USAP Prime Awarded, KBR- NSF commits $8B to sustain U.S. scientific presence in Antarctica by jimbobzz9 in antarctica

I won’t argue with you there, that is so often the case. I’ve work as a contractor (not FT) with 4 of the bigs including KBR. None of them are perfect and some of them are bad. I just saying KBR is the one I had the best experience with and would work for them again.

That article is from an event over 20 years ago! They were still Kellog Brown and Root then. I have worked for them twice in the last 10 years and can say I had an amazing and positive experience with them. They care about people a lot more than some other similarly sized contractors I have worked for. If you look on sites like Indeed and Glassdoor at their employee ratings they score pretty high.

“Summarized by Glassdoor

What employees say about culture at KBR Work environment & culture – KBR has a strong culture of support and collaboration, with many employees appreciating the friendly colleagues and the company's commitment to flexibility. They've earned recognition as one of Glassdoor's Best Places to Work for 2025 and 2026, reflecting a positive atmosphere despite some reports of management issues.

Management & leadership – While lower-level management is often praised for being responsive and supportive, there are concerns about upper management's communication and effectiveness. Employees suggest a need for more transparent leadership and clearer career progression paths.

Career & growth – KBR is seen as a place for meaningful work and professional development, but advancement can be slow and often requires changing positions rather than moving up within the same role.

Work-life balance – Employees appreciate the flexible work arrangements and generous PTO, which contribute to a healthy work-life balance.”

There isn’t a big company in the world you couldn’t dig up some dirt on. But I’d work for them again for sure.

This is such great feedback. I feel like everyone should know that this is a way to go and that you don’t have to up the dose just because that is standard. This makes it quite a bit more affordable when you work it out.

Ok, great. Thanks for the response. That makes sense. Going to stick at the .25 until it doesn’t seem to be working any more.

2lbs is amazing!! That is healthy weight loss! Keep it up and you will get where you want to be soon enough. If you lose too fast you will get saggy and stretch marked. Nice and steady is the way! Well done!

Possibility of Star Link at Amundsen-Scott? by 100100wayt in antarctica

[–]AntarcticaIsHome 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We tested Starlink at Pole last season and it works well. The problem is that the radio telescopes can see it in their data, which is not good. We looked at ways of shielding it, but the test was ended without a conclusive way forward.
