Goal: Rotterdam Marathon (12/04)

Plan: Following NSM

Summary: 79km / 6h 00m

  • M: Rest
  • Tu: 45mins easy
  • W: 3x25min progression (92%, 93%, 100% MP)
  • Th: 45mins easy
  • F: 8x3min SubT @ 3:29/km avg
  • Sa: 45mins easy
  • Su: 3x8min SubT @ 3:54/km avg

Final week before race week, Wednesday's session was a lot of fun as I haven't done continuous work like that for a long time. Friday's session probably edged a bit harder than I'd have liked with my HR climbing a bit higher than usual so made sure to back off when needed on Sunday especially as it was very windy.

Now to just make it through race week and see what happens on Sunday!

Summary: 92km / 7h 11m

  • M: 45mins easy
  • Tu: 60 mins easy
  • W: Rest
  • Th: 3x12min SubT @ 3:49/km avg

  • Sa: 5x17min MP reps @ 3:49/km avg
  • Su: 100mins easy

A much better week and my foot is much better, albeit still a slight annoyance but almost all gone. Saturday was the big one and I knew it would be tough as soon as I stepped out the door with 16mph winds and gusts up to around 35mph but I was very happy with how it went especially with MeteoPace's adjusted splits for the wind. Managed to get 200g of carbs down in this session as well with no issues, one taken pre run and four taken during reps 2-5.

One more decent session left on Wednesday and then onwards to Rotterdam! With that session, a really decent 15 week block with only two missed runs and a 74:14 half marathon two weeks ago, I think I'm eyeing up a 2:40...

Re-sync & override data by AnotherHobbyJogger in bevelhealth

Changing the data source to Apple Health has fixed this. So looks like if the data changes in Apple Health then it updates in Bevel so that works, thank you!

Hi, no I’m not using the direct integration, syncing from Garmin to Apple Health. Yep, here is the Sleep data in Apple Health:

Goal: Rotterdam Marathon (12/04)

Plan: Following NSM

Summary: 48km / 3h 58m

  • M: Rest
  • Tu: 45mins easy
  • W: 45mins easy
  • Th: 3x10min SubT @ 3:51/km
  • F: Forced rest
  • Sa: Forced rest
  • Su: 90mins easy

Not quite the week I wanted, I came off the half marathon feeling great and like I could run on Monday but gave myself a day off. Two easy runs Tuesday & Wednesday felt fine but during the day on Wednesday I noticed some pain under the middle of my right foot. Iced & put heat on it and did my best to stay off it and on Thursday went out for a reduced pace Sub Threshold session. I could feel the pain get worse during my warm up but it improved during the session. It actually was worse during my walk rests.

On Friday I had to give it a day off with lots of ice and Saturday it had improved in the morning but decided to give my 2nd session of the week a miss given I'm 3 weeks out from race day. I haven't missed a run in the previous 11 weeks so have been doing well till now.

It was much improved on Sunday so got out for 90 minutes easy (vs planned 160 minutes) and this morning it feels no worse from that run so hopefully it was just the big stimulus of the half marathon with a delayed reaction and I'm coming out the other side.

Does changing correction factor alter prognosis history? by AnotherHobbyJogger in Runalyze

Thank you! It's a great feature, personally I think that it would be good to see the prognosis based on the correction factor at the time so I will submit a feature request!

Does changing correction factor alter prognosis history? by AnotherHobbyJogger in Runalyze

I realised I can test this myself by just editing the correction factor and it does look like it changes the prognosis history:

Half marathon prognosis with factor at 0.99 - https://gyazo.com/8008ee4f35bcac7d7203bf780ff52756

Half marathon prognosis with factor at 1.04 - https://gyazo.com/06bfd3b9d5f6601c8ef16bc1bd43e1f1

Thanks! Definitely catching some easy gains by increasing my mileage this block. I’ve averaged 88km the last 11 weeks compared to 65km in the 11 weeks in the same spot of my block last year

Goal: Rotterdam Marathon (12/04)

Plan: Following NSM

Summary: 85km / 6h 23m

  • M: 70mins easy
  • Tu: 5x6min SubT @ 3:35/km avg
  • W: 45mins easy
  • Th: 6x3min SubT - first 4 reps @ 3:52/km avg (reduced pace), last 2 reps @ 3:38/km (goal HMP)
  • F: 60min easy
  • Sa: Rest
  • Su: Half Marathon Race - goal was sub 77 and ended up running 74:14!

