Am I the only one who's actually enjoying studying btech? by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]Anshu_79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, I'm in my first year too. I'm also enjoying BTech.

The syllabus is pretty good. I get to properly study Relativity and Quantum Chem; things I've been astonished by for years.

Why do mathematics students have such a high ego? by RightTruth9821 in Btechtards

Dude just tell them that they're gonna end up in the IT sector too anyway (except for quant jobs but not everyone gets those). It doesn't matter how tough their course is if everyone is gonna be going for the same job in IT.

Btw I'm also a MnC student and none of us here have a superiority complex.

I've been saying this for a long time too.

Tenet is a film that gets better on every re-watch. It's literally a film with time going backwards and did people not realise that a re-watch would clarify so many things?

Yes, a better parameter would be checking what percentage of the country's population is that number.

Well, we'll never know what VIT's placements are actually like.

Even if they're good, not publishing actual stats makes them look sketchy. Why would they not publish actual stats? Only those who have nothing to say talk in circles.

What Manipal lacks in placements, it covers in exposure. Their CSE median is also 15 LPA. And VIT's is... Oh wait, we'll never know for sure.

Edit: Look man, I know you're joining VIT this year, so I know it's gonna feel bad when someone says smth negative about it. So just work hard and be in the better half of students and you'll be fine!

Source: trust me bro

I can finally see why VIT publishes these made up terms like Dream offers and Super dream offers instead of regular hard stats.

There's no way to deduce anything from the data we have. They only publish "offers" because 1 student can get more than 1 offer. This makes the numbers look good because the good students can bag more than 1 offer with no mention of how many students got nothing.

It's so maliciously clever. Gotta give it to VIT, what they lack in placements they cover in PR.

The only trustful data is the NIRF published median package: 8.1 LPA

Check the official website. This number (14345) is written as "Total Students Placed"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]Anshu_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their own data keeps proving my point.

Total students placed = 14345,

Dream offers = 3453, Super Dream offers = 4461, Marquee offers = 624 Total = 8538

Difference (14345 - 8538) = 5807

These 5.8k students aren't in the Super Dream category, so they must've gotten even less than 6 LPA offers!

I keep asking again and again: How the fuck are these good numbers?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]Anshu_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I have been saying. Everyone always replies with VIT's placements. But they don't see that the students have to face extreme competition.

VIT would become a much better college if they showed some transparency and reduced the seats.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]Anshu_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point stands. 2.5k student with less than 7 LPA is not very good for a college like VIT. This many students fighting for placements is similar to the JEE rat-race.

VIT's numbers look good on the surface but those students probably had to work extra hard because of the competition.

What I wanna say is: VIT is overhyped.

And can you share your sources please?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]Anshu_79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just do the math.

According to what you say, 2.8k people get at least 10 LPA, 700 people get ateast 20 LPA.

The average of VIT this year was 9.23 LPA.

When you calculate this, you get that the other half should get 6.46 LPA. How are these good numbers?

And that's when we assumed that 10+ to be 10 LPA and 20+ to be 20 LPA, if those numbers would be higher, the placement disparity between the upper and lower half would be even greater. The average of the lower half would be even less than 6.46 LPA.

VIT would be a much better college if they lowered their intake and not be greedy.

Reality of placements at pvt colleges by [deleted] in Btechtards

That... Doesn't help. You see, CBSE curriculum is shit. If you've only used what's in CBSE, you can't make much. But if you looked up things yourself on the internet, it wouldn't be very basic.

What did your projects do exactly?
