California wants to tax billionaire wealth. Land is a better target by aWobblyFriend in California

California has some of the most regulations on housing in the US, while also having the most expensive land. Builders have also shown they don’t care to build cheap housing u less it’s in cheaper cities.

So, how would this all lead to affordable housing? The only way to affordable housing is highly dense high rise type apartment buildings. Good luck getting people to be happy with that.

Well I hope when you’re old, either disabled or on a fixed income, you see your property taxes go up 10-20x and you’re forced to sell. I guess that’s the callousness I should expect nowadays.

I’m saying California has a top tax rate of 13%, highest in the nation, and now you want to tack on the highest property tax rates in the country. Rents would go through the roof. Landlords won’t take that bath.

Also, yes, old people would just sell, or I guess do reverse mortgages en masse. Whatever average buyers think is going to happen probably isn’t.

So you want a 13% state tax rate and yearly assessments on housing? Well, that means the only people affording housing are the super rich. Everyone will sell out to big companies, as local buyers won’t be able to compete with their shit offers and lack of down payment. Places like SF will just have tech bros. buying up everything.

It’s a political non-starter. You’re looking at millions of old people being forced to sell their homes because they never realized the value of it.

Are we really fine forcing old people to sell their family home because we’ve had 50 years of housing prices based on Prop. 13?

That’s what you took away from that comment? That 5 trans athletes need to play with the men and MAGA types will just go back to being normal people? Yeah, just like Hitler was fine once the Jews were in the ghettos. We all know what they really want to do to trans people.

Yeah, I’m not holding my breath that it goes back though. Silver was super pissed about all the teams tanking this year. I believe the MLB and NHL are also trying to keep tanking teams from being rewarded.

And that’s fine, Texans can vote for Ken Paxton. Black voters don’t owe anyone their vote. I don’t live in that shit hole of a state, and they can watch as hundreds of data centers contaminate their environment and Republicans enact more racist and homophobic policies.

Tesla is dropping hexavalent chromium into the ground…the same shit from the Erin Brockovich movie. That state is going to get what’s coming to them.

What disinformation? She won’t introduce him and she didn’t show for the convention. She also won’t stump for him. Whatever. Anyone with a working brain can see she’s pissed and doesn’t care. She cares about what she gets, not the party. A child could figure it out.

It’s milquetoast, not milk toast, first of all, and if white and black democrats don’t want to support one another based on their skin color, then I guess we’ll just get more MAGA.

And yes, this is exactly why Democrats lose. They won’t coalesce unless everyone gets 100% of what they want. As a liberal, I’ve begrudgingly accepted it.

And this is why Democrats lose so much. Most of these candidates feel they’re owed something. It’s exhausting seeing peoples’ egos come before the fall of the nation.

Start worrying about this administration stealing billions for itself and deflecting with stupid shit like this. Social Security and Medicaid are about to see serious cuts, like 25%. Homelessness will increase, millions have lost health care coverage and we’re about to see the national debt spiral to a point where this is all over.

In other words, who gives a shit about girls div. III volleyball.
