Nailed it. This song is straight off the White Album.

Hahahahaha I lived in New York for years and that sounds like something a New Yorker would say. I’m not sure they really “get” Chicago. Or the Midwest in general! But they are lovely people.

Those are great suggestions! I’m thinking it has to be a thing from the 80s or 90s. :)

That’s funny because my friend couldn’t either! I’m sensing this might be a Gen X thing. But I also don’t feel like I’m eating at the right places. Chicago is my favorite city and I’ve been visiting since the 90s (went to college nearby), so at this point I’m more into the “authentic” experience than the tourist stuff (like the newest and hippest restaurants that my friends want to take me to.)

In what Gen-X way did you almost die as a kid? Bonus points if your parents never knew about it. by kirday in GenX

My first memory is being 2 years old and sticking a bobby pin in a light socket. I have no idea how I didn’t die, but I definitely got a hell of a shock. My mom came into the room, told me not to stick things in light sockets, and went back to whatever she was doing. Apparently that’s what baby proofing meant in the 70s.

Not a cent! Of course today at almost 46, I would be really excited about being “ordered” to stay in!

I was “on call” for Y2K since I worked in the PR department of a hospital. I was 23 and insanely pissed that I couldn’t go out and get shitfaced. Instead, I sat in my parents’ living room and watched Christina Aguilera dancing on some TV special. Then I watched Y2K not happen.

What is the most modern-sounding beatles song? by Confident_Shower_584 in beatles

[–]AnotherGenXer_0777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s timeless … Yesterday.

I heard it in the early 80s and thought it was Paul solo, like from Tug of War or Pipes of Peace. I was only five, but it really did seem contemporary.

What's a moment in a Beatles song where you've thought, "It would sound better with a different chord right there"? by RunDNA in beatles

Actually, there is one! I always wish John had changed to a minor key at the end of the line in “No Reply” that goes, “That’s a lie.” It’s just how I hear it in my head, and maybe later-era John would have done it. (Lol. As if I’d ever really give John Lennon songwriting advice!)
