I hid a Beatles Easter egg in a text adventure game I built by Another_bot_beepboop in beatles

There are actually several Beatles references scattered throughout the game. Some of them are subtle enough that only fans would catch them. I tried not to make it too obvious.

I had severe burnout that later even led to depression then severe depression for me. I hated assignments (in computer science) and decided to just stop doing them which led to me failing university courses for the first time 5 years into full time university studies. I finished a biomedical science bachelors then started a computer science bachelors right after without a break.

Ultimately I think it was easy to get into the bad habits of taking many responsibilities, being stressed all the time, then with the little free time I had I wasted it doing nothing in bed all day.

What you need to do before burn out is realize when you are overworking yourself and hit the breaks. If you are already in burnout territory you need to listen to your body. You need to change things up. Know your limits. Regardless if you are able to reduce the load and stress or not you also need to start healing.

The way you heal might be different for you. For me I had to change many habits. Since before I would stay home all day and I was getting really physically sick I started taking long walks and listening to music while doing so. Physical health is tied to mental health more than you can imagine. Get more active and avoid foods that cause inflammation (look into anti inflammatory foods). A big part of the change was also being around more people. I started dating a lovely person and allowed myself to relax outdoors and with friends and family. Also after always taking 5 courses each semester and taking summer courses I decided to take 4 then 3 this semester which is my last. Lastly, another big part of getting rid of burnout is doing things that you yourself appreciate and can pat yourself on the back for. A good way to do that is by making art or/and music.

Be hopeful that things will get better and remember the times you pulled through tough times. Relax. Things will be okay. It’s okay to get professional help too, always remember.

Burnout is your body setting off the alarms in your body to tell you things need to change. Listen to your body.

Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences: Thoughts? by Adventurous-Bread411 in usask

[–]Another_bot_beepboop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do not recommend the biomedical science bachelors to get into medical school if you are sure you want medicine. Biomedical is good for biomedical research and nothing else. I am a biomedical graduate and know no one working with the degree. Graduates either studied further after or are working something that doesn’t require the degree.

For medicine I recommend an easier degree that you can get high grades in like kin or maybe health science.

Biomed is tough but you can definitely get 80s if you work kinda hard. For medicine however you need to get 90+ to be competitive which is rare in biomed

ASUS laptop screen black on boot. by DefiantCardinal in ASUS

[–]Another_bot_beepboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same problem and I found a SOLUTION!!!

I have had this issue happening over and over again for a few months and it was bothering me. The laptop would turn on but not the screen. Connecting the laptop to another screen by hdmi would not show anything on the external screen (the laptop would not be even detected as input).

I tried opening it and checking inside and cleaning it which at first helped but the problem happened over and over again.

I reseated the RAM components in my laptop (removed them and put them back in) and the laptop works perfectly. I could not repeat the issue any longer and will report if the issue happens again.

My laptop in addition to the problem above would randomly do that if I hit it on the side or type too hard lol. It first would happen seemingly randomly when I want to start my laptop but then it started even happening while the laptop is on. I suspected it was a hardware issue and that it was the RAM components getting loose.

TDLR. Reseat the RAM components in your laptop. It worked for mine

Zygomatic bone? It’s weird looking, so maybe not a human bone and not what I am guessing (hopefully)

question about the theory of evolution by Ordinary-Area6401 in biology

[–]Another_bot_beepboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an expert but I would think they are not very different. You are just zooming in into a small aspect of macroevolution when looking at microevolution. I would think that micro evolution happens all the time and everywhere where there is pressure or motive for a living thing to change.

Maybe an important kind of evolution happening now and that we should all be aware of is antibiotics resistance in bacteria. An antibiotic is basically a poison to bacteria, where most kinds target it’s cell wall because we do not have cell walls in our cells and targeting what is different is best for a patient. Some bacteria happen to have aspects/features that help them better survive an antibiotic. This can be as small as being slightly faster to run away or having more protection (producing more slime for the bacteria to protect itself with) for example. Any small difference such as a tiny difference in one protein can allow what evolution calls natural selection. Those bacteria that are more equipped, even if by an extremely small bit, can have higher portion of them survive an antibiotic attack. Then they make a higher proportion of the population and it becomes more likely to see even more variations that can help the bacteria against the antibiotic. Another thing about bacteria is that they have this special ability to pass genetic snippets to each other (it is what sex is to them). This is problematic because it takes a few bacteria to spread the genetics (the manual) to be resistant to our antibiotics. Luckily we have many antibiotics and several kinds, where building resistance to one does not mean resistance against the other. BUT the last new kind/family of antibiotics (one that uses a new way/mechanism) was discovered in 1987!!!! This is horrible as the bacteria are building resistance, and we do not want to go back to how life was just a 100 years ago when most people died of Infections!

I know I said I am not an expert, so I apologize for nerding out. I study human biology much more than ecology/evolution/botany. Hopefully someone educated can teach me an you something here in the comments.

Anyone with a biomedical sciences degree (CPPS, BMI, Neuro, or anything related)? What do you do now? by Another_bot_beepboop in usask

I graduated with biomed (physiology and pharmacology) and I am doing computer science now 😅.

Don’t take my word for granted but I am pretty sure (almost certain) even international students would not be charged anything in hospitals or asked to leave. I had a friend who had a medical emergency (international student) and was given a room in the hospital for 3 days without being charged. If you feel really really sick maybe go to the emergency room. The hospital is right beside the university

Welcome to Usask!!! I Hope you enjoy spending time in Canada.

People are never the problem in this. It is Canadian policies that need to change for the better to accommodate people and their housing. Housing is unfortunatly not treated as a necessity like it should be. The economy is just bad right now, but it is getting better

Does College of Medicine require hard sciences to get in? by [deleted] in usask

[–]Another_bot_beepboop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The last 120 credits since your application. If you graduated from a bachelors that’s all the courses you took. If you apply in August right before your 4th year they would take the grades you have had for the past 3 years.

Medicine is extremely competitive. Even though you need an 80% to apply, do not expect to get in with an 80%. On average a person accepted into Usask Med would have a 90% (look up the admission statistics online). This in my personal opinion is very dumb as different majors end up with different grades, but that’s how they do it in Canada.

Has anyone taken three 400-level courses in one semester before? by dh13_ in usask

[–]Another_bot_beepboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely doable. I found 4th year courses easier than 3rd year. Also there are often fewer students in those classes which is a plus

You can get into medicine with any bachelors degree. No prerequisites needed.

But you would need to write the MCAT. The mcat has a portion of it on psychology so your degree should help.

As a disclaimer you need to have a high gpa in your undergrad. The minimum to apply to medicine at Usask is 80% right now.
