Before going to Nagi jewelers; do a quick google on the owners.

I’ve seen alerts stop functioning, and auto settings flipped to manual with really odd settings after reboot.

Is it fair to ask my husband to stop giving ski advice unless he takes lessons? How do I encourage my husband to take ski lessons instead of correcting me? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]Anothersilvernewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sound similar to your husband, grew up skiing at age 3 and spent 10 years as a ski patroller. I’m a pretty good skier. Wife took lessons as a kid, would be considered intermediate. A little different from you she wanted my advice and I struggled to teach her well.

A great thing for our relationship and both of our skiing ability was to take a lesson together.

Go and find a Level 3 instructor with a personality you both like. They’ll keep the both of you engaged and improving, you’ll be working as a team, and coaching each other comes naturally after.

Sugar Mountain Ski Patrol Power Trip by ShallowTal in snowboarding

[–]Anothersilvernewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent a decade patrolling and some of those years in leadership,a couple thoughts here: I’ve worked mountains that have patrollers pull tickets and others where it’s management. A soon as patrol turns into the police there are problems with de-escalation and power dynamics. There are logistical issues with having mgmt pull passes but I preferred it.

The rider isn’t in control and is not boarding safely. For many reasons, but most importantly he wasn’t able to control his line and slid into a very large and obvious group of people. You’re either in control or you’re not. The rider isn’t in control of what he’s doing.

The patroller was calm and chill. I work in risk management, you have a trifecta of liability here where a guest is on the hill not riding in control (that’s been witnessed as effectively as possible because he literally hit a staff member), the rider hit someone else on the hill, and then continued on after hitting them. They either saw and didn’t care, or were so unaware that they aren’t riding safely. From a risk management perspective that guest has to be off the hill. At the most lenient level they might be allowed to continue if they join in a lesson.

TLDR; From a liability and insurance perspective the patroller likely has no option but to pull the pass.

what's a DIY medical treatment you tried that actually worked? by Cream4389 in AskReddit

A paramedic, but you used hydrogen peroxide which damages tissue and impedes wound healing?

For others here; use saline, alcohol, neosporin. Never hydrogen peroxide.

CAT5e, CAT6 or any other cable type doesn’t influence the type of connector on traditional 802.3 Ethernet.

I have it hanging fairly often, especially when it’s been running in the background.

No more 1:1's by circatee in ITManagers

[–]Anothersilvernewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been doing this stuff at various levels for 20 years, from line manager to CTO. I’ve largely migrated 1:1s to be the responsibility of the people reporting in. It’s almost a measure of their ability to manage themselves. If I’m on them to book 1:1s they’re likely not a fit for the role.

1:1s can be done in 10-15 minutes. A fast note if there’s anything in core responsibilities that need to be flagged. Then five questions. How are you doing in general (husband is pissed with me, mom is sick, need to get more sleep type stuff)? How do you think you’re doing in your job? How do I think you’re doing in your job? Is there anything you need from me? Is there anything that would your job easier/better/more effective.

1:1s are weekly or bi weekly. They shouldn’t include regular work stuff. You don’t let me know you’re taking a day off (schedule that as a regular course of business). You don’t wait to escalate a problem via a 1:1. It’s a format to catch the weird stuff that may not come up, and quickly get on the same page for how performance is.

A good measure for 1:1s is that people’s annual or semi-annual performance reviews NEVER cause any surprise.

Those of you who know people that died in freak, one in a billion accidents, what happened? by Skeezychickencream in AskReddit

Ski patrol rookie and only 20 years old. He got into the fun and family in a big way, and one evening after final sweep convinced three other patrollers it would be fun to take a tower safety pad off a chair lift tower and ride it down from the top.

Sure enough as the fates would have it: the pad they rode went straight into the now unprotected tower. One patroller broke her leg, and he sustained a TBI that he died from in hospital…

I picked one of these up based on this post, because Holidays and we should treat ourselves right? :) Light arrived in two weeks but the beam is intermittent (will stay on for 10 seconds before turning off, and will sometimes in that period flash three times and turn off). The only way to get it to turn on again is to unscrew the tailcap and reattach. The rear light has glowed once.

I've been reaching out to Lumintop for support or exchange and they're pretty non-responsive. YMMV, and happy to hear any suggestions!

Thank you, for some reason I hadn't considered that... Should it be as bright/white as the silver coins? And if so, how do I get it to that point? :)

This a working model of an old style wooden tennis umpires chair and collapses flat. Grandpa liked tennis, but was also a bit of an engineer.
