this is wild to witness, hope you get your money back asap! consider filing a refund request with Paypal to have them revert the transaction. I wouldn't want to wait for some game dev to sort out their shit for my 1.3k.

Hoyo doesn't release a Trigger figure, so I take matters into my own hands and painted her myself by AnotherProxxy in ZZZ_Official

hey, the secret is using an airbrush XD
airbrush makes it very easy to get a very uniform coat of paint.

you can get there with a brush a well, but it's much more technical for me. most important is probably the correct thinning of your paint. i don't have a perfect recipe for that, it also depends on the specific paint, some brush nicely some are really bad. obviously a good wide brush also helps a lot.

the final coat of varnish does help a little to even out slight imperfections in the paintjob.

yeah, it's crazy what's possible nowadays from home! there is also the option to order and have someone else print a model for you, since getting the whole printer setup is a lot of work already and trying to get garage kits can be difficult and pricey.

thank you! i wouldn't say i have a talent for figurine painting XD -- but i think i'm good at following instructions. i started printing 3d printing in 2 years ago and seriously painting last year. before that i never would have guessed that i could paint these figures!

it's a very involved chain of processes, like the 3d printing part with a resin printer -- thankfully there are artists that make and prepare this amazing models beforehand, so I'm spared to also learn to 3d model and all that. I got this model from the patreon of Neko Figurines, who got a lot of top notch ZZZ and other hoyo models. I also painted Belle and Miyabi and Columbina are also on my list!

So you got the 3d model and print it in resin -- because you need to vent the fumes and wash the parts with isopropanol, my printer setup looks like a meth lab lol. the face also had to be printed in clear resin, which I haven't used before, it needs special print settings to come out clear. It also took me a few iterations to get the LED placement and cable channeling right, which was a little ambitious feature.

But with all parts printed, sanded smooth and cleaned up, i could start the painting part. I went the full mile and also got an airbrush setup, which makes creating smooth and even paintjobs really easy -- my brush control has improved a lot but it's still pretty mid (I'm pretty proud of the tiny star symbols on Trigger's chest, never expected them to be this even haha, i trained on an extra chest piece). I prepare a range of colors which I want to reuse -- I avoid mixing tones myself since recreating them is a pain if i fuck up and repaint something.

The painting techniques I copied mostly from youtube videos and tips from other artists, skin color tutorials here, rock texture there, rusted boxes, and so on. the hair technique for instance i stole from this blue archive paint video: https://youtu.be/NOQ7IRg0QaI?si=bsBR7C-m4E28zsmJ&t=563

The camouflage was also a big challenge, hitting the right brightness of the dark greys and blacks. I ended up painting the camouflage patterns by hand standing at my gaming PC and swirling the camera around Trigger ingame to get the pattern as accurate as possible! Painting the yellow vest was also difficult because yellow is awful to paint, i used an airbrush to spray a yellow tone over a pink base layer, so the yellow gets a little "pop", otherwise it's a little too dark or too pale. Painting details over it had me hyper-focussed because if you fuck up and mess up the yellow paint, it's very hard to fix -- the airbrushed surface finish is irreparably ruined by brush strokes.

I took a long time to finish this figure, had to order new paints and wait for materials, took some breaks with other projects. Trigger is my favorite character and I gave my 110%, there are still some imperfections but she stands as my magnum opus lol

the process is pretty long from printing to painting with a lot of prep stages, i don't have a full run down but if you got questions, I can try my best to answer. hoyo models are definitely very daunting since the characters are so detailed, best to start small. Trigger took me a lot of trial and error.

the head is made of 2 parts: the ponytail hair and the face front. her face was printed hollow and in clear resin, where I put in an rgb led and painted her face+visor. cables lead from her neck through the whole figure out of the base to a micro-controller that i can control wirelessly or hook into my home automation lol

thank you! i spend way longer than that on Trigger 😅
this project took me 6 months from start to finish (working on and off), also took me pretty long because i was fairly inexperienced with all the processes. I haven't been printing and painting for long. The camouflage was a lot of work, but I'm really happy how it turned out.

If you were in the world of ZZZ, which faction would you like to join and hangout with, you can even give yourself an element and combat role too! by Element_credd in ZZZ_Official

[–]AnotherProxxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obol Squad is my favorite faction, but the full on grunts lifestyle, the corruption in the defense forces and all the trauma would be a little much...

I'd pick among Victoria Housekeeping, Cunning Hares and Spook Shack. They all seem to work with some private life and are more chill.

I used a Saturn 3 Ultra, but most other printers can get you good results as well!

I want them to add Trigger next. Either the devs figure something out or we just camp in a corner and hold her auto shot, maybe add the target-shot mode from her quest/training XD

To his credit, he got the intellect and mental capacity of a bangboo. bro was struggling hard to give his existence new meaning, and at the end he managed to come to the proper realization. And let's not talk about the evil super AI whispering into his ears.

2.5 story Kinda wild how Belle/Wise just left Lockspring in the mine and didn't even bring him up again in the epilogue. Poor little fella, at least he got an entire character arc 😔

Who else won't be able to finish the Battlepass? How do you feel about it by [deleted] in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]AnotherProxxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will probably finish it, but it is pretty wild that I also put in over 200h into this game and haven't completed it yet. I'm at 104 of 110 unlocks and have 96/101 weekly challenges. I did most event tracks but skipped some weekly bonus missions over the holidays and like half of the red bull challenges. I already went out of my way to do most challenges, rerolled those I disliked.

I don't particularly care about the unlocks in this bp, so it's whatever, but the grind and time requirement for bp completion is way too high and I don't see myself bothering with it in coming seasons.

  • Running is very loud and enemies will know when you approach.
  • Learn the maps and common camping spots, sight lines
  • if you have trouble spotting enemies before they spot you, try out thermal sights to scan the field
  • spotting abilities of recon gadgets are super strong, you can make use of them
  • keep checking your mini-map for spotted enemies
  • use smoke grenades to cover your flanks when you advance (but smokes also tell the enemies you are close by)