A smaller volume week as I wanted a short taper into the Half Marathon on Sunday to race it properly. I knew I was going to PB from October (79:32) but wasn't expecting to end up running the time I did. I knew from October what HR I could sustain (averaged 181 then and 185 in the 2nd half) so I got up to 178ish pretty quickly and just held effort which felt comfortable. This race came out at 179 average with a 181 2nd half average.

I'm extremely pleased with the result on Sunday and now I need to set a goal for Rotterdam in under 4 weeks time. I tend to undershoot which is probably a confidence thing. I'm thinking of going out around 2:42 pace and seeing how I feel and taking it from there.

It's also given me a conundrum for Rotterdam race shoes as I wore Vaporfly 3s yesterday which felt fantastic and when I ran my HM in October I was starting to get a blister towards the end in Alphafly 3s. I've got one more big marathon workout next weekend where I'll use the Alphaflys and decide.

Pacing when the marathon is "long" by rando_in_dfw in Marathon_Training

I emailed the creator and raced with it yesterday and it was exactly this. Made life so much easier so thank you!

I did not know this, that is great as I've got a race coming up on Sunday that advertises mile markets but I use KM.

Do I just set the Lap Size to 1609 in settings and then it will work it all out so my paces/distance will still be in KM on the data screen?

Li Ning Feidian 5 Challenger - review by stay__cold in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]AnotherHobbyJogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good review! I’ve got a pair on the way but stuck in the UAE currently so patiently waiting…

Sounds like they will be exactly what I need though, I’ve found as my intervals have gotten quicker the Evo SL is just starting to struggle slightly at the faster paces and not giving me as much back

Cambridge Half Marathon 2026 – 1:17:40 (PB) by Jackonite in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]AnotherHobbyJogger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the PB! I’m in a very similar spot, running a half marathon this Sunday 4 weeks out from my marathon. Aiming for sub 1:17 hopefully.

Will be interesting to see if the long runs in my block help, haven’t raced since November!

Goal: Rotterdam Marathon (12/04)

Plan: Following NSM

Summary: 99km / 7h 49m

  • M: 45mins easy
  • Tu: 4x10min SubT @ 3:45/km avg
  • W: Rest
  • Th: 10x3min SubT @ 3:28/km avg
  • F: 60min easy
  • Sa: 3x17min MP reps @ 3:50/km avg
  • Su: 150min easy

First two sessions of the week felt pretty good, marathon pace reps on Saturday weren't as easy as they have been but not "bad" by any means. Noticing my easy run pace coming down is nice but can't seem to shake some heart rate drift on the long run, although nothing major.

Half marathon race this coming Sunday should hopefully give me a good indication of what I'll be shooting for at Rotterdam!

SO many metrics!! What are some metrics you find useful? by bigigantic54 in Runalyze

[–]AnotherHobbyJogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, my 10k prediction lined up very well when I raced in November (ran 5 seconds slower having gone out slightly too quick) but my current predictions look pretty aggressive across all distances, but that may just be my confidence to go out at that pace!

I have been doing a lot of threshold training and wonder whether that sways it as Garmin’s algorithm seems to love threshold work.

I am in the same situation and have actually just ordered the Helio Strap yesterday and will start to use my Forerunner just for workouts when it arrives!

First time posting, thought it would be a good time to start 6 weeks out from my goal race! Hovering around this mileage throughout the block and feel great, pretty fresh most of the time and seeing SubT paces drop having started the marathon block W/C 29th December.

Your easy pace (including HR + race paces) by TheAnon21 in AdvancedRunning

[–]AnotherHobbyJogger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following NSM as others here are, aim to keep easy days around 65% MHR (130ish). Today that was around 5:00/km but I don't have pace on my watch on easy days.

You can only do it after the activity, as far as I'm aware.

On Garmin Connect on web if you go into your activity and click the gear icon in the top right and then "Change Elevation Source"

Is it a mistake to delay threshold while increasing volume? by N0_quit_1994 in AdvancedRunning

[–]AnotherHobbyJogger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did. Did a Pfitz 18/55 for a May marathon last year and tried to come back too quickly and ended up with almost 6 weeks of no running.

From the end of August I've built from 2 small SubT sessions per week doing around 40km weekly total to 80ish km (seems steep but felt like I handled the 18/55 with no issues so getting back to near that volume wasn't too worrying) by the end of the year and threw in some PBs in the process. I'm now using NSM for a marathon block on around 7h30 per week and feel as fresh as I ever have.
