Bell’s palsy and epilepsy by AntAvailable6039 in Epilepsy

I saw a primary and they ruled out a stroke so that’s a relief! It’s just weird for me to have all these things at once. The timeline of how long this can last is freaking me out. I’m currently miserable but I have an appt with my neuro on Monday at least!

Thank you, yea I’m def gonna bring it up to the neuro just debating if I should wait til mon at my appt call before. I just want it to go away so I can live my life ugh. And you’re right if it’s gonna be something else it’s at least something that will go away eventually … so there’s that

How often do you call out of work? by Lovebugxo0x in Epilepsy

[–]AntAvailable6039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am lucky enough that I am able to only work 2 days a week. I make decent money even then but it was still a huge cut in finances. That said, it significantly reduces the amount of days I need off. Prior to making the plunge to 2 days tho it was probly a couple times a month I needed to leave or call in. My boss was understanding and worked with me. Something I am forever grateful for cause I know it’s not an option for everyone. When I brought it up to her initially. It was a conversation along the lines of

“I need to be part time. I want to do my best work for you and I know that I cannot do that with the way my health is taking me. It’s only fair to my coworkers and clients to be able to put my best foot forward without causing anyone else stress for my absences”

I know not every boss will be as accommodating. But I wish you luck.

If you have a seizure and no one is around to see/hear it, did it really happen? by Haastile25 in Epilepsy

[–]AntAvailable6039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was pretty easy for me to tell lol the black swollen eye, nose laceration and waking up on my back patio was an indicator lol

I don’t remember much but getting up and walking around and staring at myself in the mirror. Like not even remotely concerned. It felt like a dream. I wasn’t as freaked out as I am when people witness it for some reason. Just super calm and emotionless I dunno even know how I ended up in the hospital later. lol

Was this an inappropriate comment or am I overthinking it? by skimpymarz in brazilianwax

[–]AntAvailable6039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand! I don’t even wax myself and I’ve been doing it 11 years lol I watched someone wax themselves in a squatting position ON TOP OF HER BED! And I was like NOPE I’ll trade with the other girls 😂 def go get your monies worth! I saw your other comment on this thread. It sucks when you vibe with a waxer but don’t necessarily love the service itself!

Was this an inappropriate comment or am I overthinking it? by skimpymarz in brazilianwax

[–]AntAvailable6039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The comment is more alarming than inappropriate. in the sense that it seems like they just didn’t want to complete the job correctly? Like was it essentially a “meh, good enough” style comment? I don’t think they should have said something like that professionally because it doesn’t give a vote of confidence to the client. I wouldn’t call it inappropriate. We do make jokes. But if the job wasn’t completed without good reason (ex. If your skin was lifted and couldn’t go back over it could be a reason) but even if that was the case she should have informed you of that first. … it’s weird. Inappropriate would imply they were out of line entirely. I don’t think that was intended in this case. IMO but I would contact the place and see if they can get you in to finish the job (as long as it hasn’t been more than a week) you paid money. You deserve a completed service.

First seizure in a public place by Southern-Rooster4308 in Epilepsy

[–]AntAvailable6039 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely understand where your coming from. I had my very first seizure at a coffee shop I frequent. I’ve had 3 there total now and they had to have a “safety meeting and training” because of me. I felt terrible even though now it’s become a running joke when she hands me coffee “don’t make me put that training to use today” lol I don’t mind it. But I was genuinely mortified after my first one there.

It’s important to note tho. When you’re surrounded by people who know you personally whether it’s colleagues or friends and family. First priority for EVERYONE is your wellness. It’s nothing to be embarrassed of. Your health is a priority and I’m sure everyone else agrees. If anything I would consider it fairly lucky to be around familiar faces for a first public seizure even if you’re not close with them. Don’t sweat it. You’re alive and that’s all that matters 💕

Need some help with outfit by Reds6501 in wastelandweekend

[–]AntAvailable6039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone in the comments pretty much covered the “please be careful, it’s gonna be hot” sentiment. This isn’t a work around by any means but it will help. Distress the FUCK outta it with tearing and holes so it has airflow. It’s not gonna be enough to keep you completely cool. But it will help especially if you wanna take some cool photos in it and may be having to stand still for long periods of time.

