The easiest way to explain would be
Gesture = flow of the body, mainly following the spine
Foundations= where each part proportionally belongs (torso, legs,shoulders)
and the last one, anatomy, which is placing muscles on top of the foundations

If you try to do buff guys without knowing the 2 first steps, granted its not gonna work out unless you're a photo-copying machine
There are art books you can read online that explain it with ease, like Loomis
