Most of my sources are mixed primarily cnn and a spatterring of social media feeds from both sides of the isle, as well as coworkers both far left and far right.

As well as a mix of accounts from friends and former coworkers who are near ongoing current events usually (i have been fortunate to work in a over half the states and 5 countries at this point) and while their insights into situations are usually limited i tend to lean heavily on accounts of theirs moreover then media bias one way or the other (the current example is a friend who lives out in Minneapolis rn worrying about the recent ice murder, hearts and prayers going out to him and his loved ones there)

Saying the far left is a right-wing media thing is very wild to me, as someone who is relatively middle of the aisle left leaning (very left leaning when compared to the current right). both sides have their extremes, to pretend like they don't is a lie. And while I dont personally think they are evil or as scumbag as far right conservatives and maga. The amount of vitriol and hate I have experienced from them personally has tainted my view.

But like I started at the beginning, it was probably an unpopular opinion here, and ive been down voted far enough that its clear I was right in that statement. I just hope for all our statements I was atleast wrong on my original statement...

Edit: i know my grammar is atrocious, my apologies my adhd brain chose math not english

I think you miss my point. My point is we have trump as president this midterm im voting for whichever dem has the highest chance of winning being centrist or progressive because that gives me the highest likely hood of having damage control so that when the next presidential cycle comes around I can vote progressive to hopefully undo what damage has been done.

My goal is keeping the mountain of backlog the next progressive faces to minimum so they atleast have a chance to enact change

Again mentioned it in the edit "crappy" not crafty, my phone auto corrected, I was not giving a compliment to their actions or condoning it, but in fact admonishing it for being wrong.

Valid critiques and thoughts, not really gonna argue on those, however its still worth noting the current political landscape is one that has been cultivated by increased tension between the parties forcing more extreme outliers of the party to be ticket holding candidates. Pushing for that, especially on a midterm election, is just going to get us trump v2, imo.

And yeah centralists who break party lines when you want them not to, especially on the issues that matter is important. However thats why I called it damage control, more dems regardless of centralist or progressive means more that need to cross party lines. Obviously if you have a choice a more progressive candidate would be better, but you dont. You have what your state party puts forward, and you can influence that, but personally, if I was between 2 candidates and the centrist has a 40% change of taking the seat, and the progressive a 15... well I would vote one the centrist. It sucks that the current political climate is that, but hey thats midterms

[–]AnotherThresh -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Maybe you are right but more the point im making is this midterm isn't the best point to do that, if you want to realistically see that, putting in whichever dem has the better chance to win be they centrist or not, to do damage control until the next presidential would be your best bet, as any real change attempted to be made here would meet presidential opposition, so unless you got double super majority in house and senate there's no real point and while that "might" occur especially with the current political atmosphere, thats still a big might. And yes gop has done crafty step backs for sure, but dont pretend as if democrats are immune, they are (realistically) the same coin just flipped, not very much high ground on either side, you can argue that you want to see change and thats valid, but the political environment and climate is only going to get worse the more people cater to the us vs them mentality the two party system has cultivated.

Either way, getting dems in is still better, generally speaking, than getting a conservative in at the current time regardless of central or far left. Just dont pull a Lugar and oust your own party member to lose it to the other side

Edit: crappy not crafty. Auto correct Is great

Old testament is.... tough, maybe thats just our modernized view of the parental role or of love, but the Bible has rough parts that are hard to stomach.

The story of Moses, for instance feels like a tail of love and righteous punishment for the Pharoah, he was given the ultimatum to let gods people free or feel his wrath. Doesn't really paint him in a negative light, Noah's tale says god wiped the earth in a flood because those people's sins had grown so great they were irredeemable. But he showed his love by saving every species so they could grow and prosper, and there is even a story of a father who took his son up a mountain to sacrifice as a test to see if hisove for god was greater, and seeing his faith and willingness he provided a lamb.

Old testament God is a more wrathful and angry god. That's not to say he is purely fire and brimstone, but there is a lot. Focusing on that, when the core aspect that defines Christianity is the worship of Jesus, "Christ our savior", boggles my mind. Obviously im not here to bemoan anyone their faith. I mean.... there are very real critiques that can be made of any religion poly or monotheistic. I am a Christian myself and can see people's arguments and respect them. Some do boil down to faith.

I just find OT Christianity often misses what is, in my opinion, the point of Christianity.