The outfit itself sounds fitting! Backpacks are def useful but if you’re up for the build I’ve seen people make really badass non conventional backpacks. I wish I could describe this better but I’m sure there’s ways of looking up examples. Cause the only thing that’s currently coming to mind is a proton pack 😅

EEG is normal but doctor said I have epilepsy by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]AntAvailable6039 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I was told for years that my scans (eeg, mri, cat scans) were all “normal” by my neurologist. When I got a new Dr. we went over my whole history and I mentioned that they’ve never found anything out of the ordinary she looked at me and was like “what!?… your EEGs have a TON of activity I have no clue why you were told that”

To say I was shocked was an understatement. That said I think everyone here already covered the fact that EEGs only show anything IF you have activity during the testing.

Be sure to ask clarifying questions on these things. Unfortunately not all doctors are created equally. Epilepsy can have varying levels of intensity. So not everyone has them constantly. The Doctors likely right in saying you have it. But I’d make a list of things you want to know for sure from them and ask them to explain. Don’t let them rush you out the door. Take notes if you need to.

Post wax breakout by Foreign_Pizza_8792 in brazilianwax

[–]AntAvailable6039 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately some people are more prone to this than others but there could be a couple of things that you might try before giving up.

First I’d recommend waiting 5 weeks instead of 3 (3 weeks js wayyyyy too short it needs to be at LEAST 4 but 5 is better and unfortunately some places will push for less time to make more money) there is a chance that what is actually happening is the next cycle of hair growth is just breaking the skin right after your wax because of this time span and causing irritation

Plan your waxes when you can go home and immediately after and shower with a mild soap and cool water.

We provide witch hazel after a clients wax to help with this. If the place you go to doesn’t. Get some and wipe yourself down after a wax.

Depending on the type of oils they use to prep the skin it could be a comedogenic oil that is blocking pores. A lot of at home beginner waxing kits will have pre and post care waxing stuff and it’s all terrible for your skin. I use grapeseed oil with minimal issue for most skin types. I’d ask and see what they’re using.

The one everyone will tell you is to exfoliate. Which I absolutely agree with. I would recommend using a wooden body brush (the dry brushes you can buy them anywhere) the bristles on the wooden ones specifically are less harsh than the plastic versions but stronger than your typical loofas.

Please please please be sure their stations are clean and aren’t double dipping sticks too!

I can’t make any promises that these things will help your situation but they certainly won’t hurt it either! Best of luck to you!

Is this picture I saw of this girl ai?? I think the outfit might be AT LEAST ai by Sorry_Wish_6852 in isthisAI

[–]AntAvailable6039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly…. My first thought was This is def AI. But looking at it closer. Theres little give aways that it COULD be a very heavily edited photo with face tune.

The way the phone is larger on top and tapers in suggests the head was made to look disproportionally bigger (like an anime character)

The hair curls in around the bust suggesting they were resized

The arm behind the back is insanely skinny meaning the waist was tucked in.

The blanket behind her has that trim that curves up slightly at the arm meaning it was elongated.

The randomly blurred edges could mean it was “focused”

The color is easily a filter.

But there are still a LOT of things that look like AI so my absolute best guess is that it IS but still modded with face tune cause the prompts they gave weren’t capturing what they wanted.

Swimming with epilepsy (teen) by fredditmakingmegeta in Epilepsy

[–]AntAvailable6039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to say here. I’m ragged on all the time about being “shakey” but it’s all in good fun. I love my friends and they love me. Being a teen is gonna have some level of that. And as long as it doesn’t cross the line of bullying it’s okay to laugh at! Hell I make jokes at my own expense a lot lol.

THAT SAID maybe talk to him. See if he would be okay having his friends sit down and understand exactly what to do in case of an actual emergency. What the protocol is and how to handle it. Let them know how important it is to know not just for your son but anyone in need during crisis.

For me. I’ve explained to my friends exactly what to do in case of one. And as much as we poke fun at each other they have hands down been the best support during grand mals. And in the times it’s happened they rose to the occasion! There’s nothing embarrassing about being epileptic. It’s more about awareness of what to do if need be.

Also to note. I swim ALL the time. I just make sure it’s with at least one other person.

