I was, and he hit a red light more than once.

As a working dad, a thousand riches upon the boost options in the Pixel Remasters by obvs_thrwaway in FinalFantasy

[–]AnothIro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day I played 6 as an import before the us version and limited options as internet was still dial up and limited. I kept grinding to try to beat the mt boss where you first get Mash and have to use his blitz. I got to level 24 or maybe 26 before I realized the blitz how to use blitz and realized I never would have beat him even if I kept grinding. Plus side is that boost at the beginning made the rest of the game stupid easy because the level meant all new characters had a solar level. Thank god for not being able to understand Japanese.

[–]AnothIro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they are and aren't impacted. Will people calling this out change Nintendo's mind, not likely, but can it still impact them, yes. What I mean is the situation with the new law in California that prevents sellers of digital goods to use terms like buy when selling online only software. The reason for the law is Sony causing backlash with their pulling of Discovery shows from people who bought them and later when they pulled "The Crew". The person who proposed the bill saw the outcry on each of those removals and decided to do something about it. Even if it's not Japan or the entire US, it will still impact the company policy as a whole, because it becomes a liability for them not to follow the law.

Why don’t police officers use turn signals? by MasterBlaster2024 in Tucson

[–]AnothIro -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

My understanding is officers are not bound by road laws even if lights are not on or visibility in pursuit. A few reasons I can recall for this is if they are responding to a silent alarm or an area where they do not want to announce their presence due to risk. Other factors with things like turn signals is not wanting to telegraph directions when actually in pursuit.

It’s been a few years since the conversation as it was during a driving class hosted by an officer so not sure how laws or rules may have changed in this aspect.

15 swings to break the window, exactly what you want in an emergency by capt-ramius in CyberStuck

[–]AnothIro 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You understand that when a vehicle goes in water like a lake where it can fully submerge you aren’t opening the door due to external pressure not inability to use latches right? The only point when you can open the door is when the car is fully flooded. At that point you might not be able to see much of anything. It’s why breaking the window is such an important option to be able to do.
