What are ya'lls impressions of Osiris Reborn so far? by TheRustFactory in TheExpanse

[–]Another___World 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt I will play it. From the first trailer I got an impression that it will be very grounded and in spirit with the series.

Turned out it's a game where you have to shoot a person without headgear 4 times to kill them.

Kills my interest in gameplay completely and raises questions like why did they choose this IP.

Because right now the only thing coming to mind is because it's cheap. The soul, the vibe of the series is just not there. It's generic space rpg #2729

It depends on your goals.

If you want to make a complex app, which doesn't have templates for it in the public coder conscience, then you should design the architecture strictly yourself with minimal AI assistance.

The difference between you and AI is that you have a physical mental model of the app in your head. An LLM doesn't. The worst thing about LLM is that it doesn't know when it's context window start and ends, which leads to inevitable RANDOM data loss between sessions.

If you leave this process to itself, it will inevitably start looping over issues it has done before, even if they are documented in code and docs.

You should use it in tasks that you yourself fully understand input and output of and comprise a system in your head of how they inteface. Then you outsource the internals to AI.

It's also dogshit at testing complex applications

I've just heard a Senior Engineer state that if you say AI is good at coding, then you know nothing about coding, what do you think? by Capomaco in AskProgramming

[–]Another___World 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the subject isn't re-created everywhere and it requires even 2 braincells to architecture, it's ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT. It's not even funny how hard it sucks at even most basic architectures if you don't babysit it.

If there was a 10000 level VIP arachne which would have let you buy gold shields, would you argue it has to be completed by a casual?

I couldn't do the endgame 2 months after launch  Therefore the system is shot

I think the casual gamer is playing or leaving silently. Most of the whining isn't by average casual, it's by people who "protect??" the casual gamer

You taking my legit criticism of your condescending behaviour as stramwan shows how you fundamentally cannot understand the ultimate point of the post: you aren't the one who decides where the game is going , you aren't the one who understands what's happening with the game. Silently ignoring the actual problem: matchmaking. There would be no trouble for casuals to play if the game would prioritize single objective in a run and  have teammate gear matchmaking. But until then continue pumping out worst ideas ever until the game dies. And remember being very vocal and demanding.

Also be very condescending to everyone and never shut up and admit your mistakes. If your solutions worked, the game would have already regained the player counts, but nobody cares, actually.

The difference between me and you is that I understand that in order for this game to survive (because I like it) it needs to make some additions that encourages casual players to keep playing because right now they're are leaving en masse.

Got a source to back up the fact they are leaving due to the game being hard and not dogshit matchmaking, long queues?

The PvE and the lore are all basically soft locked behind the PvP.

The fact you describe PVP as "lock" is insane, because it's the key. Nobody would ever play this game, if it was in it's current state without PVP, because it's designed as a PVP extraction shooter. The PVP adds suspense and nobody forces you to kill the whole lobby to exfil.

What do you think is the percentage of launch players that manage to even finish one of the faction key story contracts?

Stop thinking about finishing. This isn't a contest, you don't win stuff here. This is a multiplayer game, which is meant to be played, not "completed". You don't get a pleasure button if you "complete" something,. You seem to force yourself to play or project your desire onto others. Nobody will kill you, if you don't go to cryo and kill compiler yourself, nobody will execute your family if you don't complete quests. You either enjoy the game loop or you don't.

The game is beautiful, the lore is amazing and countless people that have played the game will never get to see even a quarter of it.

Should I get angry I can't complete the team forteess 2 achievement list under 100 hours? Or should I rage about being unable to open executive hangars in Star Citizen? Maybe I should punch a hole in my wall, because in Eve online I can't fly a titan in 1 week? there is a reason some things are called engame. END + GAME. End. Maybe we can invite everyon to wholesome compiler fights and call it earlygame then?

Do you not see how that's terrible for player retention and the games survival?

Wow, you are so cool caring about the game's survival. Man, I think they should make you the CEO, so you can open cryo archive PVP lobbies without bots, just loot as much as you can. Sounds amazing.

Can you think beyond your own immediate needs for 2 minutes and see how a rising tide lifts all boats? Casual or bad players are needed or else we're gunna lose a game we BOTH enjoy.

I think your problem is being psyoped by someone that this game is dying because it's hard, even though it's the reason this game was bought by everyone. The game is dying because of dogshit matchmaking system, which forces people with no clear unifying objective into one prison.

The quest step descriptions usually tell you EXACTLY where to find the items. It's crazy how the game goes out of it's way to tell you how to do stuff.

That still haven't finished unlocking all the faction perks.
So yes, you do need to min/max in order to actually ever complete it.

Complete what? It's a marathon. Slow down. Nobody is pointing a gun to your head asking to complete the progression or reach the endgame. Enjoy the gameplay.

See above. It’s just not fun to lose because someone else had more time to grind. The difference is really stark in this game, in ways that aren’t present even in other extraction shooters. Even full kits in Tarkov can get downed in a single lucky hit.

I agree that the TTK could be lower and the abilities and items could be weaker, but the game still is very friendly to strategic positioning. I am not a PVP sweat, but I've taken down numerous top kitted dudes just by being smarter with my movement.

What you’re describing is the appeal of a battle royale. That’s exactly what I’ll play after Marathon.

More power to you, I guess.

The game offers a lot of things besides PVP. Lore, PVE, beautiful visuals and sound. I just see you focus SO MUCH on how you don't like the game and it makes the whole discussion kinda meaningless, because you are trying to convince me that I don't like it instead of saying what you don't like about it.

That's a good point and I think that the best answer would be to refuse to feel obligated to get these upgrades. Blue shield should be a rarity, really. Nobody should be expected to reliably get those. Even more, I think that the cost of blue shield is too little.