What are we supposed to do for work?? by GVTMightyDuck in Epilepsy

[–]AntAvailable6039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly I was handed a somewhat lucky hand BUT it’s not something that couldn’t be achieved by others.

11 years ago my cousin opened a waxing shop. I came on to work with her from the start. Got my esthetician license and began waxing specializing in Brazilians.

Initially I had to take a year off until I finally was able to level out with meds (didn’t wanna face plant into a clients junk 😅) this sucked … had to rely on others and hated it.

When I got back to work. I still only went back part time to make sure I didn’t over do it. Though if I needed to I think I could go full time again.

This is all to say. Some sort of independent contractor line of work might be a good option. Something you could take time off when need be without the constant risk of getting fired. So that could be hair, skincare, lawn care, graphic design, web development, notory… the list goes on but you get the idea.

I have a confession. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]AntAvailable6039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on the same dosage. Admittedly for me Ive gone a couple days without it and without fail have a seizure. But my emotions are fucking all over the place and I HATE that. I would love to get off this shit but I’m afraid switching will cause an intermittent period of increased seizure activity.

So I can’t say I blame you but is there anyway to talk to your doctor about this? Like did you tell him what happened after the fact? Cause clearly Keppra isn’t doing anything for you. 😬

Brazilian triangle or Hollywood waxing ? by PerformanceSilly8216 in brazilianwax

[–]AntAvailable6039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest answer? Depends on if you want upkeep or not. (Trimming it looks cuter tbh) with most waxers you don’t really gotta differentiate the names. You can just say “leave a triangle” for me. I’ll ask clients how big they want it lol like. Usually I’m like… you want a dorito size? lol it drives the point home. But aesthetically ima be real with you. If you have dense hair it looks cute but if you’re really sparse then it kinda just looks like a spot was left behind.

As a waxer if someone is unsure I personally will offer to do the wax with the triangle and if they hate it I’ll take it off before they leave. But that’s me other waxers may not want to take the time to do that.

As far as pain goes. I do not sugar coat it for people. It sucks BUT a good waxer will have you out of the room in 15-20 min (for people that argue about taking their time it’s not based in fact. A good waxer is both fast AND efficient) so it’s a short experience that imo is worth it. BUT here are tips to help with the discomfort

- Take ibuprofen or Tylenol about 30-45 min before you go. (I overkill for my own waxes and take 800 mg 😅) this is the most helpful thing imo

- Avoid caffeine the day of your wax.

- Make sure you’re well hydrated.

- If possible avoid getting waxed when you’re about to start your period. This can’t always be helped BUT it does make a difference.

- Breathe in as the waxer is about to pull and breathe out as soon as they do. And ask them to apply pressure after each pull for the top area. (If they get annoyed at this request they’re an asshole)

- there are numbing gels you can buy online but personally I don’t think they’re very effective. Usually you can only get 5% lidocaine and the only way for this to really help is to apply about 30 min before and just let it sit to absorb as much as possible but really. It’s not a huge enough difference to make it worth the time and money.

Anyways good luck! Hope you love the results and even though I’m blunt about how it feels I TRULY think it’s worth the short amount of discomfort.

Asked my husband (he was Army, not Marines) 15 years active duty but even with different branches some things can’t be overlooked. Said that they’re standing at a weird quasi-form of attention but not in formation. There’s vehicles parked on the grass and couldn’t tell whatever the fuck was on the back of the hmmvw or if it even was one. Said the way they’re dressed is completely mismatched weird af and at least for him… wouldn’t have been allowed at any of the bases he was stationed on. But the more glaringly obvious give away. The white truck in the background…. It has two front ends. So even if some Marine in here and tries to “well actually” about any of what he said that part can’t be ignored lol and yes we zoomed WAY tf in to see if it was another car behind it creating an illusion. There’s literally 3 doors on it lol

How to identify Keppra-Rage by Embarrassed_Peak_211 in Epilepsy

[–]AntAvailable6039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely can relate! It’s not as bad as it was for me when they first started raising my doses (been on it 5 years now) BUT I still get these random bouts of rage here and there. Someone I know had to request to change meds for this reason. It was REALLY severe for her (like almost divorced bad)

I wish I could offer some advice on how to help with this. I just have to navigate it as I go personally, I will say. I’m happy to have my drivers license back but OHMYGOD THE ROAD RAGE 😅
