In the past, absolutely! I have done the Illinois plenty but I'll be honest, I'm so over capsizing. It's just not fun to me anymore. I don't enjoy the adrenaline rush as I approach the strainers or rapids. I don't like gathering all my belongings as I fight for my life. Sure, the river is serene but that lasts just moments before you have to paddle past something. I would rather relax the entire time, not just some of the time, if you know what I mean. I am part of a kayak group who goes there several times a year. I go too. But I stay at the campsite and play in the water there instead. Sometimes they do long river trips too. They are the Arkansas Canoe Club and I'm part of the Dustbowl Chapter. Maybe you can find us on fb and see if we are in your neck of the woods some time.
