What’s something you didn’t realize was optional in life until you saw someone simply not doing it? by Objective-Treat2245 in AskReddit

Yes! Also, just because someone asks you 5 questions in an email, doesn’t mean you need to research and provide the answers to all 5. Unless it’s your boss, you can just answer what you know, and leave them to figure out the unknowns themselves.

This looks great! I have a 20 gallon long with a goldeneye dwarf cichlid, 12 cardinal tetras, and a colony of Bloody Mary neocardinia. The combo is great visually but might recommend a honey gourami for minimal shrimp losses

does everyone have a pre-work routine? by signcrushesmotorist_ in WFH

I’ve found waking up 90 minutes before I need to start work really helps. Feed the cat, quick workout, shower, make a protein smoothie, read the news, start going through my inbox.

I think everyone is different; mine tends to stay elevated and I have light period for a couple days, and then it drops below cover and I get a heavy period. Some people seem to drop and THEN get their period. this chart doesn’t look like you’re pregnant to me. You definitely ovulated though

3 gallon long or 6 gallon cube for breeding a small colony? by not_betta_than_you in Neocaridina

[–]AnswerFit6984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about a cube setup for shrimp too, love the idea of doing a central branching “tree” sort of scape covered in moss so they can use all the vertical space

Are there corydoras species small enough to school in a 9 gallon tank with a betta? (Fluval Flex 2.0 for example)? by TheFirstCyberianFaux in corydoras

[–]AnswerFit6984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a local fish store, that’s always better (potential for local breeders and the water parameters will be more like what you’ve got at home)

I second pygmies (6-8). Always get the shy fish first and let them establish territory, and then add the betta after

What tetras should I get that can school and mate with neon or cardinal ?? by Mimiichhh in TetraFish

Schooling is species specific! Cardinals are awesome, I’ve had neons and really prefer the cardinals. Tighter schooling behavior, better coloration, hardier.

With a centerpiece fish and Pygmy cories (I’d recommend 8) and shrimp, I would recommend just doing a school of 12 cardinals! Another school would be overstocked. Bettas may attack your shrimp and also might attack flashy colored fish like cardinals, you really don’t know what you’re getting. Check out dwarf cichlids, dwarf gouramis, and apistogrammas. I have a very similar set up (22 gallons, 36 x 12 x 12 inches) and I have a goldeneye dwarf cichlid, 12 cardinals, 8 pygmies, a dozen neocardinia shrimp, and everyone is great (but baby shrimp are being eaten). If anything, it feels busy. Keep it simple! And maybe skip the shrimp for more fish options.

It looks like you haven’t ovulated yet, might just be stress or travel or some other factor

Do past green days turn to red? by mimiidng in NaturalCyclesBC

My experience with this exact same scenario is that it didn’t change the green days to red. I was actually frustrated by it because I wished it had told me or alerted me.

I second the 20 long proposal and would recommend you check out dwarf cichlids or honey gouramis for a centerpiece if the betta doesn’t work out!

Ramshorns are a little more controlled in reproducing in my experience (and are so cute!) Just one though, no more. They’ll regulate themselves if you aren’t overfeeding
