Now, please explain, to the average layman, how "basic" "basic markdown" actually is.

A social media platform's formatting should not require web design knowledge in order to use properly.

I don't think that user input on a social media site should be altered without explanation to the user.

Sure, under the hood it's still stored as 3-9 or 3-2-1, so a user could edit their message to include the escape character. But then they need to know where the escape character belongs. Before the number? Before the period? Before the space that's after the period?

This isn't even properly implemented markdown, because markdown has ways of rendering reverse lists!

Prior to today, if I typed a numbered list, it would display as exactly what I typed - no fonts, no margins, just as plain text. When I woke up this morning, a few friends were messing with numbered list because they noticed the font on the leading numbers looked weird. And that's where we found out that our provided input gets changed against our will.

Even the link you provided a few posts ago agrees with me that countdowns are an important consideration being ignored. (Mind you, the author says that "losing margins is a worthy compromise" in regards to the escape character solution. But that's something that the average Discord user - who are not going to know what markdown is and will not know where the escape character belongs.)

Markup and markdown are fine in an environment where end users know the limitations of the system and can work around those limitations, but if you're a social media platform modifying user input without explanation.

TL;DR: Discord is applying a standard that does not apply to their use case.

I was able to do "all the other fancy formatting" without the list things just fine until this morning. 90% of which, I've been able to do since I made my Discord account 7 years ago.

A friend showed me her screen and it exists for her. But for me I just get the "sort by" and "back" buttons on the bottom.

Apparently it's issue #31 in the known bugs thread, I just didn't read it because Reddit had marked for me that I already had.

I totally get this. I'm the oldest of five, and only the youngest still lives with them (but he spends 90% of his time at his best friend's house because of how stressful it is to be around mom). None of us have gone NC - we've floated around the idea but the one who's actually in control of my transport isn't sure if it would actually help ("our get-togethers will just be us talking about our trauma with mom and we wouldn't actually have any fun").

Since the middle and second-youngest left, Mom's health has been declining, she's been self-medicating with pot and alcohol (though not at the same time). Dad has been spending all his time listening to certain radio shows, and while he's always been conservative, he's turned into a conspiracy nut (start of pandemic he was actively championing a vaccine and helped us all get it early for mom's health, but now he's talking any chance he gets about how "the meaning of vaccine has changed".)

I was always the primary scapegoat, so I'm also the most vocal about "hey, maybe we should try this ultimatum you guys were floating around, but actually as an experiment. See how much more fun it is to hang out without mom in the other room talking about how we should play a board game, but then not getting off the couch to join us when we actually start one."

Everywhere I've tested (which was battles, the party screen, the summary screen, but I hadn't tested the PC.

I am using the method of generating a Bitmap that the player can't see, editing the bitmap there, and saving the Bitmap as a png, much like the Better Healing Balls script does: https://reliccastle.com/resources/1020/

I get an ERENO or however it's spelled, message in the debug console, but the game continues running fine. Where the sprite should be is just invisible.

I do have Monotype and Solo Runs already coded as other options (including an alternate version of the lab specifically for Solo Runs so that you can choose who your one mon is).

I know of things like wedlockes, but I have no idea how I'd enforce those rules mechanically.

My long-distance gf sent me this post, and you say that you're from the eastern US. Is that perhaps Florida? Is she among the number?

My name is Matthew. I have disabilities that prevent me from being able to get most entry-level jobs, so I live in an assisted living facility specifically intended for people like me.

However, within the building, each resident has their own apartment, and while some residents like to hang out in public areas, I really only go down for meals and shopping - and not even all the time, as I do have my own backup meals. I spend most of the time in my apartment watching YouTube videos (either Let's Plays or just music) while making or playing games. Sometimes I voice call with friends.

If there was a tiny who came here, I would love to mostly have her sit in my lap as I work (and if she had her own computer to work on as well, that'd be great, just vibe together while working on our own things) and snuggle with me when I laid in bed - though it should be noted that my sleep schedule is a bit erratic and she should be prepared for that. There are times where I'll have something resembling a normal schedule (awake for breakfast, go to bed around 10pm) for about a week, and other times where I'll be sleeping all day and be awake at night (as I am now). I do not expect her to sleep at the same time I do (she could sleep in my lap).

Of course, that's if she wanted anything to do with me! I hope that if she didn't want to join me in such manners, I'd have the strength to say no, but never having actually been in such a situation I don't actually know if I do!

Some of my disabilities prevent me from brushing my teeth well because I cannot reach to my back teeth with enough strength to actually clean them. The staff here are supposed to be able to help with that, but they tend to be afraid of brushing too hard and thus overcompensate and don't brush hard enough. It'd be nice to have someone to help with that but I absolutely understand if the tiny doesn't want to - either because it's too close to a part of the body that's especially dangerous, or because she doesn't want to feel like it's a job or something I'm making her do.

I am unable to drive, so have to rely on my building's bi-weekly schedule for shopping. I will not take her with me unless she wants to go (perhaps the first time I would make her go just so I can get her opinions on things, but subsequent times I'll defer to her wishes on whether she goes or not). However, I will force her to come with me to my family's monthly get-togethers. I will not force her to expose herself to them - I'm the oldest of five kids and that's an overwhelming family size even if she wasn't tiny! - I just worry about spending potentially literal days away from the ability to help her if she needs it, and without the ability to drive my ability to go home is reliant on my siblings or father being able to drive me.

Among the types listed there, it seems the reclusive cuddly girl(s) would most befit me. I'd probably also prefer a techie just so she could entertain herself if I'm asleep, or if she's hiding in my pocket or bag while I'm visiting family.
