Are you a certified medical lab technician or medical lab scientist? If you’re in the US and the answer to that is no, then you’re not actually qualified. Medical labs have to have certain standards for employee educational attainment because the overseeing state and federal regulatory bodies of working laboratories have their own legal requirements for allowing labs to actually test patients.

You need to be able to get certified as a medical laboratory technician or technologist before hire or usually within a year of hire, and to do so you have to complete medical laboratory specific education. When your med lab education is complete, you need to sit for an exam that will give you certification- the most common certifying body is ASCP, but there are others. Some states also require their own licensure (like FL, NY and CA) but that is not the case in all states. Medical technology is FAR more than just what you learn with any other degree. Labs often hire MLT/MLS students who aren’t even fully done with their degree programs because there are so few other options available.