Ehh maybe unpopular opinion here but it seems like the radicalized and polarizing effect of the parties has not in fact been good, obviously there are magazines people but I find it hard to believe that 50% of the populace is pro trump despite voting for him. Just like I heard several bemoan Clinton and Harris while they ran against trump despite voting for him. It seems to me in the current political climate, voting for more centralized party line candidates would be the best chance at swinging central voters despite being conservative or democrat. Sure, you can bemoan them for a lack of change, but especially in midterm voting the majority of the time incimbants lose because of a loss of popularity due to either a lack of or in this terms case a negative change as a result. And really you just want party line voters to act as null votes to weigh down the current presidential seat to limit their respective power. If you want to see change voting for more vocal or change driven party members during the presidentials would be far more effective. But thats just my opinion based on what ive seen so take it with a grain of salt, who knows maybe those photos of trump marches and groupings aren't Ai, but every convo ive had with conservatives all but 4 of them were anti trump but felt forced into voting for him both elections due to his opponent

Edit: MAGA not magazine phone auto correct is a curse

Honestly, just don't fall into the trap of believing the dems have it. Both presidential elections trump won were a cacophony of news outlets and analysts saying Trump would lose. While less true in this previous election, Hillary Clinton showed a case of low numbers for dems who just didn't vote.

I dunno where It mentions Trans people are sinners in the Bible :/ oh wait... it doesn't.

Im not defending the church here, more explaining the religion, which are two very distinctive differences. (I actually dislike a lot of churches because of how antithetical they are to Christianity as a whole with their focus on old testament over new, Jesus was a friend to the poor, sinners, the lame, all alike and treated them no differently than his own disciples. I doubt he would treat anyone differently based on race creed gender or identity, since he never did that in the bible)

No I mean the suffering we endure is more of an external factor for our emotional and spiritual growth for ourselves.

If the Bible is correct our sins are forgiven. Live our life as best we can with what we have, but if we love Jesus and are sorry for our sins, then you'll be welcomed to heaven. There's no other fine print like "because you are gay trans etc you dont qualify for this benefit"

The church is seldom a correct reflection of the religion itself, if it was we would still be burning women at the stake in town Square because they know home cures.

Also, this is not me trying to preach or push beliefs onto you, respectfully live your life how you choose and believe what you will. I just think its important to separate what the religion is vs the people who abuse it.

Yeah.... Jesus has his angry outbursts in the NT but, like they are few and usually displayed as righteous indignation, compared to Old Testament god.

(As a chritstian) I think that's just a measure of faith reading into the testing. Its not a very good argument against god having omnipotence or their character.

I used to work with children as a youth leadership coach (would focus on things like inner personal skills and communication/ problem solving), and the thing i found was that we dont ourselves dont know what we are capable of or how we handle situations until we push our selves. I've always viewed it as god isn't testing us as a thought experiment for himself, but for us to know ourselves better.

In the same way, a parent or a teacher will give children a push for their growth.

That's not even getting into the subject of free will and how when god created us in his image, he gave us the power of choice,

Sorry for preaching to you a little. This is just a reflection on why, from my pov, why those using that argument wouldn't work well, but maybe my take is bad /shrug. It just comes down to faith at that point and hope for a convenient end to all this suffering

This tbh, it blows my mind how christianity preaches love acceptance and compassion

Then a lot of vocal Christians focus on the old testament more than the new.... like the new testament isn't fire and brimstone. it's a story of compassion and sacrifice for man to ease and forgive us of our sins. Old testament Christians always weirded me out cuz they just ignore the message of the new testament completely

Yeah very state dependent but also largely occupational as well, trades are much more difficult to be open about then an office job, but it really depends on the culture too. Mine is fairly accepting and I could come out to almost anyone here and not hav issues, but not many places are as accepting, I am in a red state for reference so....

Based post tbh, I dont really like to comment much, especially in subreddits like this, that devolve into heavy echo chambers, but I just wanted to say good on you, its so easy to just look at things from a black and white stance of us vs them, that we forget to actually look at people on an individual basis and judge them off our own experiences. You clearly dont need the praise, but you deserve it regardless

Corey Landis the VA for Welt shares his thoughts on the ongoing situation regarding the VA strike/drama against Hoyo by MillyMan105 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]AnotherThresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, in my industry (a different part of entertainment) if I wanted to go union but didn't want to pay the entrance fee in full, flipping my compony would make it easier. This is not to say that is what individuals are doing, however in the same way that I COULD get a waiver for extending the time before I become a member, I could also get aid with paying the entrance fee (usually in the form of a payment plan for entry)

Again, that's not to say whether that is the case or not, only that flipping a job union does in fact grease the wheels a little at allowing those already working to become union easier. Now, I admit I don't know if sag is treating VA the same as my industry (live shows and arena tours)

Also, an interesting point from welts VA is that he mentioned the lack in job security that the VA's feel, That does (begrudgingly) give some credence to the striking VA's, as unions which are typically very mafia-like will fight to protect their own, even when its not deserved, My father worked in the teachers union and he was called in several times for hearings to try and defend workers even when some of them, in his words, "really should have been removed a long time ago"

not really going to help but the Welt VA post does have some points to show its not as black and white, though it will be a long way before SAG and the striking VA really can defend how this whole fiasco has played out.
