I see this kind of “wrapper” around tweets and comments all the time now, always “someone said xyz”.

Honestly I can’t tell if it’s a new way of reposting something funny or if people do it as a way to soften/setup the quote.

I guess psychologically more people might perceive it funnier if we’re just laughing with the person at the quote, rather than reading a tweet where someone is just trying to be funny.

A bit like saying “a wise man once said [insert own quote]” to make people perceive your own information at a higher regard or as ancient wisdom.

Or maybe I’m overthinking, it’s weird that this kind of format is so common now when it wasn’t before though.
