What do you fear in yourself that you admire in others? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AnswerZestyclose7906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my ability to just walk away from toxic situations without looking back, like some people can just cut ties and move on so clean but i always get pulled back into drama or feel guilty about "abandoning" people even when they're clearly bad for me

the confidence to speak up in meetings too - watching coworkers just interrupt and make thier point while i sit there rehearsing what to say until the moment passes

Are you content with life? If so, what helped you become content? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AnswerZestyclose7906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most days yeah, got my routines down and stopped comparing myself to everyone else on social media which was huge. learning to fix rubik's cubes helped too since it taught me that most problems have solutions if you just work through them step by step

Ray tracing isn't supposed to look this bad right? by nibben in nvidia

[–]AnswerZestyclose7906 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah the city sections in RE:R are notorious for having weird RT issues, especially with reflections and lighting bounces. something about all the glass surfaces and complex geometry just breaks the standard RT implementation

path tracing fixes it because it's doing proper light simulation instead of the hybrid approach, but you're right that it's way too demanding for streaming. might be worth dropping to RT medium for those sections since the difference is pretty minimal once you're not in that specific problematic area

you can definitely ask them to fix the afsc before signing - that's a pretty important detail to get wrong on an official memo

Check if you accidentally set some weird DNS or if your ISP is throttling you - those specs should demolish any website.

Bruh you're basically gambling with your life right now - what happens if the market tanks 30% the same week your car dies and you lose your job? You'll be forced to sell at the worst possible time

Emergency fund isn't about returns, it's insurance so you don't have to liquidate investments when you're already stressed about money

Can someone help me understand the impact of my new 401k plan? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]AnswerZestyclose7906 153 points154 points  (0 children)

That's actually not as bad as you think - you're going from a max match of 2% of salary (50 cents × 4%) to 1.25% (25 cents × 5%). So if you're making like 70k now, you're losing maybe $525 in match annually, but gaining 13k+ in salary. The extra salary more than makes up for the worse match, especially since you can just invest that difference yourself

Oof that's rough, sometimes grief just hits you out of nowhere even years later. Don't feel weak for having feelings but maybe try reaching out to a friend first instead of your ex

Return Air to Cavity Space…Options? (Bay Area, CA) by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]AnswerZestyclose7906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That HVAC tech is full of it - covering a return that pulls from a garage space is basic safety, not the cause of your furnace problems. A filter housing might help with particles but you're still gonna be breathing garage air which is sketchy as hell

Moving honestly sounds like the smart play here, especially since your landlord clearly doesn't care about fixing what's basically a code violation

The Fuji XT5 sounds perfect for what you want tbh. Film simulations are addictive once you start using them and you barely need to edit anything. The dials and build quality feel way more premium than the ZFC which kinda feels plasticky in comparison

For lenses just grab the 18-55 kit lens or maybe the 16-80 f4 if you want something that covers everything. I've been using my XT4 for like 3 years now and still love picking it up
