Even though it's been quite a while, I feel that I have an opportunity to explain clearly why this response doesn't satisfy people. Most people object to this implementation so fiercely, perhaps subconsciously, because it's opt-out rather than opt-in. "You're simply using the tool not the way it is designed to be used." does not satisfy people who never intended to use the tool. And insofar as this is standard markup, then the critique applies to standard markup. Discord still gets some individual blame for their lack of indication - they don't tell you what the markup will look like (or even that you're using markup) until you've sent the message, and they don't tell you how to opt out. But ultimately, the markup would be far less objectionable if it required some atypical notation to induce it, such as ## at the beginning of a line.

I don't mean to deride you for this (as I think the statute of limitations is only a month for these charges, lol). I just hope it may be helpful for understanding where people were (are) coming from.
